A kitten for you!
editMeow.
You have an overdue training assignment.
editPlease complete the assigned training modules. --Dr Aaij (talk) 23:48, 24 January 2017 (UTC)
- OK, so your edits were listed--you hadn't made any edits at all outside of the Wiki Edu dashboard until today. As I suggested, the edits you made to Rubber band and Ashtray are a good beginning, but they are not enough to fulfill any of the assignments; they are simply too minor for that. It is high time to take the assignments seriously and do some serious work. This is a writing class--so far, you have written two commas and removed one instance of the word "and". Dr Aaij (talk) 04:04, 31 January 2017 (UTC)
- Unfortunately you haven't picked up the pace since then. Dr Aaij (talk) 03:02, 27 March 2017 (UTC)
I apologize for my lack of updating, hopefully the editis and add ons will make for that. Dr Aaij Sir.Leyenda (talk) 21:36, 28 March 2017 (UTC)
Potential Articles
edit1. New Orleans Crime rates https://www.neighborhoodscout.com/la/new-orleans/crime/
2.Chicago crime rates https://www.neighborhoodscout.com/il/chicago/crime/
3.Maison Margiela Shoe https://www.maisonmargiela.com/us/maison-margiela/men/shoes
- I really think you should think about the things we talked about in class. An article on crime rates would do what...list crime rates. That's not article writing, and there are no such articles on Wikipedia, for a good reason. Type in Crime rate in Gibraltar. The other suggestion--an article on a shoe manufacturer? It's a somewhat fancy brand, but it started only in 1988, and I do not see how you're going to pull a real article out of this; such topics are hard to develop, believe me--Sissy-Boy was difficult enough, and that's a country-wide brand. Dr Aaij (talk) 04:12, 6 February 2017 (UTC)
- I was hoping to see some notes about any of those New Orleans baseball teams; as I suggested, this would be a great opportunity.
I looked at your other edits, but they are still very, very minor. What was happening in Ashtray wasn't copyediting; these 42 edits, that's copyediting. Plus, you added an odd link which had nothing to do with ashtrays. I saw your talk page comment as well--sure, but there also, it's all so easy and vague. Finally, speaking of links, I said in class, and I announced it via Blackboard, no more websites--real sources please. It should be obvious that this is not a reliable source... Plagiarism
editHi! I had to remove some content from the article Secret Nine Baseball with this edit. The reason for this is that small portions of it are too closely paraphrased from the source material. The problem with closely paraphrasing is that it is still seen as a copyright violation of sorts, even though you did try to rephrase things to a certain degree. I know that it has to be a little frustrating, especially since the bulk of the material that you added was a quotation.
A good way to get around this might be something like the following:
In August 1931 a reporter for the Louisiana Weekly commented that the team was "outfitted with just about everything a good ball club needs" that included everything “from their baseball caps down to the mascot’s water bucket.” The players tried to keep their new uniforms in good condition, something that proved detrimental as they did not want to mar them by sliding in the dirt. In the same Louisiana Weekly article it was noted “Yeah, Louis’s boys were all spruced up in their ‘Sunday Go To Meetings,’ but when it came to bucking up against a guy with a luck-piece, they couldn’t meet the issue. Wonder if they were too well dressed?”
