Recent edit to Evel Knievel
editHello, and thank you for your recent contribution. I appreciate the effort you made for our project, but unfortunately I had to undo your edit because I believe the article was better before you made that change. Feel free to contact me directly if you have any questions. Thank you! Sam Sailor Talk! 11:55, 8 April 2016 (UTC)
Hi Simon. If you tell me what you tried to accomplish with the "[?]" in Evel Knievel, I can maybe find an inline template that does the job. Would {{Clarify span|text=Passage(s) needing clarification|explain=Reason for the needed clarification|date=November 2024}}
do the job? Sam Sailor Talk! 11:59, 8 April 2016 (UTC) (please mention me on reply)
Hi, Sam. I put the [?] in because the phrase "hunt his dinner" made no sense to me. It felt like a bogus edit had taken place at some point. If it is accurate, then I'd love to know what "hunt his dinner" means.
Band notability
editWell, the criteria for when a band is notable enough to have its own Wikipedia page are pretty well-established. And since anyone can start a band and write and record a song about anything they want, I think we should keep mentions of article subjects in songs by bands to mentions by notable bands.
Perhaps I shouldn't have said that they were not notable, just that their notability hasn't been established. It's commonly considered a good idea to research and write the article about the band before you add stuff about them to other articles, since we don't want to encourage garage bands to promote themselves that way. Right now we have Skynd, about a Danish troll, but no article about the band (which seems like it would be in ALL CAPS).
Looking at SKYND, I think, they might actually be notable ... I see this article in Metal Hammer, which seems to be a notable enough music magazine. However, I'd be more comfortable with two such non-trivial mentions, and while there are other media mentions I can't find any in periodicals/websites we consider notable enough for their own articles. But the notability criteria might offer other options.
See what you can do ... Daniel Case (talk) 06:45, 28 January 2020 (UTC)
