An article you created maybe deleted soon: Tools which can help you
editThe article you created, Benito T. de Leon maybe deleted from Wikipedia.
There is an ongoing debate about whether your article should be deleted here:
The faster your respond, the better chance the article you created can be saved. There are several tools and other editors who can help you keep the page from being deleted forever:
- List the page up for deletion on Article Rescue Squadron. You can get help listing your page on the Article Rescue Squadron talk page.
- You can request a mentor to help explain to you all of the complex rules that editors use to get a page deleted: Wikipedia:Adopt-a-User. But don't wait for a mentor to respond to you before responding on the article for deletion page.
- When trying to delete a page, veteran editors love to use a lot of rule acronyms. Don't let these acronyms intimidate you.
Here is a list of your own acronyms you can use yourself: WP:Deletion debate acronyms which may support the page you created being kept. Acronyms in deletion debates are sometimes incorrectly used, or ignore rules or exceptions. - You can vote to merge the article into a larger or better established article on the same topic.
Finding sources which mention the topic of your article are the very best way to keep an article.
- Find sources for Benito T. de Leon: google books, google news recent, google news old, google scholar, NYT recent, NYT old, a9, msbooks, msacademic ...You can then cite these results in the Article for deletion discussion.
If your page is deleted, you still have many options available. Good luck! travb (talk) 22:39, 10 January 2009 (UTC)
Re:Issues of Notability and COI
editHello. I checked out the article, and it is questionable, the notability of the subject. I urge you to read WP:BIO to review the standards of notability for biographical articles on Wikipedia, because, no matter what else you do, if the subject fails the notability guidelines, your article will likely be chosen to be deleted by the Wikipedia community. If you still believe the subject is notable, I suggest you voice your opinion at the article's AfD entry, noting your position and your plans to back-up your beliefs. Immediately after voicing your opinion and explaining your position, you should add reliable sources to the article that are verifiable. As long as the article is written from a neutral point-of-view, has a notable subject and contains links to reliable sources that prove this to be true, I am certain the community will opt to keep the article on Wikipedia. In the meantime, I will review the article and subject to see if I can find anything to improve it. Cheers. – Alex43223 T | C | E 08:35, 11 January 2009 (UTC)

- Captain_tucker, Thanks very much for your kind assistance. I have been following the debate and will certainly act on the comments and advices given. I really have to be familiar with the rules and exercise due care more as you clearly pointed out. All the best always.-Sultan-Commander (talk) 03:47, 13 January 2009 (UTC)
Issues of Notability and COI
editHi Kurt, I thought it best to consult you as the first editor who reviewed my work. I have submitted an autobiography as an article in response to several requests for my resume from various sectors. While done in good faith, my lack of familiarity of the rules caused the nomination of the article Benito T. de Leon for deletion on issues of WP:Notability and WP:COI. Noting that the article is about myself, it would just perhaps be best for other editors to debate on it. May I solicit your advise how to proceed from here. Thanks very much for your assistance.-Sultan-Commander (talk) 11:29, 11 January 2009 (UTC)
- I suggest you allow the AfD process to proceed; as I have seen from the debate page, only the nominator posted "Delete", all other editors are either mulling it over or voted "Keep" and "Fix". Chances are, your article may survive the deletion nomination. In the future, it is best to use references from third-party sources; blogs are not good sources for citations as these are primary sources from the subject of the article. That's the reason for the WP:COI issue. — •KvЯt GviЯnЭlБ• Speak! 07:41, 12 January 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks very much for your advise. Please continue to point out other errors or violations of Wiki conventions so I can improve the treatment of the article. Only the best—Sultan-Commander (talk) 12:42, 13 January 2009 (UTC)
- No problem, Colonel. The article did survive AfD. Happy editing and Cheers! — •KvЯt GviЯnЭlБ• Speak! 09:59, 14 January 2009 (UTC)

welcome to Milhist!
editHi, and welcome to the Military history WikiProject! As you may have guessed, we're a group of editors working to improve Wikipedia's coverage of topics related to military history.
A few features that you might find helpful:
- Our navigation box points to most of the useful pages within the project.
- The announcement and open task box is updated very frequently. You can watchlist it if you're interested; or, you can add it directly to your user page by including {{WPMILHIST Announcements}} there.
- Most important discussions take place on the project's main discussion page; it is highly recommended that you watchlist it.
- The project has several departments, which handle article quality assessment, detailed article and content review, writing contests, article logistics, and other tasks.
- We have a number of task forces that focus on specific topics, nations, periods, and conflicts.
- We've developed a style guide that covers article structure and content, template use, categorization, and many other issues of interest.
- If you're looking for something to work on, there are many articles that need attention, as well as a number of review alerts and copy-editing alerts.
- The project has a stress hotline available for your use.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask one of the project coordinators, or any experienced member of the project, and we'll be happy to help you. Again, welcome! We look forward to seeing you around! --ROGER DAVIES talk 08:08, 17 January 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks for the welcome and the information. My interest in the project is in contributing to articles related to the military of the Philippines. I had been surveying the sites and am quite at a loss whom to contact as project coordinator to discuss the range of what I can do to help. Thanks. -- Sultan-Commander (talk) 02:30, 18 January 2009 (UTC)