If you want to use this content, feel free. In any case, in the future try to avoid closely paraphrasing because this is still seen as a copyright violation and a form of plagiarism, even if this wasn't your intention. Just in case, I would like you to review the Plagiarism and Copyright training module before proceeding further. Thanks. Shalor (Wiki Ed) (talk) 04:07, 29 March 2017 (UTC)
- Oh! Something else I forgot - titles for newspapers should be italicized. It's something that's easy to forget as not everyone does this. Shalor (Wiki Ed) (talk) 04:10, 29 March 2017 (UTC)
- I greatly Appreciate your time to look at this article, I'm fairly new to wikipedia. Thank you for the advice on rephrasing this portion of the text too.Shalor (Wiki Ed) Sir.Leyenda (talk) 16:54, 29 March 2017 (UTC)
- It's not a problem - I know that this can catch some people off guard. Shalor (Wiki Ed) (talk) 20:56, 1 April 2017 (UTC)
Wiki Accuracy
edit- http://www.zmescience.com/science/study-wikipedia-25092014/
- Wikipedia accuracy is 95%? The study focused only on certain medical articles. BTW, the website that you linked, I have no faith in it--better to go to the original study, which was linked in that article. Dr Aaij (talk) 01:45, 10 April 2017 (UTC)
- Also--where is that second article being written? Dr Aaij (talk) 01:46, 10 April 2017 (UTC)
- Second Article is in developments right now, I decided to change my article last minute, the previous article would have been more on the lines of personal experience and wouldn't have been notable to Wikipedia's standards. Also Thank you for the heads up on the Website I linked I'll look into Wikipedia's accuracy once more.Dr Aaij Sir.Leyenda (talk) 01:54, 10 April 2017 (UTC)
- OK. Look, I just saw that edit to that ambassador's article roll by. I think it would be a good idea to revert that--there are no grammatical errors, and the writing is fine, as far as I could see. Sure, there's only two sources, and that can do with improvement, but the two sources are from solid newspapers. He doesn't need "awards"--many people don't get awards, and having been an ambassador is enough by our standards. If you mean that his other professional activities are missing, I don't know--I didn't look for that. But leveling unjust criticism (about the writing) at an article doesn't reflect well on you, so at least modify it. Dr Aaij (talk) 03:57, 10 April 2017 (UTC)
---Dr Aaij Ok! The wording just look odd and choppy to me, but I am taking your word for it Sir. The other achievement's in Mr.Sufott life maybe medals he was awarded for serving in the Israel War. Sir.Leyenda (talk) 04:03, 10 April 2017 (UTC)
- Dr Aaij Also, I've made other changes , I mention via email! Sir.Leyenda (talk) 04:07, 10 April 2017 (UTC)
---Dr Aaij I failed to mention in the email about adding content to Louis Armstrong's article about the Secret Nine Baseball team. Sir.Leyenda (talk) 04:59, 10 April 2017 (UTC)

-- Dr Aaij Hey professor, I nerd your help with the copy right image problem on The Rabbit's Wedding.Sir.Leyenda (talk) 14:45, 17 April 2017 (UTC)
- Well, you didn't fill out all the paperwork... You need to indicate the source (URL) of the image, and you need to check a few boxes. My dear Mandarax, you always know how to fix things--can you fix this? It's a local file, copyrighted but to be used in the article on the book. The best that I can do is delete the thing (well, my sock can, haha) and upload it again, but that's more trouble than fixing it, I think. Please? Thanks! BTW, it's for a draft, in user space--User:Sir.Leyenda/The Rabbit's Wedding.
Sir.Leyenda, pay attention--it may be that there's a question or two you need to answer for us to be able to repair this. Dr Aaij (talk) 01:03, 19 April 2017 (UTC)
- Hi, Dr Aaij. Sorry I didn't respond to your page sooner, but I haven't been around for about ten days. I'm glad you involved Jo-Jo, who gave just about the same answer I would've, except I didn't know about {{non-free reduce}} (which wouldn't have mattered anyways, since someone dropped by to add that template). Sir.Leyenda, you should still supply the source where you obtained the image. Good luck with the DYK. It's got something that's unfortunately all too rare – an interesting and "hooky" hook. MANdARAX • XAЯAbИAM 17:36, 28 April 2017 (UTC)
- In the meantime, you need to get your you-know-what in gear and make this article as big and as beautiful as can be. With the right edits and the right hook you can easily get 5000 or more people to read this, if we get it on the front page. Dr Aaij (talk) 01:05, 19 April 2017 (UTC)
- Will do sir! Dr Aaij Sir.Leyenda (talk) 03:12, 19 April 2017 (UTC)
- Got a request to comment on this image. It is a so-called "non-free image" and under our policies it can't be used or uploaded until the draft has been moved to article space. When the article has been moved here you just need to add
{{non-free reduce}}{{non-free book cover}}{{subst:Book rationale|The Rabbit's Wedding}}
to the image. If the image is deleted before then, ask for restoration on WP:REFUND or User talk:Jo-Jo Eumerus. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk, contributions) 22:55, 19 April 2017 (UTC)
Talk.
