Virginia Honor Band
editWhile a little explanatory text about VHB is warranted at James Wood High School, because the person who started the award was at the school, we do not need a list of winners county-wide of the award in an article that is focused on a specific high school. Accordingly, I have done a mild prune at the JWHS article and more severe cuts at two other articles—although the awards are still mentioned in a band or activities section. —C.Fred (talk) 14:59, 6 November 2019 (UTC)
Actually, the Virginia Honor Band is a very big part of the entire County (as well as the State) especially since the person who started the award not only went/directed at one school, but went to one of the newer schools when that was built, and helped organize the third school until his retirement. Each band has a great history of this High Honor, that's why all three schools are equally important for the mention on each specific page. Sluggoaafa (talk) 15:30, 6 November 2019 (UTC)
- First, I would challenge that the school he attended has any role in an award that didn't exist yet. Second, you really need to cite reliable sources to back those claims up. —C.Fred (talk) 16:05, 6 November 2019 (UTC)
Hope I was able to please your edits by adding the references to which each band had made their Honor Band status. I do have a question though, I'm not directly related to the Charlottesville High School band, however, they were just as instrumental in achieving this feat, and their director should be associated. Would it be any problem to include the same sort of info on the JWHS site on the Charlottesville HS site, and give the same reference to Vincent Tornello with 27 years to the Honor Band.
- added - Is there a way to edit the Football Coaches on the JWHS page to show their over-all records and years instead of how the initial person listed each year and record? Something like
Football Seasons 2013-2016, Coaches Name, record 13-28?? Sluggoaafa (talk) 20:47, 6 November 2019 (UTC)
- As an aside, please be careful about your capitalization and MOS:NUM compliance and consistency. "8 Times under the Direction of Mary Aardvark" (an obvious hypothetical) contains three separate proofreading errors; "eight times under the direction of Mary Aardvark" is correct. (I actually do not believe this level of minutiae regarding band directors is notable or encyclopedic, but on Wikipedia and in life generally, attention to detail in proofreading is never going to hurt anything.) As another example, in the comment you just wrote, there's no discernible reason to capitalize "football coaches," and in your earlier comments, I have no idea why you capitalized "County," "State," or "High Honor." (And Virginia is a commonwealth! [I used to live in Roanoke, Lexington, and Arlington, so I get to complain about that! This was meant to be slightly humorous.]) Thanks. - Julietdeltalima (talk) 20:57, 6 November 2019 (UTC)
