Jason Griffith

Could you look at Jason Griffith and Talk:Jason Griffith? BTVA is an unofficial site, and thus not reliable I believe. I also have suspicions about the user who keeps adding them back. The fact that they've been here two years and still seems unable to sign their own posts, and their repeated 'apologies' for their 'mistakes' and then doing them again makes me wonder. Anyhoo, cheers. :) --Ebyabe talk - State of the Union07:57, 27 November 2016 (UTC)

I really don't like BTVA either. The FAQ states "...unlike user submitted sites like imdb and wikipedia our sources come from official voice actor websites, voice actor resumes, DVD/Blu-ray ending credits and from conversations with the voice actors & voice directors who actually worked on the titles", yet reading their Terms of Use, it's implied that they do have some user-generated content ("6.1 Some of the Services may allow you to submit or transmit materials, including but not limited to text, image, audio, video, ideas, suggestions, plans, concepts, methods, know-how, techniques, original or creative materials or other information (collectively, 'User Submissions') to or through the Services."). According to this, BTVA may be used as a source in certain situations, such as credits with green check marks. Sro23 (talk) 11:26, 27 November 2016 (UTC)

Work submitted to Wikipedia can be edited, used, and redistributed—by anyone—subject to certain terms and conditions.

Stop editing my userpage. UnjustNation (talk) 15:27, 27 November 2016 (UTC)

Key phrase being "subject to certain terms and conditions". Copying and pasting without proper attribution is a copyright violation, not to mention you are impersonating someone else. Goodbye troll. Sro23 (talk) 15:30, 27 November 2016 (UTC)
I've read all the terms and conditions, I've violated none of it. There is no rule on wikipedia that prevents you from impersonating someone, so stfu. You're not a moderator/admin so don't act like you're one. UnjustNation (talk) 15:39, 27 November 2016 (UTC)
How about this rule? Dat GuyTalkContribs 15:41, 27 November 2016 (UTC)
Basically says you can't have/create a username that contains fuck or any other profanity, and that users can only use one account, I'm sure wikipedia already knows that my IP address is linked to only 1 account :/ You fail, try again. UnjustNation (talk) 15:50, 27 November 2016 (UTC)
(talk page stalker)Wow, you certainly are having what seems to be a bad day, UnjustNation. Just so you know, Wikipedia is a community and community members (like Sro23 and myself as well as others) are justified in bringing policy violations and issues to the attention to users such as yourself. One need not be an admin to do so. Please rethink your attitude and "stfu"-like comments before you end up blocked. You don't want that to happen again, do you? -- WV 15:53, 27 November 2016 (UTC)'
If you didn't notice, he's the one who called me a troll first, so I replied in kind. Besides there is no point in arguing anymore, I believe I'm already in the clear in regards to the original argument. UnjustNation (talk) 16:04, 27 November 2016 (UTC)
Whatever. What you're not "in the clear" for is copying over someone else's User page contents and placing them on your own. You're a new editor but have the User page of a non-newbie? That's completely dishonest and misleading. You really need to remove all of it that truly does not apply. -- WV 16:11, 27 November 2016 (UTC)
Please show me the rule where it says I can't do that, and I'll gladly remove it. Being dishonest and misleading on my userpage isn't illegal, I could claim I'm a 3 foot midget with one arm and you still couldn't do anything to disprove it. You don't like what's on my userpage, then don't look at it. It's "MY" userpage and I'll do what I like with it, I don't interfere with what you do on yours and neither should you with what others do with theirs.UnjustNation (talk) 16:21, 27 November 2016 (UTC)
Actually, no, it's not yours, it belongs to Wikipedia. There are policies regarding talk pages and user pages. Please see WP:UP, specifically WP:UP#OWN for more. -- WV 16:27, 27 November 2016 (UTC)
Already read it, it says nothing regarding using others userpage content, well there is one about copyrights but his userpage is obviously not copyright protected, if it is then I'd like to see the copyright registration papers. As for fair usage, this quote from the article perfectly sums up my situation "Traditionally Wikipedia offers wide latitude to users to manage their user space as they see fit. However, pages in user space belong to the wider community. They are not a personal homepage, and do not belong to the user. They are part of Wikipedia, and exist to make collaboration among editors easier." Key quote - wider community. You are free to provide a quote from that page that proves otherwise but until then I have no intention of removing anything from my userpage.UnjustNation (talk) 16:47, 27 November 2016 (UTC)
WP:CWW. Also, fair use is not permitted in userspace. Additionally, copying the userpage of someone you've been in a dispute with is always going to look like disruption. -- zzuuzz (talk) 16:59, 27 November 2016 (UTC)

