A belated welcome to you James, it is good to have more South Africans here on wikipedia even though they based in Basel, Switzerland. You can find a small group of us at Wikipedia:Wikipedians/South Africa. --Jcw69 08:23, 8 December 2005 (UTC)Reply

Suggestion

edit

I would suggest you read NPOV and gain an understanding of the term. Just because the apartheid commited crimes against humanity doesn't mean we need to misrepresent the situation to make things look worse. The truth speaks loud enough for itself. This is supposed to be an encyclopedia, not a political action group. While I appreciate your sentiment, it does not hold to the core values of NPOV. OrangeMan 00:49, 3 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

You have indicated elsewhere that I am 'young' and 'foolish', and now you have taken it on yourself to start lecturing me again. I need no lessons from you about NPOV. A encyclopedia should represent a balance of views, granted, but none that are offensive. For me, attaching the adjective 'democratic' to apartheid-era South Africa is offensive and patently wrong. Time will tell if this - what I regard to be a falsehood - is accepted by the internet community. If it is, then you have won. However, like Ezeu, I no longer wish to squabble about this issue with you as there is no point. I wish no further communication with you on this matter, as I indicated some days ago at the Nelson Mandela chat. Please refrain from posting any more comments in this regard here, and be aware that I am seeking mediation on this matter. Swissjames 16:55, 3 February 2006 (UTC)Reply
While I don't think mediation is required, I am willing to participate. OrangeMan 17:41, 3 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hi James, I am a little close to the problem to be of help in any arbitration. To answer your questions I always think that we should tolerate other POVs than our own and work some sort of compromise. See Wikipedia:Neutral point of view. If both parties are at logger heads then you need to take the matter to Wikipedia:Requests for mediation and a neutral third party will assist. I will throw my 2c in the pot on the talk page. --Jcw69 11:45, 5 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

From Ezeu

James, sometimes someone else's POV is more popular, nothing to do about that. I hope you don't lose your vigilance in pursuit for fairness. I will surely keep watching Nelson Mandela's article, and I will continue to argue for the fairness. --Ezeu 14:45, 6 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

dealing with twazzicks

I saw the exchange between you and 'JMA' on the Bishops site. I commend your civility! (Any idea who s/he is?) --Adam Brink 14:19, 7 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thanks --Adam Brink, although I must confess I have almost given up as far as that website is concerned. I will just be rubbished by zealous fans of the school if I try to make it less POV. By the way, I believe we had the pleasure of meeting a while back at a braai - do I have the right person? Swissjames 14:30, 29 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
