Shuniya
Hello can I ask something, if a voice actor voiced in game like Dragon quest rivals that's initially released for IOS/Android and became available in PC and switch where do I place the game and the character? example: Hiyama nobuyuki voicing this character https://twitter.com/DQ_RIVALS/status/1095283819387580416

Hello again Shuniya :) You're not annoying XD. I wouldn't mind helping. Did you see that PILI has officially added the subtitle of Sword Seekers to the first season? By the way, the upcoming characters are hidden, but you can still look at them. Oh, and do you have a better way of contacting you? Like Discord, Skype type stuff? I feel we could work better that way :D
Hweirdo (talk) 20:14, 29 September 2018 (UTC)
I suppose we can, but from what I can see of other pages, they don't really add too much of that stuff but if you want to, go for it! Add it under "Media" titled "Other Media".

I did some research on the 詞語 and found that 褪盡 means "to change or to transform." That's why I translated his soliloquy the way I did. It does also mean "to fade," but I think it makes more sense for him to change his clothes and keep moving.
Hweirdo (talk) 21:45, 7 October 2016 (UTC)
I do agree that Crunchyroll's translation is a bit off. I'll translate Bù Huàn's soliloquy myself, and we can compare.
Hweirdo (talk) 21:21, 1 October 2016 (UTC)
Hi Shuniya, I actually thought of moving the skills under the characters, but wasn't sure since the Japanese site has them under keywords, and was worried it might clutter up the character section. I think it's a great idea, if everyone agrees I'd say yes!
Bluesigil (talk) 22:57, 13 August 2016 (UTC)
Thank you for your kind words! They give me much encouragement. I tried my best, but still felt it could have been better. :/ Hweirdo did help make the flow better. He (She?) added the other soliloquies too, along with crunchyroll's translations. I think CR's translations on them are fairly good so I think we can keep them at that.
I also added the skill names via the information from the Japanese site. However, I only know basic Japanese, so I'm less confident with translating the description. I can try when I have more time and if no one has done it yet, but likely will need help with it.

Thank you for your advice Hweirdo, I'm definitely the more literal type of translator and I can see you like to be more symbolic. It's something I'm trying to improve more on. It's just sometimes I find by being more symbolic, you end up losing a lot of the original imagery and meaning. It's for sure a hard struggle to find a good balance. In this case, my personal view is that Officially the names are being provided phonetically anyways, and we are just providing the meaning, I don't see too much harm in being a bit more literal. I think Chinese, especially literary Chinese, is especially difficult since it's such a fuzzy language. I mean, even historians argue all the time about the interpretations of text since it's often so vague. I do like coming up with silly nicknames for these characters though like "Skele-TONNE" for 森羅枯骨. Haha. And thank you for adding Xī Yōu/Dōng Lí, I didn't add those in since they haven't been introduced in the show yet. On another note, I have to agree with Shuniya, I think it's too assumptive to assume they were using 古通中文 definitions. I don't think the general public will know that 捲 was used as 拳. I also think the usage of 云/雲 is also supposed to parallel his brother's 云/雲, so I don't think it's used as a particle. I've actually thought about a lot what to call Cloudy in a less literal sense and I've come up with a few like Cloud Absorber, Cloud Engulfer, Cloud Whirler/Swirler but I just find they don't really encompass all the imagery that 捲殘雲 would evoke.
Bluesigil (talk) 20:06, 16 July 2016 (UTC)
I agree Bluesigil. Translating names is hard, but if you can use characterization of imagery to figure out the meaning of their name, you should. It's good practice. Yes, a lot of names are simply personal interpretation, but if you can find meaning from symbolism, more power to you (and the better the translation).
Hweirdo (talk) 19:18, 16 July 2016 (UTC)
Don't mean to intrude on your conversation, apologies if this is bad wiki etiquette but I'm quite new to this site. Just to throw it out there, I've always thought 翡 referred to the male Kingfigher and 翠 was the female (雄赤曰翡,雌青曰翠). Honestly both names are really nice, and there's nothing wrong with both. Unless it is clearly stated, Kingfisher or Jade, I think it's only the matter of preference and interpretation.
Bluesigil (talk) 18:57, 16 July 2016 (UTC)
Look at this sword! Tell me it doesn't look like a bird.
Hweirdo (talk) 18:39, 16 July 2016 (UTC)
Ok, so I see you changed some of my edits. A lot of their names are translated too literally, I'm sorry to say.
First "翡" means "kingfisher". I'm not sure if you know what it is, but it's a bird. Not a fish. 丹翡 has a costume very reminiscent of the bird, therefore I think we ought to translate it as "kingfisher."
Like I said, I looked at Middle Chinese, or 古通中文, for inspiration. "捲(quán): 古通“拳”,拳头。" Besides, his name makes no sense in English if you think about it. 云(雲) is also used as a particle in 文言, so I think his name makes the most sense as "Fists of Destruction" though we can talk about it and I won't change it yet.
Hweirdo (talk) 09:03, 16 July 2016 (UTC)
That's understandable. Maybe we add a note to their names for what Crunchyroll translates them as.
Hweirdo (talk) 08:51, 16 July 2016 (UTC)
Hey Shuniya,
Crunchyroll is translating it in case you didn't know.
I took some of the names from them, and some I translated myself, though I don't know how accurate they are considering they are using Middle Chinese meanings I think.

Additions to the Chinese Wikipedia
editHi Shuniya, I'm working on publishing Bottega Veneta from English to Chinese. I am wondering if you have time to help me out. I found your username on Wikiproject:China and saw that you're fluent in both English and Chinese. I have a paid COI regarding Bottega Veneta, but my main concern here is ensuring that the information available in English is available and up to date in Chinese as well. I have a translated version of the article on my colleague’s Sandbox. Would you mind reviewing it for accuracy as well as its compliance with Wikipedia guidelines? Thanks!--Chefmikesf (talk) 00:07, 12 December 2017 (UTC)
Request to translate sources on Goldfish
editDear Shuniya, there are two sources that were posted on Talk:Goldfish#Synonyms that are in Japanese. Would you or another editor be able to translate them and tell us what they say? --HighFlyingFish (talk) 08:06, 30 August 2018 (UTC)

editTranslation request: World Migration Report
editDear Shuniya, I am writing to ask whether you still do translations of English wiki pages into Chinese. I am looking to translate World Migration Report, a page that has already been translated to Spanish and French. Your translation skills would be much appreciated. If you are not translating at this time, but if you know of someone who does do translations, I would be grateful for these recommendations as well. I'm happy to provide more information if you are interested in this project. Best, Ajs050208 (talk) 18:00, 16 January 2021 (UTC)Ajs050208
