December 2023
editHello, I'm Thewikizoomer. I noticed that you recently removed content from Bharatiya Sakshya Act, 2023 without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the removed content has been restored. If you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Especially the unexplained removal of templates. Thewikizoomer (talk) 09:33, 31 December 2023 (UTC)
- Hi Thewikizoomer, please accept my apologies for removal of some content without adequate explanation. Barring the additions that I have made, the original contents have been restored now as I do not intend deleting or replacing them without explaining the reasons henceforth. Having said that, I have reasons to remove/replace some of the contents and shall put forth those on the discussion page of the article itself so as to help emergence of a consensus.
- Sreekrishnan Narayanan (Talk) 10:21, 31 December 2023 (UTC)
- I have noted that the article has been restored to its previous version completely eliminating the contributions made by me and ignoring my response to your comments on my Talk Page yesterday. Be that as it may, whoever has resorted to this discourteous act aimed at hurting me as the contributor may only end up in disappointment, as personally, I simply ignore such provocations and forgive, for, they fail to think or understand the harm such acts may cause to the noble objectives of Wikipedia. If I am not allowed to edit articles in English Wikipedia as a bona-fide contributor, so be it. Thank you. @CaptainEek:

- Yes, I pinged you for a reason. My contributions to Bharatiya Sakshya Act, 2023 have completely been removed by an anonymous user without assigning any reason and I do not know if it would be possible to hold someone accountable for this and whether I may continue to face the risk of losing contributions made on English Wikipedia. I pinged you as you were initially assigned as a resource/mentor. I shall appreciate it if you are able to please guide me through this kind of situations.

Disambiguation link notification for January 30
editHi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Motor Vehicle Insurance (India), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Tempest. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Wikipedia and copyright
editHello Sree1959! Your additions to The Oriental Insurance Company have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably free and compatible copyright license. (To request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission.) While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues.
- You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
- Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
- We have strict guidelines on the usage of copyrighted images. Fair use images must meet all ten of the non-free content criteria in order to be used in articles, or they will be deleted. To be used on Wikipedia, all other images must be made available under a free and open copyright license that allows commercial and derivative reuse.
- If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into either the public domain (PD) or under a suitably free and compatible copyright license. Please see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
- Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps described at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. See also Help:Translation#License requirements.
It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, please ask them here on this page, or leave a message on my talk page. Thank you. — Diannaa (talk) 14:14, 3 February 2024 (UTC)
- @Diannaa Thank you Diannaa, noted. However, the Company is a Government company in terms of the relevant Indian laws and it is obligated to file certain reports with the relevant authorities that are available in the public domain. Even the Indian insurance regulator's website has published the link to disclosures of the insurance companies concerned. Sreekrishnan Narayanan (Talk) 15:18, 3 February 2024 (UTC)

- Noted and understood, thank you. Sreekrishnan Narayanan (Talk) 16:19, 3 February 2024 (UTC)
- Hi Diannaa, I wish to bring to your kind attention the following text that I happened to find on the official website of the insurance regulator which is interesting from the perspective that we have been discussing. See this link: https://irdai.gov.in/website-policies.
- Quote: CopyRight policy
- “Material featured on this site may be reproduced free of charge in any format or media without requiring specific permission. This is subject to the material being reproduced accurately and not being used in a derogatory manner or in a misleading context. Where the material is being published or issued to others, the source must be prominently acknowledged. However, the permission to reproduce this material does not extend to any material on this site, which is explicitly identified as being the copyright of a third party. Authorisation to reproduce such material must be obtained from the copyright holders concerned.”
- Sreekrishnan Narayanan (Talk) 16:32, 3 February 2024 (UTC)
- Yes, I've seen that policy before, on many Govt of India websites. The problem is the wording "reproduced accurately and not being used in a derogatory manner or in a misleading context". Our license allows modifications of any kind to the text so we can't guarantee that this rule will not be followed as time goes on. So that's not a compatible license. — Diannaa (talk) 00:22, 4 February 2024 (UTC)
- @Diannaa Agree, the interpretation matters at the end of the day and we need to be on the safer side. Thank you 👍 Sreekrishnan Narayanan (Talk) 12:20, 4 February 2024 (UTC)

Corrections of spelling and grammar
editIn this edit at Akshay Oberoi, several edits were made for Correction of grammatical and spelling errors
. Some of the changes in that edit were not spelling or grammar corrections, but the removal, insertion or modification of words in direct quotations or cited source article titles. While silent correction of insignificant spelling or grammar mistakes is allowed, inserting, deleting or modifying words can and does change the meaning and should not be done. I see that you are making dozens of corrections of grammar or spelling to other articles. I have not reviewed them to see if there are additional cases of inserting, removing, or modifying words, but urge you to go back and make sure you are not changing direct quotations or article titles in this manner. — Archer1234 (t·c) 15:33, 25 February 2024 (UTC)
- @Archer1234 Hi, thank you for your message. The intention was only to spell check and fix grammatical errors, but I shall have a relook at all the articles that were corrected by me. Any inadvertent omissions will be restored. Many thanks again.

Request
editHi Sir, I request your help to understand statistics available in Malayalam Wikipedia. This is to analyze the parameter Wikipedia article depth. Could you please confirm the data mentioned in these two tables are in same order:புள்ளிவிவரங்கள், സ്ഥിതിവിവരക്കണക്കുകൾ.
Article depth of Malayalam Wikipedia is 199, whereas Tamil Wikipedia is 34. I want to compare these two Wikipedias. This is to find ways to improve Tamil Wikipedia on the aspect of Article depth. - Selvasivagurunathan m (talk) 13:36, 5 April 2024 (UTC)
- Dear Selva Sir, I had a look at the links in Tamil Wikipedia and Malayalam Wikipedia and can confirm that both the statistics are almost identical, barring the following items: -
- Bots with Administrative privileges (കാര്യനിർവാഹക അവകാശങ്ങളുള്ള യന്ത്രങ്ങൾ) found in the Malayalam Wikipedia does not seem to have its equivalent in Tamil Wikipedia;
- The item nocreate found in Tamil Wikipedia with 30 members listed against it is not found in Malayalam Wikipedia;
- I believe, this helps.

Requesting inputs
edit@Sree1959 Hi, Requesting your inputs at Talk:Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita#'Repealed' wording okay for IPC? Bookku (talk) 16:46, 12 June 2024 (UTC)
- The intention of the Government of India was to "Indianise" colonial laws in phases and the Criminal Laws were sought to be introduced virtually nullifying the IPC, Cr. PC and the Evidence Act that were enacted during the British rule and replacing them with the "Indian" versions of these laws (even their titles are not in English). However, there has been controversies ever since these laws were introduced and perhaps they may be subjected to the scrutiny of the Supreme Court of India from the perspective of their constitutionality, at least in part of the provisions. Since there are provisions of the British enacted laws albeit with changes in the section numbers, these have not been totally replaced and hence the term "repealed" was used. If the usage is contested supported by valid reasons, the terminology may be amended as appropriate.
