There have been two problems identified with this account: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business or other organisation or group, which is also against policy, as an account must be for just one person. Because of those problems, the account has been blocked indefinitely from editing.

If you intend to make useful contributions about some topic other than your business or organisation, you may request an unblock. To do so, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:CentralAuth to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy. Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In this reason, you must:

  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first. NeilN talk to me 15:10, 12 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

{{unblock-spamun|soupakid|looking to improve areas of Wikipedia I am knowledgeable about using a selection of notable sources. I now understand I must avoid advertising or promotion of my own business. Apologies for my errors.}} The Shoe Consultant (talk) 16:08, 12 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

Could you give us an example of something you'd like to edit, and exactly what changes you think should be made? Coffee // have a cup // beans // 16:30, 12 March 2017 (UTC)Reply
For technical reasons usernames cannot start with a lowercase letter. Soupakid, SoupaKid, Soupa kid and Soupa Kid are all available. Please indicate which name you wish to change to. Further, you need to familiarise yourself with Wikipedia:Changing username. Please indicate which name you wish to have and I will rename you. Please be aware that this will not result in an unblock since there are additional issues on which other admins are dealing with you. Just Chilling (talk)
Hi User:Just Chilling

More information on intent

edit

There is a commonly used term "demi-wedge" which should be added to the Wedge_(footwear) page and also the Types of high heels in the High-heeled_footwear page. I would use this citation: [1]

You will notice that some of my edits have been typo or factual corrections of other people's edits, and additional information pointing to other people's websites I know to be accurate. For example my "Wearing" entry on the Brogue shoe page.

I made the mistake of referencing my own articles on a couple of pages which brought about the block. I did so because it is hard to find correct references which are not my own.

It is important to me that Wikipedia is a thorough and factually correct source of information on footwear. The Shoe Consultant (talk) 18:30, 12 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

Please see our reliable source guidelines. Eureka does not qualify. --NeilN talk to me 19:24, 12 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

Better citations for demi wedge

edit

Although these are ecommerce sites, they all use the same accepted industry definition of Demi Wedge in their glossaries:

The links you propose would very likely be considered as WP:REFSPAM. But I realize it's hard to find an academic source for this. There are no industry periodicals you could use? --NeilN talk to me 13:43, 13 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

Unfortunately nothing I can find in journals or academic publications at this point. Just lots of examples of common usage on e-commerce sites. The Shoe Consultant (talk) 14:21, 13 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

I'm willing to unblock if you follow our reliable sources guidelines carefully. --NeilN talk to me 17:31, 14 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

Thank you. I will be sure to follow these guidelines. Soupakid (talk) 18:59, 14 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

I've unblocked you. Be aware that your fellow Wikipedians are really twitchy about anything that looks like or links to promotion or advertising. --NeilN talk to me 19:59, 14 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

Thank you. Well noted. Soupakid (talk) 13:41, 15 March 2017 (UTC)Reply
