Disputed fair use rationale for Image:GoingBushCoverWeb.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:GoingBushCoverWeb.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 03:58, 7 November 2007 (UTC)

Duplicate images uploaded

Thanks for uploading Image:DSCF3152.JPG. A machine-controlled robot account noticed that you also uploaded the same image under the name Image:Baigai.JPG. The copy called Image:Baigai.JPG has been marked for speedy deletion since it is redundant. If this sounds okay to you, there is no need for you to take any action.

This is an automated message- you have not upset or annoyed anyone, and you do not need to respond. In the future, you may save yourself some confusion if you supply a meaningful file name and refer to 'my contributions' to remind yourself exactly which name you chose (file names are case sensitive, including the extension) so that you won't lose track of your uploads. For tips on good file naming, see Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions about this notice, or feel that the deletion is inappropriate, please contact User:Staecker, who operates the robot account. Staeckerbot 11:44, 11 November 2007 (UTC)

Helen Garner and the Archibald

Hi Sterry!
Completely agree: you right, me wrong - and thanks for the WP:LS link, I am now much better informed! I moved the Archibald info to the lead section because I didn't put enough thought into where a better place for it should be. I notice it's still there - I rely on you to find a better place for it.
As for removing the criteria for the prize removal, even tho it was right, didn't like doing it. I wish the article was ten times as long, and every single thing she's published was linked to good articles. Then again, I've read even Cosmo Cosmolino - twice!

Hi again,
And thanks for your even more generous reply! Sorry for being so slow to respond. I drafted some truly silly replies, like "précis of least silly reply, even.
As for Cosmo Cosmolino, it's worth reading just for Janet's lines
"Tell me Maxine," she said, straightening up from the lit stove and and flicking the dead match at the bin, "is there anything at all you don't believe in?"
Have you read Joe Cinque's Consolation? Gave me nightmares... (as only else did Once Were Warriors and Beloved (novel))
On to lighter topics in Canberra in Literature. Is 'The Bunyip that Ate Canberra' still well regarded? I do hope so.

I've fixed your talk archives

I was trying to find a message in one of my archives, came across our conversation in July about audio books and John Marsden, and was trying to read it in full. I noticed that your August archive linked to messages in September and October - I found that you had overwritten the August archive with the September-October one. I have cut and pasted that archive into a newly created September-October archive and reverted the July-August archive back to the way it was before. I hope you don't mind. I usually create a link to the archive first before archiving, to make sure that I'm archiving into a non-existent page. Another tip is to put talk archives on your watchlist, in case someone inappropriately changes an archive. Graham87 07:42, 27 November 2007 (UTC)

librarianship / subject headings

Hi Sterry2607 - nice to meet you; I'm Laura Quilter User:Lquilter. I'm also a librarian -- well, a former librarian; currently an information law attorney who works with librarians (in the States). Anyway, I wanted to respond to your comment on the editor's page about women writers. I too have been thinking about the use of subject headings and search terms in thinking about categories lately. If you don't already (or haven't previously) participated in categories for discussion, I think there are a lot of discussions that could use some sensible real-world approaches like that. ... the specific issues I was thinking of for subject headings & search terms wasn't women writers (although you're absolutely right) but other ethnic/occupational categories. Anyway -- obviously I have no idea what you might think about those issues, but I would love to see someone who's thinking about library & reference uses also keeping a weather eye on relevant discussions. ... Anyway good to meet another librarian. Cheers, Lquilter 13:18, 30 November 2007 (UTC)

Exciting that you were a film librarian/archivist! One of my best friends runs a film archiving program at NYU (Howard Besser). If you ever have Qs about categories here on wikipedia please feel free to ask me -- I've been doing them off & on for about a year. Doing a lot of work categorizing Category:Organizations right now as part of Wikipedia:WikiProject Organizations. --Lquilter 18:09, 30 November 2007 (UTC)

Category:Organizations for female writers

Hi, I saw your comments at Matthew Proctor's talk page, and thought you'd like to know that there's a CFD discussion under way for Category:Organizations for female writers. And I second Lquilter's remarks about having another librarian participating in those CFD proceedings. Regards, Cgingold 00:01, 1 December 2007 (UTC)

Robert Adamson (poet)

Hello Sterry2607. To answer your question, I think it can go either way. I simply changed it to a format that I am more used to. Please feel free to change it back. I am spending more time adding references to various poet stubs because many of them have no, or limited, references. This "lack of references" issue was my original intent also with the Robert Adamson (poet) article. Feel free to change it anyway you prefer. Thanks.ReadQT (talk) 17:50, 16 December 2007 (UTC)

Sure thing: if you look at the history of my edit, you'll see a link back to here. This is a treasure-trove of photos I discovered a couple of days ago, completely by accident, so I added a whole bunch to some articles that caught my eye. It seems to me there is a bot there looking for pics on Wikimedia, and conveniently displaying them for anyone to pick up (the stuff is refreshed periodically). Moreover, clicking on a link does the pasting of the image automatically -- one still needs to tweak the placement and/or the caption sometimes. At any rate, looks like a great idea to me -- hope you'll find it of some use. Turgidson (talk) 07:51, 27 December 2007 (UTC)
