Erol Otus

edit

Thanks for shoring up the Erol Otus article. If you have access to a picture that would be great. I can find no information handy about his date of birth and so on. That would be helpful. I had not intended to spend so much time on Otus' article, but it does seem odd that an artist like that had such a badly written spot on Wikipedia. I would love to find some review of his work that mentions his Mondo Snarfo style leanings. Thanks again. - Dicecollector29 (talk) 00:22, 18 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

The Ultimates

Hi. I just wanted to say good job on splitting off the various Ultimates miniseries into their own articles, in order to help trim the main one. I assume you're eventually going to do the same with the first miniseries. Kudos! Nightscream (talk) 11:50, 22 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Re:Lady Snowblood

edit

{{Graphic novel list}} is the standard for list of chapters and manga volumes. Just look at the featured lists of the Animanga project. Also, per the Animanga manual of style, such lists go under a "Media" heading. Perhaps it's a problem on your end (display settings, internet browser), but the article looks fine over here.

About the "Reception" section: one line from a two paragraph review does not make a section. A sourced comment on the manga's (and its adaptation's) influence on a known director does. If you have further objections, take them up in Lady Snowblood's talk page, where I'll gladly respond.--Nohansen (talk) 09:51, 9 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hi. Thanks for reverting the article. However, you also reverted some legitimate edits that Asgardian made that fixed some areas in terms of grammar and syntax. Hi. Thanks for adding the Selected Bibliography section to the article, and for removing the stub. However, the source you cited for your edit makes no mention of his marital status. Nightscream (talk) 20:13, 4 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Sure. In fact, I'd add the other stuff pertinent to his personal life too, like the mention of siblings, that he grew up in Jersey, etc. Nightscream (talk) 20:42, 5 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Chrissie Zullo

edit

The key for notability is finding multiple independent reliable sources. This is why I generally don't create many new article, and when I do, I make sure, even if I just leave them as stubs, that I include at least a few sources that establish the subject's notability. I would search sites like Comic Book Resources and Newsarama for interviews and stories about her. A search at the former yields this set of results, the first one of which is this interview with Zullo, so that's a good place to start.

And don't forget to sign your talk page posts! :-) :-) Nightscream (talk) 07:59, 18 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

This may be my personal bias, and not necessarily any official policy or guideline, but I feel that an editor who creates an article, even in stub form, should demonstrate some level of commitment in developing the article. I'd feel far more comfortable in removing the deletion tag if you looked through that CBR interview, and added some of its info to the article body, instead of just sticking it in the EL section. For example, the Bibliography section just says that she's done "covers" and "interiors" on certain books, but makes no mention of any issues. Why not add those? Why not read the interview and add material to the article relevant to her biography, training or career that's supported by that interview? It would make her notability more explicit, IMHO. Nightscream (talk) 15:46, 18 May 2011 (UTC)Reply
The one thing I would caution you about is passages like "Her work has been compared to Fables cover artist James Jean". Looking through the source in question shows that it's her who's doing the comparison, so I would reword it to make it clear that it's not praise from a source independent of her, because that's what it reads like. I did that, and added the other influences she mentioned, both in the article body and in the Lead and Infobox.
The rest are minor nitpicky-things for future reference:
  • As per WP:PAIC, punctuation should go right at the end of a sentence or passage, and then followed right after that by the citation. Punctuation shouldn't go after the cite, nor should any spaces. It is unnecessary to put a period both before and after the cite at the end of a sentence.
  • Only the first word of a section heading and any proper nouns therein should be capitalized.
  • When it is available, make sure you include all the info in the citation, such as publisher (the name of the website), the author of the article, the date of the citation, etc.
  • A minor point, but book titles are italicized, so this may make the article look a bit better-developed.
I fixed these minor things myself, so this is just for future reference. I think her notability has been established now, so I removed the SD tag.
Btw, just out of curiosity, does Canada use British English spellings? Do you feel this should apply to Zullo's article because she's from Canada originally? One of the sources indicates that she's lived up and down the East Coast of the U.S., so I'm guessing she's an American now. Nightscream (talk) 01:14, 19 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