Ruse by Alleditersmustfollowrules?

86.163.56.201 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) deleted content again on cartoon articles. Shortly afterwards, Alleditersmustfollowrules (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) account was created and reverted 86.163.56.201's edits. Then the hordes jumped on Alleditersmustfollowrules and reverted Alleditersmustfollowrules's reverts, leaving the articles in 86.163.56.201's state. Looks like a ruse to me. I reverted most to their pre-86.163.56.201 state. Those claims such as It is one of the very few shorts in which Tom emerges victorious over Jerry. have been there for several years. I suppose the cartoon is the source for most part... Cheers Jim1138 (talk) 08:56, 1 December 2016 (UTC)

Mughal Sikh wars edit

Can you explain your edit?

https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Mughal-Sikh_Wars&diff=754271277&oldid=754230533

Previous version was nearly a blanket removal of whole longstanding content which now sourced, Mughals had defeated Banda but that's not war was all about. Sikhs defeated Mughals, "but was defeated by the Sikhs near Gurdaspur, where they had built a stronghold."[1] Capitals00 (talk) 05:42, 12 December 2016 (UTC)

You restored an Amanharleen sock's preferred version of the page. The only difference was you slapped a few google books in the references section. [2] But I guess that's better than zero sources. Sro23 (talk) 05:48, 12 December 2016 (UTC)

That really sucks. What a bunch of BS that decline reason was. I guess the next step is to start a thread on WP:ANI, but to be honest I've never felt comfortable doing that unless it's absolutely necessary. Would you be okay waiting for the current protection level to expire in a few days and the inevitable happening, ridiculous as that sounds? If they still refuse to add indefinite or at least long-term EC protection to your talk after that, I will be so mad and for sure will bring the issue to ANI's attention. I'm sure if we explain the situation, there's got to be more sympathetic administrators out there. Sro23 (talk) 00:26, 24 December 2016 (UTC)

SPI talk page

Hi Sro23, I felt I had to delete the Talk page you created. I understand that people have to vent, particularly those of us who spend a fair amount of time at SPI, but it wasn't really a good idea to do it in that way. Why don't you contact me privately about this account? Regards.--Bbb23 (talk) 15:21, 26 December 2016 (UTC)

I'm sorry for creating that talk page to vent my cryptic frustrations. @Thomas.W: @Bbb23: I'll probably regret this, but I'm going to give the names here because I hate writing emails. Sure hope the user doesn't see this.
There are actually a few accounts I think are socks; two have already been blocked and one hasn't. The first is Martin Trackers. That account was blocked as a suspected Cow cleaner 5000 sock, right around the time another obvious sock was going on a vandalism rampage. If you really examine the behavior before it started the vandalism, you can tell it definitely isn't Cow cleaner 5000. I think this was Evlekis impersonating CC5k. I made a comment about it on the SPI but it was just kind of ignored. The second user is Dumfounded watsD. Aggressive to other users, was blocked for unrelated reasons. I believe the current good hand account is Osterrich. When they first started editing, they had this kinda act where they would remove everything that's unsourced (which I still don't really understand), and when I used rollback on them they got so mad and I thought to myself, "that's such an Evlekis thing" (Ever notice that? He seems to dislike rollbackers, I guess because he had that right taken away at some point). I really have no solid proof this user is a sock, aside from the behavioral nuances and weak connections to the other two blocked users (such as here, here and here). So we just have to wait until he decides to reveal himself. Or I could be wrong. Could have just done WP:AGF an embarrassingly massive disservice. I said I know this is Evlekis, but it feels like I've been wrong about a lot of things lately. Sro23 (talk) 05:02, 27 December 2016 (UTC)
You'll be comforted to know that you were right about this. All three accounts are   Confirmed to Evlekis. I've tagged the blocked accounts and blocked/tagged Osterrich. Not surprisingly, when doing the check, I found several other socks along the way. Don't ever worry about being "wrong". As far as I'm concerned, you have an excellent track record. We're all wrong occasionally, goes with the territory.--Bbb23 (talk) 17:06, 27 December 2016 (UTC)

