AIV

edit

Hi. It seems, your report to AIV did get that IP blocked [1]. Always nice to see that Wikpedia actually works in the way I pretend it does! By the way, I had trouble finding your report to AIV because you wrote it without logging in. You're of course absolutely free to do so but it's always more convenient to be able to follow contributions of registered users. Cheers and happy editing. Pascal.Tesson 22:28, 10 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the help Pascal! Kind regards. Steve

Thank you for following up on that user. I saw where they were blocked, so it looks like you did well. Let's hope that they learn something from the block. Thanks again... --JFreeman (talk) 00:44, 19 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Empty

edit

Empty articles such as the vineyard stubs you have been creating are in fact very strongly deprecated. The problem is that by creating a blue link, they give a false impression that an article exists. It is far far better to leave the article unwritten - a red link highlights the need for an article and can be detected by "wanted article" listing bots. -- RHaworth 20:06, 24 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Definitely second that. All of these will be deleted. When you actually have what to write, recreate it then. - Tragic Baboon (banana receptacle) 20:11, 24 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

OK..point well taken. I'll create them as I have content to add. Thanks and apologies. Steve.Moulding 20:16, 24 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Interested in working on some JoP articles?

edit

I don't think the opposers on the Judgement of Paris move have a grasp of how significant the wine tasting event was. Which is a fair consideration. I think it would probably be best to work on some of the relevant JoP articles with linkings to help convey it. I think it is clear that the scope of articles affected by the wine tasting event is much more then the mythology story and that is probably our best angle to help show our fellow Wikipedian that a disambig page is the best service to the reader. I don't know precisely what to do. The new articles look a little better, but they still seem a bit off to me. Some seem to be about real people and things, but they reference discogs a lot, which seems to be a less than reliable source (user created?). IronGargoyle 01:28, 16 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Zinfandel

edit

I've been wanting to take the wineries off of there since I started working on the article a couple weeks ago. I agree that they aren't actually fitting in any one contribution other than they sell a good Zinfandel which is not appropriate for an encyclopedic article. Apologies to everyone for this notification being sent out so late, events in real life prevented me from distributing it at the time, and the Wine Project's had a bit of a lull during the Northern Hemsiphere summer. But as the nights draw in, activity should pick up again, and hopefully the next Newsletter will arrive a little more quickly....

Wine Project activity

edit

This is a friendly note to let you know that you have been moved to the Inactive members page of the Wine Project. Users are moved to this page when two months have passed without any Wikipedia activity or 3 months have passed without any contribution to a wine related article. The intent of the Participant list is to function as a resource for other editors wishing to get in contact with wine project members for comments or question on Wikipedia's wine article. The goal of this process is to try and maintain the Wikipedia:WikiProject Wine/Participants as current and up to date as possible with active and contributing members. Please note that this is not intended to be a negative reflection on your Wikipedia or wine related contribution and it is well known that sometimes outside life can take editors away from Wikipedia for some time. You will always be welcomed to rejoined the Wine Project should you feel that the time is right. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me on my talk or on the Wine Project talk page. Best wishes. AgneCheese/Wine 00:33, 2 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for uploading Image:BEAUCAILLOU.JPG. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

File source problem with File:HAUTBAT.JPG

edit

File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:HAUTBAT.JPG. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 21:24, 8 April 2009 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. –Drilnoth (TC) 21:24, 8 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom elections are now open!

edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Thank you for uploading File:OrmesDePez.JPG.

This image is a derivative work, containing an "image within an image". Examples of such images would include a photograph of a sculpture, a scan of a magazine cover, or a screenshot of a computer game or movie. In each of these cases, the rights of the creator of the original image must be considered, as well as those of the creator of the derivative work.

While the image description page states the source and copyright status of the derivative work, it only names the creator of the original work without specifying the status of their copyright over the work.

Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the original image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other derivative works, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. Thanks again for your cooperation. --TheImaCow (talk) 08:42, 31 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
