Hi. I previously responded on your talk page (probably in the wrong space for which I apologize). I have absolutely no conflict of interest for this page or any other and have never written a Wikipedia page for money. I am not an employee or contractor nor a public relations person for this organization. I am a writer with an interest in writers organizations. So I will be moving the article back to main space in the next day or so to give you time to respond if there are other issues. Thank you. Synchromatica (talk) 11:46, 29 July 2022 (UTC)
- The article draft as written is egregiously promotional and reads like a brochure; much of the information cited only to primary sources has no business being in the article. I would strongly suggest you work on these issues before resubmitting the draft. Please also be mindful of and make sure that the subject satisfies WP:ORGCRITE, our rather stringent notability guidelines for organizations. signed, Rosguill talk 14:56, 29 July 2022 (UTC)
I spent many many hours studying Wikipedia’s articles for deletion logs to learn about just what does and does not satisfy wikipedia standards. I truly believe this article is objective and that it is not promotional — statements are verified, and I believe it gives information about what the organization does. I did, however, remove the section on member benefits.
Of course, the articles for deletion process is community-based and brings in the judgment of other people, so if you believe that the article does not meet the standards for Wikipedia, of course it should go through that process. Specifically, I do think that the organization meets the notability guidelines because there are multiple articles in independent reliable sources about it. If you would like to tell me what information you think is inappropriate, I would be happy to edit it or remove it, but I am not understanding what that inappropriate information might be. Thank you for your attention to this. I will also say that I think that this article adds to the encyclopedia. However, since I have no conflict of interest or any sort of payment I also have limited time to spend on it and no real motivation to promote this organization other than I think there should be an article about it. So I’m happy to stand back and let things happen as they will. Synchromatica (talk) 03:06, 31 July 2022 (UTC)
Edited to add: I removed quite a bit of information about member benefits as well as about the convention and what it provides. I actually think that these changes detract from the article because I think that the information about how the organization works and what it does (a d offers) is important and would be of interest to writers and other considering it. However I understand that describing what many see as benefits could be seen as promotional so I removed that information. I also removed specific quotes from sponsor destinations. Again, I see this as detracting from the article because what my original draft provided explained why destinations would spend so money on sponsorships.I think that was not an improvement, but I am willing to take direction.