January 2017

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. You appear to be repeatedly reverting or undoing other editors' contributions. Although this may seem necessary to protect your preferred version of a page, on Wikipedia this is known as "edit warring" and is usually seen as obstructing the normal editing process, as it often creates animosity between editors. Instead of reverting, please discuss the situation with the editor(s) involved and try to reach a consensus on the talk page.

If editors continue to revert to their preferred version they are likely to be blocked from editing Wikipedia. This isn't done to punish an editor, but to prevent the disruption caused by edit warring. In particular, editors should be aware of the three-revert rule, which says that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Edit warring on Wikipedia is not acceptable in any amount, and violating the three-revert rule is very likely to lead to a blockage. Thank you. LibertyDash (talk) 01:25, 4 January 2017 (UTC)

Yeah. Takes two to edit war. Sro23 (talk) 01:27, 4 January 2017 (UTC)

Abusive username creation

Thanks for the feedback! I'm not sure the titleblacklist entry is effective, so I've also created Special:AbuseFilter/827, which caught a bunch of attempts when in log-only mode, and is now in disallow mode, and has blocked two recent attempts as a result. Please let me know if you have any other trouble I can help with. Best wishes, -- The Anome (talk) 10:32, 18 January 2017 (UTC)

Thank you for doing that. You have no idea how relieved I am to not have to worry about my username being directly associated with these vandals anymore, even if they try to find ways around it. It's a good feeling. Sro23 (talk) 12:54, 18 January 2017 (UTC)

Just wondering

Why did you revert my talk conversation on wolfdog? It was a conversation I started that just had one reply. I wasn't editing anything other than my conversation. If wolfdog wants to keep it, he can. Belgiandude (talk) 00:53, 21 January 2017 (UTC)

WP:REDACTED explains it all very nicely. You can only remove your own comments if no one has responded to them. Once someone does respond however, you may not remove your comment or change its meaning. Sro23 (talk) 00:57, 21 January 2017 (UTC)

Yes. The range is 2601:1c1:8900:59a0::/64. It's been blocked several times before, but Wattsj528 keeps returning to it. Sro23 (talk) 20:11, 22 January 2017 (UTC)

Yes, definitely appears to be a problematic editor. However my understanding is you're supposed to allow creators at least 10-15 minutes to work on their articles before slapping a speedy deletion template on it. Sro23 (talk) 03:21, 1 February 2017 (UTC)

Alcohol Justice Criticism

The articles for many other organizations which has been subject to criticism, such as Mothers Against Drunk Driving, mention the criticism the organization has been subject to. Why can't the article for Alcohol Justice mention the criticism that organization has been subject to? 2600:1002:B11E:E896:9857:AE94:7B6F:3C3D (talk) 03:30, 10 February 2017 (UTC)

To answer the question you posted on my talk page, none of the edits you referenced were done by me. There are a lot of IP addresses in that format, used by many different people, some of them happening to be IP-hopping vandals. There are also legitimate editors who have IP addresses in that format. For that reason, you should not assume that all those IP addresses belong to an IP-hopping vandal. 2600:1002:B11E:E896:9857:AE94:7B6F:3C3D (talk) 20:54, 10 February 2017 (UTC)

