Your draft article

edit

Hello Simbo401, and welcome to Wikipedia. Thanks for attempting to write a new article. This is not an official "Articles for Creation" review, I am just an ordinary editor trying to help you out a bit so your article is more likely to be accepted when it does come up for review. I happened upon your draft article Draft:Simeon soden today. I did a few very minor fix-it things to it already, just formatting things, but I wanted to tell you a few more important points. First off, you need to rewrite it a bit, because currently it sounds like a PR piece. A Wikipedia article has to be factual. It can't be a puff piece saying how great something is. It has to have Neutral Point of View. It must read like an encyclopedia, not a like a magazine article or a press release.

Also very important: you need to establish, in the introduction, exactly why Simeon Soden is notable in the Wikipedia sense. Notable means that Simon Soden must have been written up in reliable third-party published sources, such as for example daily national newspapers, not blogs, and not on his own website. Whatever Simeon has most been written-up for in these reliable third-party sources, is what you want to mention primarily in the intro.

And one more thing, you can't write the article if you yourself are Simeon Soden, or if you work for him.

Feel free to ask me any questions or to ask me for help. All good wishes, Invertzoo (talk) 21:08, 10 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

Update

edit

Thanks for your nice note on my talk page. I think the changes you made to your draft are all good ones.

However, the intro still does not quite explain why Simeon Soden is notable in the Wikipedia sense of the word. Establishing notability is a "sink or swim" issue, because your draft will be deleted if you can't establish sufficient notability. Perhaps you can put something in at the end of the first paragraph that explains that he has been reviewed in regional magazines and broadcast on regional radio in the northeast of England. Although honestly what you have in this draft makes him seem only borderline notable, so it could go either way, (especially since the WP article on the magazine The Crack has questionable notability and therefore that article may get deleted). National media attention as opposed to local would make him acceptably notable.

Another thing I need to explain is that you have only external links and no wikipedia links in your draft. You need to make a lot more Wikipedia blue links in your article rather than using external links all the time. For example, you can blue link Com Truise, Clams Casino (musician), and all those names because we have articles on all those musicians. EDM you can link it like this Electronic Dance Music or if you prefer you can do this (look at the edit page here to see how I did this: EDM so it leads to the correct article, not simply to a disambiguation page for EDM.

Some of your external links should become inline citations, but if there are some that don't link to very good sources, those could be listed at the bottom in a section below the references, a section you can call External links.

Another thing worth thinking about is whether there is any other pre-existing article that can legitimately mention or list Simeon Soden in some way. If there isn't one or more then that is another sign that he may not be notable enough.

Also I think you should rewrite the section "As ako" a bit more because it still reads more or less as if it was copied verbatim from the Kaneda Records description.

P.S. You could perhaps use the help desk or the live help chat to ask if you have sufficiently proved notability. Invertzoo (talk) 14:21, 13 January 2015 (UTC)Reply
