Your user page
editHello Stephanie (I'm guessing that you are Stephanie Taylor).
I don't see the problem with cite error, but it usually occurs when you have used a <ref>...</ref> pair somewhere in a page but haven't followed it up with a {{references}} template later in the page.
There are some other issues with your page. You have probably noticed the formatting problems - don't indent paragraphs, because a line beginning with a space will not be wrapped.
I am guessing that you are intending this eventually to be an article, rather than your user page. If you are trying to cite references, you are probably aware of the requirements that all information in an article, particularly a biography of a living person must be references to a reliable source; but I'm not sure that you realise that if an article does not meet the requirements of notability (that its subject must be discussed in multiple independent reliable sources) then it is likely to get deleted.
One more point: if you are indeed Stephanie Taylor, then you need to be aware that autobiography is strongly discouraged in Wikipedia, because of the difficulty of writing neutrally, and because it is so likely to be promotional in intent.
Sorry to bring you bad news about what you're doing, but I'd rather point this out before you put more work into what may be a dead end. --ColinFine (talk) 22:56, 22 September 2012 (UTC)
- Hi Colin, Yes, I am trying to create my own article, as I have a long art career, collectors across the US and have been writing for the Sacramento Bee. If I can't create my own article, would you or someone else be willing to do so for me? I do want to be a well behaved wiki participant. I'd appreciate any suggestions and thanks.Stephanie Taylor: artist/writer 23:17, 22 September 2012 (UTC)
- Three suggestions:
- Continue working on your own article, but use the Articles for creation process. Make it as neutral and well-referenced as you can, and then request a review. But prepare to receive some tough criticism.
- make a request at WP:Requested articles. The more independent reliable references you can give, the more attractive the project will be for somebody to pick it up, but we are all volunteers, and there is quite a backlog.
- Find a suitable Wikiproject, such as WP:WikiProject Art, and ask if anybody there will work with you.
- Good luck. --ColinFine (talk) 11:35, 23 September 2012 (UTC)
