  The TV Star
For your regular quality edits to television-related articles. I'm particularly liking your work on Phineas and Ferb episode articles, which you appear to be taking on almost single-handedly! I know these type of articles are often underappreciated, but if done right and well-sourced as they are in your case, I think smaller articles like this make up the different between a good online encyclopedia, and a great, comprehensive one! Keep it up! — Hunter Kahn (c) 19:01, 10 November 2009 (UTC)
    • I also would like to say good job. I've actually gone and watched the first five eps of PnF after seeing some of your articles. I watch them with my 5 year old nephew, and I think the show is aimed more at me (I'm 35) than him. It's very smart. - Peregrine Fisher (talk) (contribs) 23:15, 11 November 2009 (UTC)

Hello

Hello, Flash. Congrats on you work for Perry the Platypus and several others! I need to ask you if you could help improve the SpongeBob SquarePants article. I have tried my best to improve it, but it is getting little attention and little work. Your excellent editing skills would be quite helpful for the article. Thank you. Phil Fry (talk) 16:29, 04 December 2009 (UTC)

Thank you for responding! Some suggestions:

  • I have tried my best to expand the lead. If it looks a little cluttered, feel free to fix it.
  • The section "Tenth anniversary" needs to be expanded quite a bit. This is a big moment in SpongeBob history, yet there is nothing but a poorly-written paragraph.
  • The "Staff" section needs to be converted to prose.
  • The "Voice actors" section needs more sources. Do you think you could upload some cast photos?

Thank you. Phil Fry (talk) 09:33, 05 December 2009 (UTC)

Cartman Gets an Anal Probe

The image you are adding to the above article does not have a sufficient fair use rationale.

  • Cartman's obesity can be seen in the video - we don't need another image for that
  • Cartman's farting is only partially a visual element (and certainly "farting fire" can be described using words)
  • It is debatable that we need another fair use image in the article just to demonstrate the alien probe - we would need a stronger reason than this, IMO.

Perry the Platypus Good Article Review

I've reviewed Perry the Platypus which you nominated for GA review. I've made a few spelling changes (I'm not sure encircles->involves is the best word, but it's clearer). I'm going to Mark it as having achieved GA (my first GA review). Thank you for nominating it. RJFJR (talk) 16:40, 20 December 2009 (UTC)

I think that's everything: Template on talk page that it passed, added to good article list, you removed it from the nom page, reivew written (and reviewed). I guess it's done. (The first time I tried to do a GA review I gave up because I couldn't figure out if the images had proper licensing! After that I wasn't sure I was ever going to try again.) Re:Request

Hey Flash. I wish I had better news for you, but I couldn't find any ratings info from that episode, or much of any ratings coverage for that season of Rugrats. I know finding ratings info for cable television shows can be a challenge, especially from episodes so far back, so I wish I could be of more help. I also looked for news articles about that episode in general and didn't find too many, but that doesn't mean a lot; the Lexis database seems to be lacking in articles going back to that time. Best of luck to you, let me know if I can do anything more. I took a look at the article thus far in your sandbox and it's looking good so far! — Hunter Kahn (c) 18:37, 22 December 2009 (UTC)

  • Well, by not many, I meant...not any. lol. I found a number of articles mentioning Reptar, but not "At the Movies" specifically. I'll try to sift through the Reptar ones and see if any pertain to this episode, and if I find any I'll shoot them over to you... — Hunter Kahn (c) 19:44, 22 December 2009 (UTC)
    • Sorry Flash, things have been hectic with the holidays. I'm sorry to report, however, that I've been able to turn up exactly nada on the Spidey ratings. As I said, ratings are always tricky. I'd actually suggest you go to "TV by the Numbers" and look through their old cable ratings reports to see if they have anything. As sad as it is, they usually have more detailed stuff than the mainstream media when it comes to the Nielsen Ratings... — Hunter Kahn (c) 23:02, 28 December 2009 (UTC)

Foster's FLC phail.

Hm, apparently after a month and a bit of doing the hoop jumping as asked by others it isn't enough to get yourself a FL promotion. Don't know what the major flaw is, maybe it's that whole redlink nonsense which chewed up several hours to no avail or the lack of attention near the end. Eitherway, the closure was right but not the decision (unilateral might I add) of a fail. Feh, try once more in a month or so? treelo radda 20:34, 22 December 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for telling me — that's quite a bummer. A month sounds good; in the meantime, we should try and chop down the redlinks, as for some reason that's what got everyone in such a fickle and stopped them from supporting. Thanks for all your help throughout the FLC, BTW! The Flash {talk} 20:39, 22 December 2009 (UTC)
I don't know, there was a lot of gnashing of teeth coming from both sides with neither making a convincing argument. The point is that redlinks shouldn't be the thing upon which a FLC is decided upon given how stupefyingly contentious it is for the editors making assessments. In principle it'd be good to create stubs for those with redlinks using sourcing already present as establishment of notability but then you'd have permastubs with little to no ability to expand so it's a tradeoff between a whole bundle of bluelinks linking to articles containing little more than the list already states or leave the links out and the people remain articleless. Also, you know you can't be in a fickle given it's a adjective not a noun right? treelo radda 20:54, 22 December 2009 (UTC)
Yes, I see what you mean. I suppose, as several editors were requesting it, it'd simply be the best thing to do, despite the fact that most of the info is already on the list. And, yes, I apologize, that was a grammar mistake on my part. The Flash {talk} 20:59, 22 December 2009 (UTC)

