Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you recently tried to give Lubanki a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into another page with a different name. This is known as a "cut and paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is needed for attribution and various other purposes. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page. This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Cut and paste move repair holding pen. Pls help me here. I'm new to wiki and what I am trying to do here is to make the spelling of the title in the landing page correct. It should say Labanki and not Lubanki. How can that be done?

First, you'll need to find reliable sources that say that Labanki is the preferred spelling (or Romanization) of the language's name. The article is lacking any reliable sources, and a Google search suggests that Lubanki is the preferred spelling. Thanks for the guidance and starting the talk page. But I'm curious why does the talk page says WikiProject India? Labanas and Labanki pages are related to Labana tribe of Punjab, a region in South Asia. This is different from topics like Brahmim, which are truly Indian and not just Punjabi.

I'm not that familiar with the WikiProjects for South Asia. There may be a task force for Punjabi topics; there may also be a task force or sibling project for regions and topics that span the India–Pakistan border. I'll take a look to see if it should be classified further, but it's better for it to be in the India project than no project at all. Thanks thats great. My personal opinion is that Wiki India association should be totally removed, but it is just my personal opinion.

And my hunch is it's touchy enough that I'll leave removing to an editor involved with the project(s), if it should be removed.

Amrita_Singh

Hi, I'm sorry but I have just reverted some recent edits you made to Amrita_Singh. The reason for doing this was that although you cited a source for the info (good!) it was a biography at IMDb. This website has a peculiar relationship with regard to Wikipedia's definition of reliable sources but I'd doubt very much that using it as a source for biographical material is acceptable. The biography in question was actually submitted to IMDb by someone using a Hotmail address, and thus is almost certainly unreliable. Speedy deletion nomination of File:Amrit Singh.jpg

A tag has been placed on File:Amrit Singh.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Thank you for uploading File:Amrit Singh in 2007.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright and licensing status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log.

What is missing is a license status tag (some variety of non-free tag, since the image is from a newspaper) and a non-free content usage rationale to explain why it may be used under the relatively restrictive rules for non-free images. —C.Fred (talk) 03:13, 27 March 2011 (UTC)

Looking at the image, and looking at Singh's article, I don't see any court proceeding or the like that would justify the use of the image in question. It is just short of impossible to use a newspaper image to just show what a living person looks like. —C.Fred (talk) 03:14, 27 March 2011 (UTC)

Yea, the article that appeared in the Punjabi newspaper, Hamdard weekly, was about Amrit Singh fighting a case against US government to stop torture of war prisoners. Does that help?

Not really. The fact that she testified can be sufficiently explained in text. The image does not add any additional context to the reader of the article. Per WP:NFCC#8, "Non-free content is used only if its presence would significantly increase readers' understanding of the topic, and its omission would be detrimental to that understanding." OK. I didn't attempted to add that picture to show that she testified. I was just explaining you the content of the article when this picture was published. I couldn't care less if this image gets added or not. I found it in a old newspaper in my house and when I looked up her name in the wikipedia, it was missing a picture, so I thought lemme add it. I don't define the rules on Wikipedia and have no intention to fight for a change. I was only making this article richer in content. If Wiki rules come in the way, its Wiki's loss, I couldn't care less.
