Your edits
editHi there. I notice that all of your very limited number of edits, almost without exception, involve Hästens with the intent of promoting that company. I wanted to bring to your attention a recent change in the Wikimedia Foundation Terms of Use governing Wikipedia, discussed at this section, mandating disclosure as stated in that section. Coretheapple (talk) 17:33, 18 February 2015 (UTC)
Hi Coretheapple,
Thank you for bringing this to my attention. The purpose and intent have never been to promote Hästens, but bring in information that is informative for the reader. Before I started editing on the Hästens article on wikipedia, the page mostly consisted of negative critisicm that based on my own judgement, didn't reflect a neutral point of view. Please let me know what changes you would want me make, if any, to make sure that it follows wikipedia's terms, and maintains a neutral point of view.
Thank you,
- Thanks for your response. My only suggestion at this time is that you read the link that I provided and make appropriate disclosure. I also think that, given that you appear to have a conflict of interest based on your user name and the narrow range of your contributions, that you confine your contributions to the talk pages of articles, that you cease editing the articles directly and cease creating articles that concern, in any way, Hastens, its founder, etc. Coretheapple (talk) 18:19, 18 February 2015 (UTC)
:Thanks for your response. A statement and disclosure explaining the purpose of why I edited the article, correct?
- Well, not exactly. Self-serving statements of "purpose" are not useful. I was suggesting first of all a disclosure in compliance with the terms of use, and secondly that you not directly edit or create articles. The first suggestion concerns mandatory disclosure, the second is a suggestion given to all editors with conflicts of interest, and makes life easier for all concerned. You may wish to examine the WP:COI, which I linked to above and to which I would like to explicitly draw your attention. Coretheapple (talk) 18:42, 18 February 2015 (UTC)
Thank you. How detailed should the disclosure be?
- The terms of use is quite explicit. Why not just comply with it? Coretheapple (talk) 19:11, 18 February 2015 (UTC)
Does this work? Please let me know.
In compliance with the terms of use, the editing of any articles regarding Hästens will be limited by the user SleepEditor because of conflict of interest. Before SleepEditor started editing on the Hästens article on wikipedia, the page mostly consisted of negative critisicm that based on the judgement at the time, did not reflect a neutral point of view. Sleep editor will not directly edit or create articles relating the topic of Hästens. The contributions will be confined in respect to the talk pages relating to those articles, as well as cease editing the articles directly and cease creating articles that concern, in any way, Hastens, its founder, etc.
- I think that not directly editing articles is a good idea. However, for the third time I would like to bring to your attention that if you are employed or paid by that company, you must make an appropriate disclosure. It's stated in the Terms of Use, which I have linked to, and which is binding on all contributors to Wikipedia. Coretheapple (talk) 19:31, 18 February 2015 (UTC)
So if I state that I am affiliated with the company in the user section. Is that good enough?
- Yes, a user page disclosure would suffice. That and confining your edits to talk pages would put you in compliance as well as making life easier for everybody. Coretheapple (talk) 19:48, 18 February 2015 (UTC)
Ok. I have added disclosure to User:SleepEditor. Please let me know if there is anything else. Thanks!
- You're welcome. By the way, I would suggest adding four tildes (~~~~) after each of your talk page posts, as doing so "signs" them with your user name. Coretheapple (talk) 19:56, 18 February 2015 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
