Avoiding copyright
editIt can be difficult to get your head round all our weird and wonderful policies, but please do stick with it. The best thing to do is simply to write the article in your own words, not copy and pasting. When you're more familiar with the way things work, you can also add direct quotes (in quote marks, with a cited reference) but it's hard to get the balance right, so I wouldn't recommend this for a beginner. --Dweller (talk) 14:13, 24 February 2015 (UTC)

I have restored your draft since it was not entirely a copyright violation. However, it must be completely rewritten to be acceptable. Copying even one sentence from another source, including the band's official biography, is a copyright violation. You must rewrite everything in your own words. --ThaddeusB (talk) 16:10, 25 February 2015 (UTC)

Thanks a lot,
Waiting for your answer. Silverray123 (talk) 15:28, 9 March 2015 (UTC)
- I have read your draft and I did some research. I believe the band is notable enough to be on Wikipedia. Keep in mind that for the English Wikipedia (for example), sources can be in any language, not just in English. If you have good sources in Hebrew, use them. The important thing is that practically everything that is written should have a source. But the article should not have the images of album covers because it looks too promotional. Also, if an album has not sold even 2,000 copies, don't mention the number. Lindsey Stirling sold around 56,000 copies of her second album in the US alone in one week playing a violin, so the number you included reduces notability, plus it's not sourced anyway.
- I think there is enough coverage of the band on the Web. I wish more important sites had articles, but several smaller websites that you used should be fine since they have been used as sources for other articles. I will try to help you, but I don't know when or how much. Nevertheless, I think you have shown great determination and I think you have potential to be a great contributor to Wikipedia. Here's an article that I created recently: Redhead Express. Notice that practically everything is sourced, and I was careful to choose newspapers almost exclusively as sources, which have articles on Wikipedia (the references section is extremely well formatted). That way no one can question the sources. In your case, some sources are weaker, but they are still good enough. You can't have so many external links. That material should be used for the body of the article. Good external links are the official website and the Facebook page, for example, but not much more.
- Hopefully I'll see you here soon to help, but if others can help you first, that's better. There's a lot of work to do on the article, but you will succeed, I believe. Good luck. Dontreader (talk) 07:15, 30 March 2015 (UTC)
Thanks a lot!
I'll do my best to make changes on my own, but if you could just check if I'm good after I finish, I would be much obliged.
Silverray123 (talk) 13:28, 31 March 2015 (UTC)
- OK, good. At the most I might add references, but without changing your work. Maybe you could rephrase when the band was formed because I can't find a source for the 1999 date. But if you think it's important to keep that information, well, I'll try to provide sources for other statements when I find time. The reality is that in many articles not everything is sourced. All the best, Dontreader (talk) 19:52, 31 March 2015 (UTC)
Dear moderators, especially Dontreader - I made my changes but still would like you to check the article before I submit it.
Thanks a lot in advance! Silverray123 (talk) 14:39, 2 April 2015 (UTC)
- Hi Silverray,
- I'm not a moderator but I do understand very well the basic guidelines for writing articles on Wikipedia. I think your draft looks much better, and thanks for removing the CD images. Could you please give me a couple of days to add a few citations? Some important material remains unsourced. Also, I really don't think the six famous literature pieces should be mentioned; I would leave that out completely. That might be relevant in an article about that album, but not in this article about the band. I think it's best to focus on the band, and make it clear that it's notable. You've done a good job but as I said, some important things still need sources. Also, the lead section should briefly summarize the contents of the article, per MOS:LEAD. That would be helpful. So please wait a couple more days. I won't change anything, as you requested, but I will add sources (and add comments here) if I think they are necessary. I have to evaluate the sources before I use them by confirming that certain websites have been used as sources in other solid articles. I hope you are okay with postponing the submission a couple of days. I'll do my best. Thanks for contacting me. Dontreader (talk) 18:22, 2 April 2015 (UTC)
- Hi again,
- I made some general improvements, which you can see in the references section. I added sources where I could. I probably messed up a title in Hebrew in the last reference - maybe you can fix that. I actually broke my promise because I did make some modifications, but they are minor, except for "hiding" the pieces of music that were listed (that won't help, trust me, so please don't restore that part, even though it's actually there still, but hidden, as I said). I'm too exhausted to do more, but I think someone here had volunteered to take a look. Please contact that person before you submit the draft. There isn't much left to do, I think. The problems that remain are small, I believe, and someone else can take care of them. To be honest, this band doesn't look very notable to me at this point, but I think it passes the criteria for notability on Wikipedia. It just has to pass WP:GNG and WP:BAND. Tell them that you believe that there is significant coverage in sources that are independent of the band, and that the sources are reliable enough, especially since no contentious claims are being made. Also tell them that the article is much better sourced now. A few things remain unsourced, like that they decided to make an album in 2006, but that should not be a key factor when they make a decision. If I misinterpreted anything, please correct it (some things were not clear to me). Good luck! Dontreader (talk) 04:05, 3 April 2015 (UTC)
- Dear Dontreader,
I contacted the Fireworks magazine again, and they sent me an actual PDF of the band review from 2009 magazine, where the band and the first album Colorblind are mentioned, alongside with many other bands, including famous ones!
That Fireworks review definitely can solve any notability problem...
Unfortunately, it cannot be found online, just as a PDF file, but I don't know how to add it properly to my article, so that's where I need your assistance: I had already added a piece of this review in my article in the past (added it as a picture actually, because didn't know how to put it otherwise)
and it was, of course, removed by one of the moderators. LOL
So I believe this is not the way... Please help :)
Thank you in advance,
Silverray123 (talk) 13:05, 20 April 2015 (UTC)
- Hi Silverray123! Hey, that's awesome news! Your determination is admirable! But, just like you, I can't think of a solution for the PDF file. Please try one of these two options: Wikipedia:Teahouse (they have helped me in the past), or further above on this page I see a link that reads "real-time chat help from experienced editors". I have never tried that one, but maybe it's a newer feature on Wikipedia. Please keep me informed. Thanks, and good luck! Dontreader (talk) 20:29, 20 April 2015 (UTC)
- Silverray, I saw the reply at the Teahouse. Actually, that's correct. A reference does not always have to be a link to a web page. For example, some articles on Wikipedia use many books as references, so please tell me, what information you see on that PDF file? To include the magazine as a reference, you need to click on Template, and then choose Cite journal. There you will see many fields but don't worry about filling out all of them. The Last name and First name are of the author of the article you have. If there is no author, leave it blank. The Title is the title of the article. The journal is Fireworks (don't include Magazine - I can see a cover here). The Date is the month and the year. The Issue is important (in the link I gave you it's 69, but of course yours is different - I hope you can get that information). If you can't find the volume, don't worry, just leave it blank. The Page is the page where the article is. Don't worry about DOI or PMID. What matters is that you provide enough information for anyone to be able to find the article if they can find the magazine (that's why the issue is important, and the month and the year). There is no URL so forget about that. Don't worry about the "Ref" field. I think that should be enough. If someone insists on seeing the DOI, that Wikipedian should be able to help you. Please let me know if you see the issue number on the file or if you can find it (maybe by contacting the magazine again). Good luck! Dontreader (talk) 17:45, 21 April 2015 (UTC)