editThe Random Acts of Kindness Barnstar | ||
The Random Acts of Kindness Barnstar may be awarded to those that show a pattern of going the extra mile to be nice, without being asked. Thank you so much for recognizing my work 2006-2007 on the Philippine articles. After working so hard on so many articles for years and years, and being banned and repeatedly marginalized for my research, I truly feel exonerated with your barnstar. I notice you are a Filipino. As an American, I want to apologize deeply for the inconscionable murder of your ancestors. I trust that someday Americans will see our treatment of third world countries the same way they see slavery and the genocide of the American Indian: as a disgraceful and shameful part of their past. God bless you. travb (talk) 14:50, 17 January 2009 (UTC) |
- Thanks for the Barnstar. Your apology is quite touching. Perhaps, what may be important now is for us to collectively move to save humanity despite the atrocities of the past. It is comforting to note that even your own American military is pursuing humanitarian assistance in many parts of the world. Just a few hours ago, a group stationed here in the troubled Southern Philippines turned over a newly constructed school building as funded by your government. God Bless America and God Bless the Philippines. Only the best. --Sultan-Commander (talk) 12:53, 21 January 2009 (UTC)
- What about helping oust the Spanish? I'm okay taking the blame, but credit where credit is due? ChildofMidnight (talk) 17:15, 12 February 2009 (UTC)
- Yes I am quite aware of that stand although that has been an arguable point in history and debated to this time. There were recorded atrocities by conflicting parties made deliberately or otherwise. I am not in a best position to account or judge what had happened. I would prefer to move on from where we are now and pick from the lessons of the past. Thanks and happy valentines.

Welcome to ARS!
edit
Hi, Sultan-Commander, welcome to the Article Rescue Squadron WikiProject! We are a growing community of Wikipedia editors dedicated to identifying and rescuing articles and content that have been nominated for deletion. Every day hundreds of articles are deleted, many rightfully so. But many concern notable subjects and are poorly written, ergo fixable, and should not be deleted. We try to help these articles and content to quickly improve and address the concerns of why they are proposed for deletion. This covers a lot of ground and your help is appreciated!
If you have any questions, feel free to ask on the talk page, and we will be happy to help you. And once again — Welcome! Addbot (talk) 00:02, 7 January 2013 (UTC) |

File copyright problem with File:PA_Col_rank.jpg
editThank you for uploading File:PA_Col_rank.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.

Proposed blackout in protest of RA 10175
editDear Sultan-Commander,
Greetings!
As a Filipino Wikipedian, I hope you are aware of the passage of Republic Act No. 10175, also known as the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012, which was signed into law by President Benigno Aquino III on September 14, 2012. Currently, there is a discussion on the Tambayan, the noticeboard for Philippines-related topics, about a proposed blackout of the English Wikipedia in the Philippines in order to protest the passage of RA 10175, similar to the blackout against SOPA and PIPA held earlier this year. I feel that your input on the subject will definitely help in the discussion.
Please feel free to participate in the discussion at Wikipedia talk:Tambayan Philippines#The Cybercrime Prevention Act, and I hope your input will help the Filipino Wikipedia community determine which is the best course of action against this law. Similarly, we hope to get as much input from as many Wikipedians as possible.
Thank you and maraming salamat po!
Kind regards,
WikiProject Military history coordinator election

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. March Madness 2017
editG'day all, please be advised that throughout March 2017 the Military history Wikiproject is running its March Madness drive. This is a backlog drive that is focused on several key areas:
- tagging and assessing articles that fall within the project's scope
- updating the project's currently listed A-class articles to ensure their ongoing compliance with the listed criteria
- creating articles that are listed as "requested" on the project's various task force pages or other lists of missing articles.
As with past Milhist drives, there are points awarded for working on articles in the targeted areas, with barnstars being awarded at the end for different levels of achievement.
The drive is open to all Wikipedians, not just members of the Military history project, although only work on articles that fall (broadly) within the military history scope will be considered eligible. More information can be found here for those that are interested, and members can sign up as participants at that page also.
The drive starts at 00:01 UTC on 1 March and runs until 23:59 UTC on 31 March 2017, so please sign up now.
For the Milhist co-ordinators. Regards, AustralianRupert (talk) & MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 07:23, 26 February 2017 (UTC)

Nominations for both awards are open between 00:01 on 2 December 2017 and 23:59 on 15 December 2017. After this, a 14-day voting period will follow commencing at 00:01 on 16 December 2017. Nominations and voting will take place on the main project talkpage: here and here. Thank you for your time. For the co-ordinators, MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 08:35, 8 December 2017 (UTC)
