Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Old Saxon grammar, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Dutch, English and German (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

I don't know how to remove disambiguations, could one help me doing it? --Stardsen (talk) 22:18, 2 September 2013 (UTC)Reply
This disambiguation message is mostly just a maintenance message. If you want to fix the links, check the linked disambiguation pages (German (disambiguation) for example) for a more specific, direct link and replace it in the article. For example, using "German" in a language-related article would likely better point to "German language" (replace German with the piped link German) as the more relevant topic, or to "Germany" for other more general usages of the term as adjective. Categories "Old Saxony" <-> "Old Saxon language"

edit

Hello Stardsen, i noticed you added the language category to Otto I and other articles about German dukes and kings. I am not sure, this is the intended usage for this category (but then, i am relatively unfamiliar with categories). From a quick check language-related categories are used for language articles about dialects, grammar or notable works in the language, not necessarily for all persons speaking that language. I have reverted that addition to Otto I for now, but would be happy to discuss, if you disagree. Regards. GermanJoe (talk) 07:15, 24 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

Sorry it's true that it doesn't have to do with it^^ thanks for fixing up :) --Stardsen (talk) 16:49, 24 September 2013 (UTC)Reply
Just as a quick note, you don't have to add 2 categories, if one of them is an obvious sub-category of the other (f.e. "Old Saxon language" is fully included as sub-category of "Old Saxony", so it is redundant to add "Old Saxony" again). GermanJoe (talk) 17:54, 24 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

John the Old Saxon

edit

Stardsen: Thank you for writing up John the Old Saxon. I improved it a little bit. However, I need to point out two things to you. First and relatively unimportant, don't link individual years; We don't do that on this Wikipedia. Second and a lot more important: I discovered that the text was basically lifted wholesale from the ODNB entry. This is copyright violation and a serious matter. Listing the source at the end of the article or even in footnotes is not sufficient; articles must be in editors' own words, and preferably summarised. I've done my best to recast it, but if you have copied text into other articles, please go back and substitute a summary in your own words. Footnotes tell the reader where you got the information, and where to look for more detail; it is never necessary to use someone else's words except in brief quotations (for example when referring to one scholar or critic's opinion about something). Old Saxon phonology: palatalized spirant G

edit

Ƿes þu hal, Stardsen,

In Old Saxon phonology, I noticed that you refer to what I believe to be a heavily palatalized spirant allophone of Old Saxon /g/ as [ɣj].

Perhaps it would be better to refer to it as [ɣʲ] or [ʝ]? What do your sources say about it?

Briga (Gallo-Roman town) moved to draftspace

edit

An article you recently created, Briga (Gallo-Roman town), is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. ~StyyxTalk? 00:55, 21 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