editLong delay
editHi Silverray,
I checked this page, which you have probably already seen. Now the number of articles waiting to be reviewed is over 1300. It's easy to think that some submissions were added and reviewed before yours, but I don't think that's possible because that page says that they are reviewed in chronological order, so I don't think people can cheat. When you submitted your article, there were 900 people ahead of you. Now you are closer to having your article examined, but the waiting line is longer. If there are 100 people ahead of you now (for example) then there are 1200 behind you. Please keep on being patient for two or three more weeks. If nothing happens then please contact this administrator who has always been very helpful to me.
Good luck! Dontreader (talk) 20:27, 3 June 2015 (UTC)
- I noticed something strange: under the comments on the draft, there's this code Sailor|declinets=20150309002950|ts=20150303164456}} which was not there when your draft was reviewed the last time. Please ask Bgwhite (the administrator that I mentioned a moment ago) if that might have messed up your place in the line because you have waited so long. Notice that I'm using nowiki or else I think that code won't look right. Please use it too, or just tell him to look at the last entry on your talk page. All the best, Dontreader (talk) 20:48, 3 June 2015 (UTC)
- Hi Silverray, I think your article is getting closer to being reviewed. I didn't count, but I think there are around 60 ahead of yours. Look: Category:Pending AfC submissions. I really hope it's approved this time! Please don't add what you told Bgwhite about the record label unless you have a good source for that information. Good luck! Hi again Silverray,
That is so kind of you and of the band! I would be very honored to receive their CD! I hope you received my email message but I requested that a copy be sent back to me and it wasn't, so if you don't see my letter please go to my talk page, look at the Tools menu (on the left), and click on "Email this user". Many thanks again for your gratitude, and please tell the band that I deeply appreciate their generosity! All the best, Dontreader (talk) 16:44, 16 June 2015 (UTC)
Dear Dontreader
What I asked is that you send me your contacts to transfer them to the band representative...
I'm not sure if I understood the WIKI mailing process correctly, but I think the best way is to give you the bands' official e-mail address, so that you send them your contacts (your first and last name and a physical mailing address), and they will mention you in their Facebook bandpage and send you the CD. Here it is:
stormyatmosphere@gmail.com
Tell them that Silverray sent you (they also know me by nickname lol)
And another thing - if I want to modify my article (change a bandpage link, add some info) how much time until these changes are approved, and what happens if they get declined? I mean, because of some minor changes my article cannot be deleted now, right?
Best regards Silverray123 (talk) 06:28, 17 June 2015 (UTC)
- Hi Silverray,
- I used the Wikipedia mailing system to send you a private e-mail yesterday, with my real name and my physical mailing address, but I guess that didn't work. So, I will do what you said (I will send my information to the band's official e-mail address). Thank you very much for helping me to contact the band! I will say that Silverray sent me! :)
- Now that the article exists, anyone can edit it. Make sure that you have it on your watch list. All edits are approved automatically. It's just like any other article on Wikipedia. One thing you should keep in mind is that links can disappear after some time (depending on the website). Remember that Bgwhite detected a couple of "dead links" in the article you created. I was able to solve the problem by using https://archive.org/ Just type the dead link (or a link that still works) into the search box, and if archive.org has saved the link in the past, it will let you know. It's very important to archive any new links there, too, that you want to use for the article in the future. I always archive links when I add them to articles that mean a lot to me, especially. Sometimes archive.org doesn't work, so the other main website for archiving is http://www.webcitation.org/ Just choose ARCHIVE from the top menu, to save a link, but you will have to save the new link that it will create, which you will need to use if the link you archived dies at some point. If you look carefully, I rescued one dead link from your article using a webcitation link that I created as a precaution a long time ago when I was editing your draft. In the references section you will see a couple of references that say "Archived from the original".
- Anyway, feel free to add content any time, minor or major! I will write to Stormy Atmosphere after the Roger Federer match is over. Thanks again, and if you have any questions about editing, or archiving, just ask me. All the best, Dontreader (talk) 16:10, 17 June 2015 (UTC)
Please keep these links just in case some of the links in the article disappear (dead links or link rot)
editHi Silverray,
I wrote to the band (thanks again!). I gave them my name and address here in Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA.
I went through the links that have been used in the article, and I saved all of them (the ones that had not been saved yet) using archive.org and I also saved them with webcitation.org (depending on each case, one works better than the other, or one might not work at all). Webcitation.org creates a permanent link to an article but it doesn't necessarily make a perfect copy. The Facebook link did not get archived at all with Webcitation.org, but archive.org did save it. Please use both methods whenever you add more links in the future, and keep these, which should be the complete list so far:

