Not sure if this is an automated message or actually hand written but either way thank you for this. These links will prove helpful I am sure. Thanks again StopSayingMyth (talk) 18:41, 22 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
Welcome messages are done by template, we don't really handtype them for every account, but mostly only real users (not bots) put welcome templates on user talk pages, so I am a real human :D noticed the teahouse thread and decided to leave a message, good luck here and yeah the links helped a lot when I was starting editing Justiyaya 18:45, 22 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
Glad to know there are some kind people on this site. Thanks for taking the time to welcome me.
I am sadly experiencing a lot of discrimination and bias right now on the Hindu mythology page and debating whether I want to continue with this community....Is there anyone who can be contacted about this? StopSayingMyth (talk) 18:52, 22 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
No, it is not discrimination nor bias, as established at the bottom of the page, we do the same for other religions too. The relevant policy is WP:COMMONNAME which establishes that the most commonly used name for a subject should be the article title, which is the case in this situation. I do not believe there is any issue in relation with the article title. Any resolution concurring with your argument is highly unlikely. I suggest that you drop the issue and work on other aspects of the encyclopedia (see WP:Task). Justiyaya 19:11, 22 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
Well systemic discrimination is worse. I hope all people can stop being demeaned at some point but for now all I can do is try to cause change on the pages that are important to me. Hopefully more of us will stop being initimidated by the cleanliness of this site and it can be more like a community and less of people in higher places enforcing discrimination "equally". StopSayingMyth (talk) 19:20, 22 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
Wikipedia is a community. That's why things are decided via consensus. You're welcome to try and establish consensus to change the names of all those pages from "mythology" to "stories". But your solitary opinion that it should be changed, regardless of whatever reason you believe it should, is not going to be enough. WPscatter t/c 19:38, 22 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
Hey a reasonable response wow. Glad to see this. Thank you for your understanding. I suppose then this is a very good goal you have described, to try to establish consensus among the people on this site and get the word changed. I have been calm, civil, and looking for unity since I arrived and I will continue to pursue this goal in the same manner. I think no one should be discriminated against, even those we don't like. StopSayingMyth (talk) 20:52, 22 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
Keep in mind, @StopSayingMyth, that part of civil discussion is to acknowledge when you've lost the battle and stop belaboring the point. WPscatter t/c 21:17, 22 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
Who are you to tell someone what to do? I will decide what I believe and maybe you can decide to learn how to treat others. Sorry I have to link the articles for you to take me seriously as a human being. Might I suggest starting with Love, Kindness, Respect, and your favorite Gaslighting. If the notifier has not provided a reason for the violation then I do not need to provide a reason to defend myself. Please dismiss this biased complaint, thank you StopSayingMyth (talk) 20:54, 22 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
It doesn't violate any username policy, but it does betray your intent as a single purpose account and you will likely be blocked soon because you keep pushing the same point that you have been repeatedly told is nonsense. WPscatter t/c 21:15, 22 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
If it doesn't violate any username policy than maybe you should go get some fresh air instead of obsessing over me and my username choices ;) StopSayingMyth (talk) 21:26, 22 June 2023 (UTC)Reply

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Yama. This means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be although other editors disagree. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus, rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Points to note:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made;
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes and work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. 199.208.172.35 (talk) 21:37, 22 June 2023 (UTC)Reply

This is your only warning; if you make personal attacks on others again, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. Comment on content, not on other contributors or people. Acroterion (talk) 23:53, 22 June 2023 (UTC)Reply

Can I please have a link to where I personally attacked someone? I want to know what is considered personal attacks as every community has a different definition. Thank you StopSayingMyth (talk) 23:59, 22 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
== WP:ANI notification ==

