Ed Smylie substituted for Keith Canfield - this is the name in the AP article and is also cited on NASAs website and in Lovell's book "Lost Moon". wonder where the name Keith Canfield came from?
Formal mediation has been requested
editThe Mediation Committee has received a request for formal mediation of the dispute relating to "Laura Kuenssberg". As an editor concerned in this dispute, you are invited to participate in the mediation. Mediation is a voluntary process which resolves a dispute over article content by facilitation, consensus-building, and compromise among the involved editors. After reviewing the request page, the formal mediation policy, and the guide to formal mediation, please indicate in the "party agreement" section whether you agree to participate. Because requests must be responded to by the Mediation Committee within seven days, please respond to the request by 11 June 2016.
Discussion relating to the mediation request is welcome at the case talk page. Thank you.

To read an explanation by the Mediation Committee for the rejection of this request, see the mediation request page, which will be deleted by an administrator after a reasonable time. - You asked by email if there was an appeal from the rejection of your request for mediation. The answer is no. Extensive talk page discussion is a prerequisite for all forms of moderated content dispute resolution at Wikipedia, including Third Opinion, Dispute Resolution Noticeboard, and Formal Mediation (and there is discussion currently underway to add such a requirement, or something like it, to Requests for Comments). Wikipedia is built on a model of editors working out consensus through discussion between themselves and dispute resolution should only be needed when that has been diligently attempted and failed. There are many noticeboards which do not have those requirements where you can seek advice about editing problems and conflicts: see the "Articles and content" section of the {{Noticeboard links}} template for a list.
