Speedy deletion nomination of AV Anand
editIf this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on AV Anand requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person, organization (band, club, company, etc.) or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Yasht101 (talk) 15:35, 4 February 2012 (UTC)
Re: A. V. Anand
editHi Srikanth, thanks for wanting to help out on Wikipedia, I'll gladly assist you in getting this article into shape. The text needs work before we can place it into the mainspace and make a DYK request (so it can appear on Did you know...). I hope to make some helpful edits in the next few days and I would ask you to seek out more reliable sources on Mr. Anand and add them to the subpage and check the flow and neutrality of the text. For example, the text states as matter-of-fact that Mr. Anand is "talented and vibrant", which does not adhere to a neutral point of view. When it comes to accomplishments, it's better to list what a person has done (and what notable awards, if any, they received) and let the biographical data speak for themselves. One could also specify what reliable source described Mr. Anand as "talented and vibrant" - this would remove the point of view problem, too. Furthermore, to know what sources are reliable sources, please check Wikipedia:Identifying reliable sources. Most importantly, if this article is to become a Wikipedia article, the article has to show that the article subject, Mr. Anand, fulfills the notability criteria of WP:MUSICBIO. English sources are an obvious choice for the English Wikipedia, but even sources in Kannada or another language may be possible sources for this article. However, I sadly only speak English and German so I can't help locate any of those. If you have questions, feel free to ask on my talk page. Best regards Hekerui (talk) 12:04, 13 February 2012 (UTC)
- Hey, I saw your note on my talk page (archive)--you were logged out, so I removed it to keep your IP hidden. Don't forget to log in! Good luck--I see that Hekerui is helping here. Hekerui, thank you so much. Drmies (talk) 15:23, 13 February 2012 (UTC)
- Pity: Google Books has nothing to offer. Your man does have beautiful finger nails. Drmies (talk) 15:27, 13 February 2012 (UTC)
Hi Srikanth, I rewrote the text on your subpage using reliable sources. Sadly, there is very little substantial content on Anand on th internet. I also want to mention that I found that you had copied the previous text on the subpage from a website at http://www.amritkhanjira.com/shri_a_v_anand.html You can't add copyrighted material to Wikipedia without permission from the copyright holder. Legally, we can't use copyrighted text from websites or printed material and such content will be deleted. Other websites can only be sources for information, not copying. Aside from that, I'm not quite sure whether Mr. Anand fulfills the criteria for inclusion of musicians on Wikipedia with the sourcing we have so far, maybe Drmies can give an opinion.