Please see the discussion I started at the administrators' noticeboard regarding your conduct. Feel free to respond there. Abecedare (talk) 22:00, 22 June 2023 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for notifying me. As long as there is a discussion going and my points have not been refuted I will continue to post. There is nothing "warring" about continuing the discussion and trying to reach consensus. If I am warring then so too are the people who are reporting my username, responding as often as me, and trying to demean my position as if I don't deserve to continue speaking just because they as a group disagree. StopSayingMyth (talk) 22:16, 22 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
Your points have been refuted, several times. "Myth" is not a discriminatory word and you will not convince any other editors that it is. Just because you keep pretending they didn't refute you doesn't mean it didn't happen. It is long past time to drop the stick and at this point it's simply a matter of how long it takes an admin to notice before you're blocked from editing (especially considering the repeated personal attacks). WPscatter t/c 23:15, 22 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
All you have done is attempt to gaslight me. No examples, argument structure, premise, or conclusions. Stop harassing me and give a real point or I shall call admins on you.
Here is my argument clear and simple
Premise 1: Myth can be used in a demeaning way
Premise 2: We should not use demeaning words if synonyms are available
Premise 3: Many many many synonyms are available which do not demean
Conclusion: The word myth needs to be updated
But since you don't care about my argument you only care to try and attack and manipulate me personally I will give you this perspective also
Premise 1: If you are demeaning people you will react in a demeaning way to criticism
Premise 2: I have criticized your position and you have attempted to demean me
Conclusion: your entire position revolves around putting others down
Both my arguments are true. I will wait for your well structured and definitely not harassing replies. Thank you and take care StopSayingMyth (talk) 23:49, 22 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
However irritated you are with other editors, personal attacks of the kind on display immediately above are not acceptable. You are being disagreed with. That does not give you license treat other editors the way you have done here. Acroterion (talk) 23:55, 22 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
What have I said that was a personal attack? They have started this business of insulting me and putting me down and I am asking them to stop this. This is a personal attack to tell someone they are harassing me? I genuinely do not see the issue here StopSayingMyth (talk) 00:02, 23 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
Whether you think so or not, your conduct toward other users, especially on this talkpage, has been consistently hostile. That will not win any arguments, and if you do not reconsider your treatment of those who disagree with you, you will lose editing privileges. Acroterion (talk) 00:05, 23 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
I am hostile when others are hostile. Do you plan to ban them also or only me? StopSayingMyth (talk) 00:06, 23 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
You're being disagreed with. You aren't being attacked, and your behavior is what stands out from the outside.I recommend that you take a break, take a walk, do something other than sit at a keyboard for a while. Acroterion (talk) 00:10, 23 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
Yes thank you I may do that soon. My wife is telling me my face is getting too red haha. But do you not believe others were trying to intimidate and being hostile towards me? I have feel that I have been very harassed today and that is why I have reacted in this strong manner. StopSayingMyth (talk) 00:12, 23 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
Please tell me the appropriate response when I am dealing with harassment on the level you have observed. I am new to the site and unable to defend myself and that makes me an easy target for biased people. StopSayingMyth (talk) 00:10, 23 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
You aren't entitled to retaliate to something that you perceive as a slight. You cannot expect to win arguments every time, however much you believe int eh rightness of your views. In particular, you are not entitled to treat the encycloepdia project as a battleground, nor may you treat other editors as opponents to be overcome or defeated. You are expected to yield to consensus with as much grace as you can muster, or if you can't, to disengage. Acroterion (talk) 00:13, 23 June 2023 (UTC)Reply

Indefinite block

edit

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for disruptive editing and WP:BATTLEGROUND conduct to excess. I'll be blunt: for some reason, you seem to lack the required competence to realize that Hindu stories isn't a thing in the scholarship, and that the 'mythology' in Hindu mythology is the prevailing convention, overall (i.e. Buddhist mythology, Jewish mythology, Christian mythology, etc.). In your short time here, in pursuit of this singular idea, you have managed to attack multiple editors, accusing them of gaslighting, personal manipulation, being demeaning, being discriminatory, and more, all entirely without basis. If you are truly serious in contributing to the English Wikipedia, you will need to prove that you are up to the task (certainly beyond the raison d'etre of "mythology" somehow being offensive/discriminatory, and somehow, just for Hinduism), which includes being WP:CIVIL. Because, as it stands, you are WP:NOTCOMPATIBLE with this collaborative project.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text at the bottom of your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  El_C 00:24, 23 June 2023 (UTC)Reply