Jeffrey Dean Morgan

Which image do you think is better here? Personally, I think the first one creates a better contrast between the actor and the character of John Winchester, although the second one is more close up. Ωphois 01:36, 30 December 2009 (UTC)

True, but since it's so close up, it is similar to the infobox image. If someone wanted to, they could argue that the closeup should be used instead of the infobox, so I think it could be argued to be kept if the first is used because it creates a greater contrast. What do you think? Ωphois 02:06, 30 December 2009 (UTC)

Lawn Gnome Beach Party of Terror

Hey Flash. I'd really like to help you out here, but I'm a bit concerned that simply relisting it for GAN one day after it failed isn't the best way to do it. I think the proper channel we're supposed to go through in situations like this is to relist it at WP:GAR and say you disagree with the way the review was carried out, so you'd like another review. I would make some changes based on the GAN review (which you maybe have already done), list it at WP:GAR, tell them you object to it being closed so quickly without an attempt to work through some of the prose issues, and tell them you have an editor willing to review it immediately if you could relist it for WP:GA. That's me. :) If you do that, I will be willing to review it the second it is up for GAN again. What do you think? — Hunter Kahn 00:20, 13 January 2010 (UTC)

  • I suppose if you make a pretty thorough copy edit (not just the suggestions from the failed GAN, since that was only at the start of the article) and relist it in a few days, that'd be fine. I'll review it, but I might also like to seek input from the guy who failed it too, just to be sure. Don't get me wrong, I'll review it, and if he says its not ready but I say it is, I'll pass it, but I think we should try to be as fair and democratic about it as possible... — Hunter Kahn 02:10, 13 January 2010 (UTC)
    • I'm saying I will do the review. However, I may also ask that editor to take a look at it and see if he's satisfied, just so he can provide some input. I'd still be the one doing the review, so it'd be up to me if I pass it or not, but he might have some useful input. It's just a thought; I could also just do the review myself, doesn't matter to me... — Hunter Kahn 03:56, 13 January 2010 (UTC)

Re:Tom's Rhinoplasty

I think I've addressed your GAN concerns. As for "Lawn Gnome Beach Party of Terror", it's really up to you. I don't think it would hurt to get a professional look at it, but if you'd rather not, I had promised I'd review it and I'll keep my word on that. (By the way, I know I don't have to tell you this, but I just want to say for the record that we're not talking about a quid-quo-pro, "I'll review your article if you'll review mine" thing here, right? That wouldn't be right) — Hunter Kahn 02:43, 15 January 2010 (UTC)

A Proposition

Hello Flash. First off, have you ever seen Code Monkeys? The reason is because I've been planning on making articles out of the episodes and since you're good at making great episode articles, I thought that you might help me. Here's the list of the episodes. GamerPro64 (talk) 00:52, 20 January 2010 (UTC)

I thought not. That's it got cancelled after two seasons. Anyways, I'm happy to know that you can help. I just hope I have enough time to start the first episode. Also, can you review Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay/archive2? GamerPro64 (talk) 01:45, 20 January 2010 (UTC)
Can you look for reviews for any of the 26 episodes? I've seem to not have found any. I mean, what is an episode article without articles? GamerPro64 (talk) 00:04, 22 January 2010 (UTC)
Unfortunatly, the New York Times review is more of a series than an episode review. Also, I think instead to make List of Code Monkeys episodes a Featured List or something like that. GamerPro64 (talk) 02:15, 22 January 2010 (UTC)
Now that sounds like a plan, Flash. Hopefully, I can start tomarrow. GamerPro64 (talk) 02:22, 22 January 2010 (UTC)
Thanks for the review Flash. But, how do I improve the rationale? GamerPro64 (talk) 03:23, 23 January 2010 (UTC)

I've left a review and placed the nomination on hold. I'm not as sure about this one as your last, for the reasons I note on the review page. I do feel it has potential to hit GA, but I think it needs a little work. J Milburn (talk) 00:43, 25 January 2010 (UTC)

Let My Babies Go!: A Passover Story

SuperFlash, I was about to promote the DYK submission Let My Babies Go!: A Passover Story, but first wanted to inquire whether you would have issue with the page being move to Let My Babies Go! A Passover Story as there does not appear to be a need for both the exclamation mark and full colon. Searches for the book appear to just use the colon, while the exclamation mark in the title appears to take care of any need for the additional colon. Thanks in advance. Replaceable fair use File:DanSwampyAward.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:DanSwampyAward.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. FASTILYsock(TALK) 23:40, 2 February 2010 (UTC)
