Don't forget to subst: templates!

edit

Hi,

When using certain template tags on talk pages, don't forget to substitute with text by adding subst: to the template tag. For example, use {{subst:test}} instead of {{test}}. This reduces server load and prevents accidental blanking of the template.

Thanks! :)

Your Warning Template

edit

Are you happy for other RC users to use the 'Please Don't be Silly' template? Would it be an idea to boldly add a link to it at User Talk Templates? StoptheDatabaseState 17:11, 6 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

No problems - I'd be happy for others to use it - it's very helpful! I couldn't work out how to add them to the template page - but anyone else with a brain is welcome to.Brookie :) - a will o' the wisp ! (Whisper...) 17:13, 6 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hi i fixed it and i will fix it more but i did not copy it from that site sorry about that i will change it and check if its fine now. Nareklm 23:28, 13 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hi, I wanted to let you know that I removed the Speedy tag from this article after the author made some changes which addressed the copyvio issues. I tweaked it a bit to make sure, and I wanted to let you know. The tag was totally appropriate because the original version was almost verbatim from the site you referenced, but it seems to be resolved. If you decide it still warrants a Speedy at this point I won't revert or argue about it, but I think the stub is in compliance now. Thanks : ) Doc Tropics 00:19, 14 December 2006 (UTC)Reply
I agree, the article is fine now. StoptheDatabaseState 00:20, 14 December 2006 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for the help, Also may i ask how do i check for copyrights or plagiarism so i would know for sure that it is? Nareklm 03:30, 14 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

"blowing my own trumpet"

edit

The one I left on User talk:Charlie.somerville? Heh, that wasn't a template. He's been around for a few months, so I figured it was well worth leaving him an actual handwritten note. The part about "blowing his own trumpet" is from a comment he left on Talk:Interactive Multimedia Disc. FreplySpang 23:56, 15 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

.... and I'm so glad I bothered: [1]. :-P FreplySpang 23:57, 15 December 2006 (UTC)Reply
Is it OK if I make it into a template? There's nothing that really fits the bill for blatant self-promotion on the current grid. StoptheDatabaseState 23:58, 15 December 2006 (UTC)Reply
Please feel free! Cheers, FreplySpang 00:02, 16 December 2006 (UTC)Reply
I don't think it's useful to have the "blowing my own trumpet" quote in a template. I mentioned to Charlie Somerville because it was something he actually said on the Talk page for his article. Taking it out of context is likely to be confusing at best. FreplySpang 00:25, 16 December 2006 (UTC)Reply
"Is it OK if I make it into a template?" You asked her for permission but not me, I was the one who gave FreplySpang the idea to say coz i said it before... Charlie.somerville 00:28, 16 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hello. Sorry but I didn't quite understand what you meant on the new Talk Page. The Homes are a very famous Scottish family so I thought I would fill in the first lord's details. With regard to the page title I simple looked at others who were Lords of Parliament and copied their formats. David Lauder 21:39, 18 December 2006 (UTC).Reply

Re: Your User Page

edit

Just wanted to thank you for noticing the fact that I wanted vandalism to be left on my page, but still taking the time to inform me. The reason why I wanted it left is so that I knew I'd been vandalised and deal with it directly. Nevertheless some editors weren't as conscious as you were and reverted it therefore leaving me with not knowing at all that my page had been changed. I thank you for your help - you're a credit to Wikipedia :) Grinned2death 12:59, 14 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Corey Jones

edit

The article Corey Jones has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

BLP unsourced for almost 3 years; no evidence that he ever played on the team of which he was a member.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Bearian (talk) 18:38, 29 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

New deal for page patrollers

edit

Hi StoptheDatabaseState,

In order to better control the quality of new pages, keep out the spam, and welcome the genuine newbies, the current system we introduced in 2011 is being updated and improved. The documentation and tutorials have also been revised and given a facelift. Most importantly a new user group New Page Reviewer has been created.

Under the new rule, you may find that you are temporarily unable to mark new pages as reviewed. However, this is nothing to worry about - most current experienced patrollers are being accorded the the new right without the need to apply, and if you have significant previous experience of patrolling new pages, we strongly encourage you to apply for the new right as soon as possible - we need all the help we can get, and we are now providing a dynamic, supportive environment for your work.

Find out more about this exiting new user right now at New Page Reviewers and be sure to read the new tutorial before applying. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 04:29, 13 November 2016 (UTC)Reply

Greetings Recent Changes Patrollers!

This is a one-time-only message to inform you about technical proposals related to Recent Changes Patrol in the 2016 Community Wishlist Survey that I think you may be interested in reviewing and perhaps even voting for:

  1. Adjust number of entries and days at Last unpatrolled
  2. Editor-focused central editing dashboard
  3. "Hide trusted users" checkbox option on watchlists and related/recent changes (RC) pages
  4. Real-Time Recent Changes App for Android
  5. Shortcut for patrollers to last changes list

Further, there are more than 20 proposals related to Watchlists in general that you may be interested in reviewing. (and over 260 proposals in all, across many aspects of wikis)

Thank you for your consideration. Please note that voting for proposals continues through December 12, 2016.

Note: You received this message because you have transcluded {{User wikipedia/RC Patrol}} (user box) on your user page. Since this message is "one-time-only" there is no opt out for future mailings.
