Hello, I hope I am doing this correctly.I have a question on my page Alan Claude Ferguson. He was really know as Claude Ferguson .Most news articles and his Indiana University collection is under Claude. Most of his pages are located by tying in Claude Ferguson.

Remarks about article

I would be glad to help with page, having lived through all which this page reflects. Many of the anecdotes need sources and are attributed to A. Claude but were from other members of the family. I see that you had originally suggested the page be called A. Claude Ferguson. But, fraye, the sock puppet suggested you not. Yes, many newspapers and academic folks shortened his name due to space consideration, but he was always adamant about being called and cited as A. Claude. This is distressing and a harm to his legacy to have an inaccurate public page. His death certificate was also originally incorrect as just Claude Ferguson, and I went to extreme lengths to have it corrected to his birth certificate name. Hi Solowalk. First of all, thanks for taking a look at the conflict-of-interest editing page I linked to above. The best thing to do in this case would be to follow WP:COIADVICE and WP:PSCOI#Steps for engagement (don't be confused by the link names, you'll find the information you'll need if you click on them). Basically, other than a minor change (like one listed in WP:MINOR), you should use the article talk page to make edit requests. There are other editors now working on trying to clean the article up and bring it more inline with relevant Wikipedia policies and guidelines; so, one of them is likely to see your request and respond. Just be a little patient and someone should get to your request as soon as they can. Try and understand though that bringing the article up to Wikipedia's standards might me actually removing unsourced or otherwise inappropriate content in some cases. If that happens it's because it's the best thing for the article and Wikipedia, not because it's an attempt to try and diminish anything your father accomplished. The ultimate goal is to make the article be a suitable for Wikipedia as possible, not Wikipedia as suitable as possible for the subject of the article. In the end, articles are written about subjects, not for subjects, in Wikipedia's voice and should only reflect content which can be verified through citations to reliable sources (preferably independent and secondary) written in a neutral tone.

Finally, I saw the post you left on Cullen328's user talk page where you referred to yourself as "Carla". You posted at the Teahouse that you were Ferguson's son. "Carla" is generally a female name (I apologize if it's not in this case), so I'm wondering if you might be Ferguson's daughter or another female relative instead of his son. -- Marchjuly (talk) 21:51, 23 June 2019 (UTC)

HI, Marchjuly. I must have made another typo or forgot who I am.., I am his daughter...Carla... I was going to post the same to you as I did to Cullen..the two of you have been very understanding and helpful. I don't want to make anymore mistakes and I want to be compliant. I only want the truth out there...but I do have outside newspaper publications that state what I wrote. that is where I got alot on my info. I probably have 200 newspaper clippings. How do I get those to editors for their work on the site. Rosemary O'Learys book is probably the best source for his lawsuit, etc. The Ethics of dissent.

I have commented there; there's no need to ask for help with the same issue on two pages, and the article's talk page is the better venue to discuss the improvement of the article. Hi Solowalk. Since article talk pages are mainly for discussing ways to improve and article, I will respond to your last post at Talk:Claude Ferguson#O'Leary article in PAR here on your user talk page instead. A couple of things. First some general, and then some specific.

1. Nobody should judge you simply because you're a beginner. In fact, Wikipedia has a page titled Wikipedia:Please do not bite the newcomers that is good guide as to how to the Wikipedia community wants its editors to deal with beginners. Wikipedia is a work in progress and mistakes are expected to be made, so don't worry about it when you do. Mistakes only become "problems" when they're repeated over and over again, particularly after the person making them has been advised not to do so. So, for the most part, you should really be judged only based upon whether your edits are in accordance with relevant Wikipedia policies and guidelines. If they are, then per WP:SILENCE nobody will undo them; if someone feels they aren't, then per WP:BRD they may get re-worked or undone completely. When the latter happens, it's nothing personal against either the person making the edit or the subject of the article. So, you don't need to keep requesting not to be judged every time you post something. Believe me, you will know for sure when you do something which is so wrong that you're being judge because others will clearly tell you so.
2. When people respond to something you post, they might simply get straight to the point without any beating around the bush. This doesn't mean they are being rude; it just means they are just try to keep things on point. It's perfectly OK to disagree with someone by citing relevant policies and guidelines, even in a strongly worded way; things only start to be come a problem when the focus shifts from commenting on content to commenting on other editors. There's are specific places for discussing editor behavior, but an article talk page is not really one of them.
3. All editors are WP:VOLUNTEERs which means they sometimes get WP:BUSY; even WP:ADMINISTATORS are volunteers. This means there's no 24/7 professional staff trying to keep things running smoothly. People from all over the world are editing for lots of different reasons; so, not everyone is going to be on the same schedule as you or have the same focus as you. The ultimate goal for an editor is to be WP:HERE and there are WP:NODEADLINES so to speak, which means that sometimes the responses you get may not be what you like or come as you like. So, you just need to be patient.
4. Article content is going to be determined by [[:WP:CON}}SENSUS based upon what's in accordance with relevant Wikipedia policies and guidelines. Sometimes, a consensus might turn out to be something different from what we may personally want, but that's how things work on a collaborative editing project like Wikipedia. If you want complete 100% control over content written about your dad, then perhaps things like Facebook, your own website, or even Wikia would be a better place for you to achieve that.
5. WP:PING notifications can be helpful, but they will only work when you add them to a post and then WP:SIGN the post. They won't work if you add them after the fact to something you've already posted and signed. In other words, once a post has been signed and "Publish changes" have been clicked, you can't go back and add a notification template to it. Actually, you can, but it won't work. Another thing about pinging, is that it's something you can easily overdo. Think of yourself standing at sign-in desk of a hotel. There's nobody there, so you tap the bell. After a minute or so there's still nobody there, so you tap the bell again. You wait some more, but still nobody has come; so, you start tapping the bell over and over and over again, until finally somebody appears. You might think nothing of it, but I'm pretty sure the hotel person is really ignored and most likely is not going to be in much of a mood to want to help you out. This is why many editors don't like to be pinged, and some have even turned off that feature so that they can't be pinged. Once again, all editors are volunteers which means they aren't required to respond whenever you ping them or even respond at all. Many editors watch certain pages and will see when they are edited or something new is posted; so, pinging might not be needed each and everytime. Sometimes, you just have to play it by feel.
6. All of the above also indirectly applies to edit requests. The harder a request is to figure out, the less likely you're going to be to get a quick response. Similarly, the more complicated and involved you make the request (like requesting a total re-write) of a large part of an article, the more time it's going to take for someone to respond. Simple is best when making an edit request, and you need to be patient when making them. Ideally, the best requests are ones that pretty much any editor without any specific knowledge of the subject matter, but with a good general knowledge of relevant Wikipedia policies should be able to answer. Anything more complicated or involved than that might be better off asked at a noticeboard like Wikipedia:Conflict of interest/Noticeboard or on the talk page of one of the WikiProjects which are often listed at the top of article talk pages. Those types of places are where you'll likely find editors with specific knowledge either about COI matters or particular subjects.
