I am blocked...

I am connected to a network in which about 300 students and teachers use the same IP address. I have never vandalized! I am committed to providing a service to Wikipedia, not in harming pages. Can I please edit from this network connection again?

Women writers

Thanks for taking the trouble to let me know about this deleted category - by chance I only noticed the deletion (as a result of attempting to use the category) and was adding my voice to the protest at the same time you let me know! A depressing decision which I do hope can be successfully appealed... Dsp13 00:48, 12 February 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for the note about not adding articles to a categ and its subcat -- I was going to drop you a line, but great to see that you got there ahead of me :) Keep up the good work!

BTW, are you aware that Category:Women writers was referred back to CFD (see Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Log/2007 March 23#Category:Women_writers). It may yet be deleted. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs)

Also, sorry for not replying sooner to your kind note on my talk page about the deletion review. I do try to be open to changing my mind at CFD, but I have to confess that I don't always get there ... and I find CFD a rather frustrating process. Some regular contributors to CFD always vote to delete any category by gender, regardless of the arguments in favour and in spite of the guideline WP:CATGRS. I'm afraid that it's a bit of a vicious circle, and part of a wider problem: there is a strong anti-intellectual current at CFD, and although there are some very good and thoughtful regulars, CFD works best with fairly simple issues. When it encounters a more complex issue such as the relevance of gender, CFD can often break down quite badly, with too many contributors wrongly confusing gender blindness with gender neutrality, and a hard core who regard any categorisation relating to womens role in the world as part of some left-wing conspiracy. :(
