Adding images is somewhat tricky due to copyright issues. If you took the photos yourself and are willing to release them under a free license that allows everybody to re-use and modify them for any purpose, including commercial purposes, you can upload them to the Wikimedia Commons via their Upload Wizard. If you didn't take them yourself, you will need to ascertain that the copyright holder has released them under a free license compatible with Wikipedia's needs (essentially, a Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license or something similar or less restrictive). See WP:Requesting copyright permission for advice on how to contact copyright holders.
Once the image is uploaded, the picture tutorial explains, with examples, how to display it within a Wikipedia article. Huon (talk) 12:34, 22 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

I have tried uploading the pictures and it says "retry failed uploads" but it will not allow or take me back to edit a retry. Is there somewhere I can send the pictures and someone else upload them that is more proficient than me. mackay65@comcast.net Please help me with...

Steven McGee (talk) 15:22, 22 October 2016 (UTC) Steven McGeeReply

There is WP:Files for upload, but for obvious reasons it requires the images to already be available online. If you have a Flickr account you can upload them there and release them under an appropriate free license. You could also put them on other file sharing sites but would need to provide evidence of the licensing - it's not enough to upload the images in some place and to then declare on Wikipedia that they are freely licensed.
As an alternative, you can send the images along with a permission form (such as this one) to permissions-commons wikimedia.org and ask people there to upload the images on your behalf. Huon (talk) 15:35, 22 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

I think I screwed up the Adrian, Michigan page. I added the land patent of Addison Comstock but it changed the "History" heading and the ability to make future edits of that section. It came out in the explanation of the patent as "Tis" instead of THIS a copy of.... and I can't go back and edit. Please help me with...

Steven McGee (talk) 11:16, 23 October 2016 (UTC)Steven McGeeReply

I've fixed the heading now. You inserted the picture inside the header, which made it disappear. Also, there's no need to add words like "this is a...", the caption needs just to describe the image (e.g. "Airbus 320 during flight"). —Hexafluoride Ping me if you need help, or post on my talk 12:26, 23 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

Hello, I'm Amaury. I wanted to let you know that I reverted one of your recent contributions —the one you made with this edit to Adrian, Michigan— because it did not appear constructive. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. Unspecified source/license for File:Company Fire.jpeg

edit

Thanks for uploading File:Company Fire.jpeg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. Even if you created the image yourself, you still need to release it so Wikipedia can use it. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time after the next seven days. If you made this image yourself, you can use copyright tags like {{PD-self}} (to release all rights), {{self|cc-by-sa-4.0}} (to require that you be credited), or any tag here - just go to the image, click edit, and add one of those. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by MifterBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. NOTE: Once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. --MifterBot (TalkContribsOwner) 21:45, 26 July 2020 (UTC)Reply
