Malia Obama Biography
editWhy did you speedy delete Malia Obama Biography while it is being discussed at Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion/Log/2016 November 27#Malia Obama Biography? Thryduulf (talk) 07:56, 3 December 2016 (UTC)
- Undeleted and replied there. SarahSV (talk) 19:34, 3 December 2016 (UTC)
Hi, did you intend to protect the talk page at Talk:Malia Obama (First Daughter)? If so, could you expand on your rationale because it is rather unusual to protect talk pages. Thanks — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 09:03, 5 December 2016 (UTC)
- Hi Martin, I protected it for a week (expires in about 21 hours) because of socking and disruption. There's a discussion at Talk:Family of Barack Obama#Split for Malia? about whether to host a separate article. SarahSV (talk) 00:39, 6 December 2016 (UTC)
FYI on MoS revert
editHi; FYI, since you mentioned that you don't always see edits to MoS immediately, and I thought you'd want to see this. I try to never do more than one undo or revert in a disagreement, so I don't want to revert. Mike Christie (talk - contribs - library) 15:20, 8 December 2016 (UTC)
- Hi Mike, thanks, I've reverted it. It isn't correct that those words have been there for years, by the way, as one of his edit summaries said. SarahSV (talk) 16:30, 8 December 2016 (UTC)
Shorwak
editHi, Sarah! You blocked User:Shorwak for socking, but I don't see an SPI so I don't know if there was a checkuser search for sleepers. I am wondering what you think about User:Samswik. Not a new user; in fact the account was created 11/15 (before Shorwak which was created 11/27). Shorwak was basically an SPA for the article Malia Obama (First Daughter). They created it as a fully developed article with their very first edit, recreated it several times after redirect, and argued for its inclusion at multiple venues. Samswik also took an interest in that article, re-expanding it once from redirect, and begging you on your talk page to unlock the redirect. Both commented at Talk:Family of Barack Obama and the two of them commented almost interchangeably at at Talk:Malia Obama (First Daughter)#Should this be an article?. Just wondering if you think any of this is worthy of suspicion. Thanks. --MelanieN (talk) 16:56, 11 December 2016 (UTC)
- Hi Melanie, you could request a CU. The accounts do look connected at first glance, but I'll have to refresh my memory. SarahSV (talk) 17:13, 11 December 2016 (UTC)
- Thanks. --MelanieN (talk) 17:32, 11 December 2016 (UTC)
Infobox redirects
editIn my opinion (almost) all redirects of the form Infobox Foo → Infobox foo could be removed from Wikipedia:AutoWikiBrowser/Template_redirects#Infobox_templates. No reason to only fix capitalisation unless it is an infobox about a person because it's vital for AWB's core code or an infobox that is subject to parameter changes. -- Magioladitis (talk) 09:02, 15 December 2016 (UTC)
Stubs could be remove too. I asked the opinion of a person more expert than me on the matter. -- Magioladitis (talk) 09:06, 15 December 2016 (UTC)
Paid editing and copyright
editJust wanted to be sure you saw this series of edits, which reverted material that I believe you added some months ago. I reinstated that language on procedural grounds, as there was nothing on the talk page to indicate it was inaccurate, as alleged in the edit summary. I have no opinion on the language per se. Coretheapple (talk) 14:59, 15 December 2016 (UTC)
- @Coretheapple: thanks. Odd that he's saying it was added without discussion. SarahSV (talk) 16:18, 15 December 2016 (UTC)
- Well, he is editing warring over it nonetheless. Coretheapple (talk) 16:29, 15 December 2016 (UTC)

Ref reordering
editI 'll try to make a release today or tomorrow. So at least you won't be seeing any bots or any random AWB editors to reorder refs. I start my vacation (in fact I already started) so I hope I make it. Happy ne year! -- Magioladitis (talk) 09:07, 27 December 2016 (UTC)
- Okay, many thanks, and Happy New Year to you too. SarahSV (talk) 16:46, 27 December 2016 (UTC)
AWB 5.9.0.0 is up. I made it mandatory for all bots to upgrade to this version. -- Magioladitis (talk) 09:38, 3 January 2017 (UTC)
- Magioladitis, thanks for letting me know. SarahSV (talk) 22:36, 3 January 2017 (UTC)
Editor of the Week seeking nominations (and a new facilitator)
editThe Editor of the Week initiative has been recognizing editors since 2013 for their hard work and dedication. Editing Wikipedia can be disheartening and tedious at times; the weekly Editor of the Week award lets its recipients know that their positive behaviour and collaborative spirit is appreciated. The response from the honorees has been enthusiastic and thankful.
The list of nominees is running short, and so new nominations are needed for consideration. Have you come across someone in your editing circle who deserves a pat on the back for improving article prose regularly, making it easier to understand? Or perhaps someone has stepped in to mediate a contentious dispute, and did an excellent job. Do you know someone who hasn't received many accolades and is deserving of greater renown? Is there an editor who does lots of little tasks well, such as cleaning up citations?
Please help us thank editors who display sustained patterns of excellence, working tirelessly in the background out of the spotlight, by submitting your nomination for Editor of the Week today!
In addition, the WikiProject is seeking a new facilitator/coordinator to handle the logistics of the award. Please contact L235 if you are interested in helping with the logistics of running the award in any capacity. Remove your name from here to unsubscribe from further EotW-related messages.