Dear Dontreader,
A band representative wrote me today and told me that they got your contacts! They looked at your works in Wiki and were really impressed. I planned to write articles about their albums, but I actually guess how cool it would be if you considered writing about their CD after you get it and give it a good listening... I believe you'll like it as much as I do, so maybe it'll inspire you to write an article...
Oh, and thanks for the links issue, really appreciate it!
Silverray123 (talk) 08:24, 18 June 2015 (UTC)
- Hello Silverray! That's fantastic news! Thanks for telling me. I'm sure I will think that the CD is awesome! I have a lot of experience with articles about singers and bands, but not with albums. I have even uploaded pictures of bands to Commons (with the proper procedure) to use them in articles here on Wikipedia, but for albums even pictures of albums have a different procedure (they can't be uploaded to Commons, and instead a "fair use" argument has to be used instead here on Wikipedia, which I have never attempted). But you can try! Here's the most important information: WP:NALBUMS.
- Thanks again! It's almost 3 am here so I'd better get some sleep. Have a great day! Dontreader (talk) 08:46, 18 June 2015 (UTC)

Hey, Please help me with editing a specific element in the bands' timeline in an article.
In the following article:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stormy_Atmosphere
I would like to bold the names of the active band members. What command should I use to bold their names only?
Thank you very much in advance!
Silverray123 (talk) 07:51, 15 November 2016 (UTC)
- Put three commas around the names of the active band members, '''like this'''. —Jeremy v^_^v Bori! 08:31, 15 November 2016 (UTC)
Dear Jeremy v^_^v Bori!
Tried this it didn't work... It is just adding three commas around the name lol
Silverray123 (talk) 09:04, 15 November 2016 (UTC)
- Dammit, I mean apostrophes, sorry. (I always mix those two up.) —Jeremy v^_^v Bori! 09:25, 15 November 2016 (UTC)
That's OK, I did put the apostrophies - '''
But it didn't work, it just added them to the name instead of making it bold...
Maybe I needed to declare it above the timeline body or something? Thanks Silverray123 (talk) 09:31, 15 November 2016 (UTC)
