License tagging for Image:108839611 acf221aa34 b.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:108839611 acf221aa34 b.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Hi, there. You recently uploaded quite a few images that you claimed you were the taker of, however some concerns were brought up as it appears some of these images were taken from copyrighted sources, such as http://www.buva.com.au/content.asp?page=venue&placeid=6740, without properly stating so. Also of concern was the old image of a town which you also claimed you created, though it was later tagged by another editor as being in the public domain for being 100+ years old. However, with no source, that cannot be verified so I had to delete that image, and I am deleting the rest of your images (many of which are duplicates of each other) for this same concern. Could you please, in the future, mention the source of images and properly label them as copyrighted if they are so? Copyright matters are very serious as they could mean legal troubles for the foundation. Thanks. Cowman109Talk 17:37, 13 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Should you indeed be the one who has taken the pictures of the images, they can be undeleted. Cowman109Talk 17:40, 13 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
Also, I've been told that if these images are indeed yours, you can send evidence of GFDL permission to permissions (at) wikimedia (dot) org. Thanks. Cowman109Talk 17:43, 13 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Brisbane / Brisbane City QLD

edit

Please focus your attention on improving the current Brisbane page rather than creating a fork. Given the messages on this page, you may wish to accustom yourself with Wikipedia's Policies and guidelines. Cheers, michael talk 10:49, 14 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Please remember to sign messages with four tides (~~~~). There is no barrier in your way to improving the Brisbane page, and working on it to achieve Featured status should be a goal. Take a look at other featured cities for an idea of what to aim for: Johannesburg, Canberra, Cape Town, Mumbai, Hong Kong, etc. There is a WikiProject:Brisbane dedicated to improving articles about the city that you may wish to join. With regards to images, if they are licenced appropriately they will not be deleted. Copyrighted images, however, are subject to immediate deletion. michael talk 11:05, 14 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

I have just retagged this image to fair use. When you take a screenshot of a tv-program or software the screenshot is still copyrighted. Only if the program or software is released under public domain you may freely choose the license.

In order to be on the correct side of the law you must now provide a fair use rationale and which tv-program the shots are from. --|EPO| 14:09, 25 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Water fresh

I've added the "{{prod}}" template to the article Water fresh, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia, or, if you disagree, discuss the issues raised at Talk:Water fresh. If you remove the {{dated prod}} template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. - TexMurphy 14:14, 26 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Please do not remove Articles for deletion notices from articles or remove other people's comments in Articles for deletion pages. The notices and comments are needed to establish community consensus about the status of an article, and removing them is considered vandalism. If you oppose the deletion of an article, you may comment at the respective page instead. Thank you. Johnbrownsbody 14:33, 26 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Unspecified source for Image:Northbank-Multiplex Pan shot.JPG

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Northbank-Multiplex Pan shot.JPG. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self-no-disclaimers}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 08:59, 18 February 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Longhair\talk 08:59, 18 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:480Queen.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:480Queen.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. MER-C 06:25, 7 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Vision3zm-1.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Vision3zm-1.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 21:44, 25 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free image File:EMPSQ.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading File:EMPSQ.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Skier Dude (talk) 00:25, 13 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Trilogy Tower

edit

The article Trilogy Tower has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-notable building that was never constructed. The sources present are just routine coverage of its announced construction and subsequent cancellation. Searches did not turn up and significant coverage in reliable sources, making it a failure of the WP:GNG and WP:NBUILDING.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
