How do I write chemical equations or insert the chemical formulas of a compound onto an article?
Wikipedia:Manual of Style (chemistry)/Structure drawing It's not easy, FWIW I use IsisDraw, Print to a dummy Applewriter printer (i.e to a file) to make an EPS file, import that into Scribus, check the size, construct a new drawing 10 pixels bigger each way, and import into the new drawing, then export as svg, then upload to commons [1] and using the data below for the information
{{Information
|Description={{en|Structure of }}
|Source={{Own}}
|Date={{subst:CURRENTYEAR}}-{{subst:CURRENTMONTH}}-{{subst:CURRENTDAY}}
|Author=~~~
|Permission={{PD-chem}}
|Other_versions=
}}
So how do you add a chemical formula into the test portion of the article, for example I want to write the chemical formula of sulfate (SO4 2-) kind of like that but with the correct superscripts and subscripts?
When you leave messages, please remember to "sign" your name, by putting ~~~~ (four tilde signs) at the end. This will add your name, and the date and time. You can also do this by clicking the 'sign' button, pictured to the right.
I just copied from the Sulfate article, and found it had the code {{chem|SO|4|2-}}, which results in: SO2− 4

MOS:DAB has a standard set of layouts and other style notes for now {{disambig}} pages should be arranged. I fixed this one for you, let me know if you need assistance with these sorts of issues on other pages. DMacks (talk) 21:29, 11 February 2011 (UTC)Reply
