Automated message to bot owners

edit

As a result of discussion on the village pump and mailing list, bots are now allowed to edit up to 15 times per minute. The following is the new text regarding bot edit rates from Wikipedia:Bot Policy:

Until new bots are accepted they should wait 30-60 seconds between edits, so as to not clog the recent changes list and user watchlists. After being accepted and a bureaucrat has marked them as a bot, they can edit at a much faster pace. Bots doing non-urgent tasks should edit approximately once every ten seconds, while bots who would benefit from faster editing may edit approximately once every every four seconds.

Also, to eliminate the need to spam the bot talk pages, please add Wikipedia:Bot owners' noticeboard to your watchlist. Future messages which affect bot owners will be posted there. Thank you. --Mets501 05:09, 22 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Problem with this bot

edit

This bot just deleted an edit made shortly before it saved the page: presumably it caches the page for several minutes and didn't notice the edit conflict. Diff: [1].

This is very bad. Please stop the bot and fix this bug before continuing. PaddyLeahy 09:04, 20 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

It also seems to be changing the order of the interwikis, placing French, German, and Japanese at the bottom rather than having them in the correct order. violet/riga (t) 09:44, 20 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

I noticed this as well, and I blocked the bot for this reason. The block is indefinite, but should be lifted as soon as this is fixed. -- Jitse Niesen (talk) 09:51, 20 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

The problem has been fixed and what's running currently is the latest version of pywikipediabot from svn. Please lift the block so that the bot can run. -- Sundar \talk \contribs 07:43, 21 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Unblocked. Thanks for your work on this. violet/riga (t) 07:47, 21 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
Thanks Violet. -- Sundar \talk \contribs 07:49, 21 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Bot edits

edit

This bot doesn't mark edits as bot edits. Can this be resolved? -- Mufka (u) (t) (c) 12:56, 3 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

It has got approval now. Further edits will be marked as bot edits. -- Sundar \talk \contribs 08:45, 8 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom elections are now open!

edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