Crystal Spring, Minnesota

Hi-I started an article about Crystal Spring (community), Minnesota an unincorporated community in Winona County, Minnesota. However, I ran into problems with the redirect. Initially the article was Crystal Spring, Minnesota and I changed it to Crystal Spring (community), Minnesota hoping that would clear up the redirect problem-it has not. Would you please help with the redirect problems. the unincorporated community has an GNIS and it does exists. Thank you-RFD (talk) 19:17, 26 February 2017 (UTC)

Who's this?

This is somebody, but I can't remember who for the life of me. Do you recall by any chance? ~ Rob13Talk 00:19, 28 February 2017 (UTC)

I agree it's probably not a new user, but I have no idea who. POV nationalistic edit warriors are one of the most common types of sockpuppets/sockmasters, there's got to be hundreds and hundreds of them. Sro23 (talk) 00:36, 28 February 2017 (UTC)
Specifically, I recall an SPI over the past 1-2 weeks that had exactly single letter creations of userpage, user talk, and user sandbox as the first three edits as one of the traits of the master. bah - guess I'll have to dig through my contribs to find it. ~ Rob13Talk 03:42, 28 February 2017 (UTC)

Further block evasion

Hello Sro23, Just to let you know that the block evader WelcometoJurassicPark/IP:89.132.32.170 has again re-surfaced as 89.132.54.125 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log), making exactly the same "edits" and from the same location as before. I have managed to revert the edits made regarding the World Trade Center and informed Acroterion, but due to family circumstances, have not had the time to revert the rest of these rather silly edits. Just thought you would like to be informed. Best regards, David, David J Johnson (talk) 22:11, 28 February 2017 (UTC)

A big thank you to The Voidwalker and Chrissymad who took the time to revert the IP's disruption. Sro23 (talk) 00:20, 1 March 2017 (UTC)

An IP messaged me regarding my reverting of them on this page, and I'm seeing that you tagged them as long-term abuse. Who are they and what is the exact behavior? I left the next edit alone not knowing for sure what was up, figuring that you'd come around again, and sure enough you did. :) Home Lander (talk) 19:35, 2 March 2017 (UTC)

It's block evasion by The abominable Wiki troll. The edit summaries and IP range he's using basically confirm this. Sro23 (talk) 23:37, 2 March 2017 (UTC)

You made a mistake

On User talk:WhoaHoa, you tagged the account as suspected TAWT, but it is in fact actually Mangoeater1000. He set up the account to leave this shocking comment[4] on one of my Italian IPs, after the Bill Goldberg edit war. I responded on User talk:WhoaHoa using another Italian IP. Only fair that the right LTA gets the right tag, right?

Oh, and Mangoeater is doing the rounds, making IP edits on innumerable users' talk pages, asking them to restore his sock section at Bill Goldberg. So watch out for that. All the best. 82.221.133.50 (talk) 20:35, 9 March 2017 (UTC)

Axel Braun

I noticed that you have reverted to Hullabaloo Wolfowitz's revision based on two web archive file that he just posted. Those are not the current versions of the same articles. Vanity Fair has since rectified the wrong name Alessandro Ferro and the same page now shows the correct name Alessandro Re as you can see if you click on the current link[1]. Same with the XBIZ article by Rhett Pardon, which has since been rectified.[2] It appears that Hullabaloo Wolfowitz is consciously vandalizing Braun's page, and judging from his talk page he has a habit of engaging in disruptive behavior and edit wars, which is the antithesis of what the Wikipedia community stands for. Thank you for your attention on the matter, and please let me know your thoughts. 2605:E000:2D8E:BA00:D86:D2E9:2CE2:630C (talk) 06:16, 11 March 2017 (UTC)
