Hi - thanks for your message. He certainly was an interesting character! Unfortunately, I have very little information than what I've included in the article; some of it is confirmed elsewhere, but, having rather a common name, I can't even track down what happened to him after 1936. Have you seen Graham Stevenson's website, which has a biography of Frank Ellis, who must also be a relative of yours?
Colin Griffin's book has a fair bit of detail, and he may well have some further information. Sadly, I don't know of any way of contacting him (or even whether he is still around). Perhaps the Leicestershire Area of the NUM could help? There are some contact details for them on the NUM website. Of course, if you have any reliable sources giving further information on him, it would be great if you could add them to the article or let me know.