My username is not related to the validity and sincerity of my appeal StopSayingMyth (talk) 01:29, 23 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
Please reopen this appeal for others to judge for themselves StopSayingMyth (talk) 01:29, 23 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
Nope. You need to request unblocking here-- in full view of the Community. UTRS is only for those who cannot request unblocking on their talk pages. (Only I and a couple of others look at UTRS. It is out of the Community's view.) And the entire community can read the WP:ANI thread. And your user name tells me you are here only to argue. -- Deepfriedokra (talk) 01:45, 23 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
Please follow the unblock instructions in the block notice. -- Deepfriedokra (talk) 01:48, 23 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
I read them but do not understand how to do the actions named. Is it possible for you to post the appeal in that other public way for me, or maybe is there a place with a video or screenshots version as I don't understand some of the terms that are used. It says like "bottom of the talk page" but I'm not sure which actual button that means StopSayingMyth (talk) 01:53, 23 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
No buttons needed. Add the following text at the bottom of your talk page, starting with the double curly brackets and ending with the double curly brackets.
{{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}
Just like any edit except you're pasting in the unblock request. Replace "your reason here" with why you think you should be unblocked. -- Deepfriedokra (talk) 02:01, 23 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
I mean, you've been editing your talk page right along. -- Deepfriedokra (talk) 02:02, 23 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
Okay I understand so far. Does "bottom of the talk page" mean I use the add topic button? Or do I have to use the button at the top with the pencil that is like the complex editor thing I don't know how to use StopSayingMyth (talk) 02:06, 23 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
That would work-- new topic button -- Deepfriedokra (talk) 02:10, 23 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
Okay well thanks for the help. Now that you've seen me behave myself can you save me the trouble and just overturn my ban please. StopSayingMyth (talk) 02:14, 23 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
No, I think it important that the community and the unblock team see your unblock request and decide. -- Deepfriedokra (talk) 02:21, 23 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
Fair. Before I go just wanted to say my wife and I love Okra. Great name. I don't know if you actually eat okra or it's just a name but if not definitely eat it. We eat it like Indian style because we like to order Indian food but I've seen it at African places too. Just typing okra on Skip the Dishes gives great results. Have a good life friend, hopefully people will be kind to me <3 StopSayingMyth (talk) 02:24, 23 June 2023 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

I was blocked. The reason listed is that I was making it difficult for conversation to continue. However the last few responses from people before I was blocked were much friendlier and more reasonable than how they had been typing when I first started the discussions. People right before my block started using terms like "well" and "I'm not sure" and "that is a strange perspective". Before people were saying things like "shut up and accept you are wrong" and "stop pretending like you know anything". So clearly progress was being made even if it was slow and bumpy. Even the message I received for this ban showed that the person banning me knew I am a logical and reasonable person. Their message contained the phrase "I'll be blunt" which is something someone says if they feel comfortable enough to drop formalities and be honest with someone. I hope to be able to continue the discussions I was enjoying pursuing as they were making very good progress for my understanding of the topic as well as the understanding of the many people who were involved. I also understand for the future that bans come quickly and I should play the "call administrator" game when I feel harassed instead of trying to deal with it person to person (which is what I prefer but being banned sucks so I guess I'll try to call admin next time). Anyways, I'm a good person at heart and my intent is pure I just enjoy talking to people and learning and seeing others learn. I became hostile because I felt others were hostile. If others were kind I would have been more kind. I will try the call admin approach this time. Thank you for taking the time ❤️ Also permanent ban is a weird system. Like if you give me a one year ban or something then I will likely mature in that time and come back with a better attitude. Is it really fair to ever permanently ban a person? Well either way thanks for reading

Decline reason:

Per discussion below. — Daniel Case (talk) 06:49, 23 June 2023 (UTC)Reply

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

  • FYI, "indefinite" does not mean "permanent". It means that there's no preset end to the block, but it can be lifted at any time if an admin feels that there's no longer a need for it, for instance because you understand why you were block and are convincing about ceasing the behavior which brought it on. Beyond My Ken (talk) 02:42, 23 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
thank you for the info. Hoping an admin will be understanding StopSayingMyth (talk) 03:18, 23 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
I'm not an admin either, but I find it unlikely that you will be unblocked with your current reasoning, as you haven't addressed the issue that got you blocked. You may want to read WP:GAB. If you want to have any chance at being unblocked, you will need to apologise for your actions and promise not to do it again, along with a valid reason as to why the community should trust you with editing privileges. JML1148 (talk | contribs) 06:40, 23 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
Also, blaming it on other people, (e.g. "people were saying things like "shut up and accept you are wrong" and "stop pretending like you know anything") isn't going to work. JML1148 (talk | contribs) 06:42, 23 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
