August 2016

edit

  Hello! Thank you for your recent contributions to Joan Slonczewski. I did have one note for you. I am working on a maintenance project to clean up Category:Pages using infoboxes with thumbnail images. In the future, please do not use thumbnails when adding images to an infobox (see WP:INFOBOXIMAGE). What does this mean? Well in the infobox, when you specify the image you wish to use, instead of doing it like this:

|image=[[File:SomeImage.jpg|thumb|Some image caption]]

Instead just supply the name of the image. So in this case you can simply do:

|image=SomeImage.jpg.

There will then be a separate parameter for the image caption such as |caption=Some image caption. Please note that this is a generic form message I am leaving on your page because you recently added a thumbnail to an infobox. The specific parameters for the image and caption may be different for the infobox you are using! Please consult the Template page for the infobox being used to see better documentation. Thanks!! Managing a conflict of interest

edit

  Hello, Slonczewski. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places, or things you have written about in the article Joan Slonczewski, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic, and it is important when editing Wikipedia articles that such connections be completely transparent. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. In particular, we ask that you please:

  • avoid editing or creating articles related to you and your family, friends, school, company, club, or organization, as well as any competing companies' projects or products;
  • instead, you are encouraged to propose changes on the Talk pages of affected article(s) (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • when discussing affected articles, disclose your COI (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or to the website of your organization in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • exercise great caution so that you do not violate Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Please take a few moments to read and review Wikipedia's policies regarding conflicts of interest, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, sourcing and autobiographies. Thank you. Zackmann08 (Talk to me/What I been doing) 02:05, 14 August 2016 (UTC)Reply

Article photo

edit

I want to leave you a non-boilerplate notice about the removal of the photo you provided from your Wikipedia biography. Per the policies of the Wikimedia Foundation regarding use of nonfree (copyrighted) content, nonfree images cannot be used when they may be replaceable with free images (release under an appropriate CC-license). Pictures of living people are presumed to be replaceable, since in almost all cases taking a new picture and CC-releasing it is possible. Also, although you were the subject of the photo you provided, you presumably did not take the photo, and the copyright is owned by the photographer (unless it was taken under circumstances which qualify it as work-for-hire, by you, under US copyright law). I realize that this may seem like useless bureaucracy, but with thousands of images uploaded here every day, it's necessary to keep the project unmired in endless copyright litigation and support the WMF's commitment that, to the maximum extent possible, content on Wikipedia be reuseable by anyone, anywhere, for any purpose. Please feel free to leave my note if you have any questions. The Big Bad Wolfowitz (aka Hullaballoo). Treated like dirt by many administrators since 2006. (talk) 16:31, 3 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free image File:Slonczewski.head.2015.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading File:Slonczewski.head.2015.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 19:12, 6 March 2017 (UTC)Reply
