External links Fallout 3 and New Vegas

I understand you being careful with the additions to external links, but because Curse's Fallout wiki (forked from Wikia in November 2011 by founder Ausir) is allowed to be listed, I consider my link to Wikia's Fallout wiki also as a valid one. Graag gedaan :) Ik heb 'm ook op bij 3 teruggedraaid, maar 's zien of er een consensus bereikt kan worden over Wikia's bij de external links. Ik denk dat Rehevkor wel een punt heeft betreft 'conflict of interest', omdat je ook een admin bent op die Wikia, maar daarnaast zou het toch moeten kunnen denk ik? Wasteland wiki

Hallo .. Soetermans. Ik ben inmiddels bureaucraat bij Wikia's Fallout Wiki en heb net een affiliate akkoord bereikt met Wikia's Wasteland wiki. Deze oude game uit 1988 is de voorganger van de Fallout series dus erg gerelateerd. Ik heb nu net de Wasteland wiki als external link aan Wikipedia's Wasteland pagina toegevoegd en hoop (en verwacht ook wel een beetje) dat dit akkoord is; ook omdat je de FO3 en FNV link naar onze wiki hebt goedgekeurd. Van mij, absoluut. Maar ik ben niet de enige editor natuurlijk... Het lastige is dat soms Wikia pagina's ook gezien worden als fansites (zie WP:FANSITE), wat op zekere hoogte ook klopt: de editors op Wikia's zijn natuurlijk liefhebbers van het onderwerp waar ze over schrijven. Maar als de Wikia in kwestie toonaangevend is (bijvoorbeeld Star Wars' Wookieepedia) dan staat het toevoegen van een link niets in de weg. Ik zal in de tussentijd in elk geval de bot terugdraaien. Photos Second Vatican Council

Hello Soetermans, this is Photini13 .. I uploaded a few days ago photos of the Second Vatican Council.

I think not naming the name of the photographer is not doing justice to the situation. The photos are part of a book that was published in 1965. It is the official authorised book from the Vatican.

There are numerous articles of Lothar Wolleh at the Wikipedia. In these article the book "The Council" is also mentioned which he created. Since we are not dealing with some snap shots that were taken .. and since pictures are part of a book that is assigned with the author / photographer I think it would be reasonable to mention the name of the photographer. Finally there is no hidden economic issue here. The book is not available any more anyhow (only second hand) and the photographer is dead. His photos are today hanging in Tate Modern which also is an indicator he left an artistic euvre. In case the pictures we had inserted were oil on canvas images that belong to an artist who is known and is hanging in Museums we would also not erase the name.

I haven't seen any article that does mention photo credits though... I'm actually not that familiar with adding credits to articles, I might have to look it up. --Soetermans. in principle I agree with you. Not every foto needs a reference. But in this case there is an artistic oeuvre / something that belongs to a wider artistic conception. And about the photographer and his work you can read also on Wikipedia. This is my point. The photos are like a quote from a wider something. You quote the photographer who worked on something systematically. It is not a snap shot where it is not really important who did it.

In case, for instance, we show an object by Henry Moore, we would mention this under the photo. But in the case of the photographer the object is the photo. Lothar Wolleh is not an unknown photographer who happened to take some snap shots. But your observation is right. There are not many well known photographers who give their photos to the Commons. Therefore there are not many photos at Wikipedia in general .. or there are many photos by people who just passed by and took a photo. These photos are not part of a life-work but a journalist-like documentation. By mentioning Lothar Wolleh we relate to his article at Wikipedia. We do not need his name under every single picture. But the reader should understand that photos are part of a book and wider work .. and by going to the LW Wikipedia article they have a chance to understand that. This is all I am saying.

I think when more photographers who have a distinct body of work put photos in the Wikipedia we will find references to their articles more often. .. But taking the picture of someone who is a photographer is like quoting from his book, or poem. Therefore, I would appreciate at least one reference under a photo. Plot of Darksiders II removed without any notice and proper reason

I'll like to know why the plot info was removed. It was not that long. And even it was it's no valid reason to delete the entire section. Many articles on video games have way longer plot details than this but they are never deleted. The plot info was also completely accurate and too the point. If it was that long, then the first two paras of the plot info could be deleted. That would have sorted out the matter.Soetermans Instead of straight away reverting you should have talked with me on my talk page on this matter. I'm not going to add it back right now. But once consensus is reached these type of actions will not be tolerated. Please do not remove an edit by a user before talking with them and reaching a consensus and edit instead of completely deleting please. I've also added this notice on the talk page of Darksiders II. I'm sorry, you're right, I should've have run it by you. I appreciate your edits, but I'm afraid I stand by my revert. For comparison, here's the diff. First off, the official description is a WP:COPYVIO. That is never allowed on Wikipedia, and it isn't necessary either. Out of the 22,000 something characters that the article was made up of, 12,000 something were a description of the plot. More than half of the article body was the plot description - that's just too long. The description might be true to its very last detail - I don't know, I haven't played the game - but that doesn't mean that every detail should be included. Fallout 3 VATS lag

Hello. I was wondering if we could keep the edit with the forum sources, since I know they are not reliable, but the information provided is extremely useful. I myself searched for a solution to the VATS delay for weeks until I finally found it, and I think it would be very useful for anyone reading the article to come across this fix. It is impossible to find any game reviewers who will mention it, because no game reviewer would go into specific issues of a game, and bethesda will not write about this issue because acknowledging its existence will mean they will have to make new patches. Again, the this is about as helpful as an encyclopedia can get, when someone with this issue comes across the article and reads and applies the simple workaround (or reverts his game version to 1.0). Though there are no sources you would agree with for wikipedia, there's no denying that it's a fact that this issue exists and what its workaround is.--94.187.123.254 (talk) 18:26, 25 September 2012 (UTC)

Diablo III plot reverts

You're not new around here, so you should be fully aware that undoing good faith edits to an article with summaries such as "rvv plot" which imply vandalism is unacceptable. Don't do that again, please. I've undone this change: if you have some constructive criticism to add, for instance regarding your apparent belief that the PC should be referred to canonically as "the Nephalem" when that title is only used by particular NPCs in-game (specifically the demons) leave it on the talk page. You do realize that calling the player character 'PC' throughout the article isn't really suitable for an encyclopedic article? "rvv" is well-known shorthand for "revert vandalism". If you weren't aware of that, it's probably best that you are now. IMO there's nothing wrong with using "PC" so long as the initialism is explained in advance (as it was): we have to call the player character something, and "Nephalem" isn't a good fit as described above. However, as of late your only edits have been re-inserting third-person shooter as a genre, a genre the games generally aren't considered to be. Borderlands Legends

Hello Soetermans. You recently edited one of my edits. While some of the information has been removed but you added Borderlands Legends under Sequel category. While it can be seen the game was made to promote Borderlands 2 I don't think it should be added under Borderlans 2 in the article. Also you removed the line that many people have reported that the game has technical issues. I think it would have been understandable to make it short but i don't think it should have been removed sine while writing about a game it is important to write about it's major bugs or problems. I'm not sure if the game deserves its own section, but feel free undo that edit :) Concerning bugs, we Wikipedians can add that under two conditions: 1) if it is sourced (which it wasn't) and 2) if it's notable. For a small iOS title I would say that bugs aren't that big of a deal to mention, but if you can find a decent source that says otherwise, go ahead and add that information. Maybe you're right since it's a small iOS title and not a major game like Skyrim. Besides I think 2K will sort it out in the next update. The game was launched as a promotion for Borderlands 2 but it's based on the original game instead of the sequel. That's why I think it deserves its own section. Thanks.