editok!Dr Aaij I've add on to Ansty Preceptory. Hopefully I've given it some life since 2007!Sir.Leyenda (talk) 04:41, 19 April 2017 (UTC)
LadyofShalott and I have made a few edits, but there is much more to be done--esp. in grammar, but also in organization. Please look at what we've done and look at the edit summaries. The more you leave for others to do, the less you will have done yourself--and you're the one who's going to be graded on it. It'll only get on the front page if it's clean. Dr Aaij (talk) 01:06, 27 April 2017 (UTC)
- A caveat, Sir Leyenda: it is important to click on links to make sure they are going to the article you expect. I really don't think you meant that the author of The Rabbits' Wedding is a member of a rock band, but that is exactly what you have just said. LadyofShalott 02:50, 27 April 2017 (UTC)
- LadyofShalott I appreciate you taking the time out to review this article, the American Authors was an accidental wiki link that was added Sir.Leyenda (talk) 03:06, 27 April 2017 (UTC)
Dr Aaij I have made more revisions to the beginning of the article as well some copyedt to the plot summary and added more content on the book's controversy.I also took the tag down for clarification.Sir.Leyenda (talk) 03:21, 27 April 2017 (UTC)
- OK, it's nominated. Bookmark Template:Did you know nominations/The Rabbits' Wedding and check for updates. The article is not finished. The plot summary needs to written/rewritten in grown-up language. Same with the Controversy section; parts there seem to be out of order. "Expelled it from general flow"--what is "flow"? "General circulation" is a technical term for librarians. Also you make it sound as if she banned it, but it's the opposite: she made it available though perhaps in a particular way. Reread the sources and revise the paragraph: it's important. Dr Aaij (talk) 02:21, 28 April 2017 (UTC)
- Dr Aaij okay I will check it out professor and make the correct revisions to the article, do you think it needs more content?Sir.Leyenda (talk) 02:24, 28 April 2017 (UTC)
- No, for DYK it's long enough. If I were writing it I'd find more sources and expand it, but our semester is almost over, haha. Please note what I said about organization. Good luck, Dr Aaij (talk) 02:53, 28 April 2017 (UTC)
- Tell you what, though--you're ahead of most of your classmates. Dr Aaij (talk) 02:54, 28 April 2017 (UTC)
- Dr Aaij okay I will check it out professor and make the correct revisions to the article, do you think it needs more content?Sir.Leyenda (talk) 02:24, 28 April 2017 (UTC)
- hey, professor, Dr Aaij I've gone through the article countless times, what else can I do to improve?Sir.Leyenda (talk) 04:54, 30 April 2017 (UTC)
- [1]--that's only in the lead. Sir.Leyenda, I'm sorry, but if you ask the professional you will get a professional answer. Dr Aaij (talk) 03:01, 1 May 2017 (UTC)
- Dr Aaij ok. Sir.Leyenda (talk) 03:46, 1 May 2017 (UTC)
DYK for The Rabbits' Wedding
editOn 19 May 2017, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article The Rabbits' Wedding, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that in 1959, an Alabama state senator said a children's book about two fuzzy rabbits, The Rabbits' Wedding, was "propaganda for integration and intermarriage" and tried to get the book banned? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/The Rabbits' Wedding. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, The Rabbits' Wedding), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.
