Conflict of interest

edit

  Hello, TLBG. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:Spam);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you.

@Athaenara: Thank you for letting me know all of this, this is the first time I have ever done a wiki page and was not aware of all of these guidelines, which is on me.
Would it be possible to restore the page so I can improve on it? TLBG (talk) 10:54, 31 October 2019 (UTC)Reply

Blocked

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for advertising or promotion. From your contributions, this seems to be your only purpose.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.

Request reason:

Unfortunately, I did not understand the guidelines that Wikipedia has and have created an article that can be construed as promotion. On that end, I have read the guidelines concerning Conflict of Interest and the Manual of Style to understand where I went wrong. 1. I did not disclose my conflict of interest when writing this article. 2. I did link back to my organisation website when I should not have. 3. The language used was not tone neutral and thus inappropriate for Wikipedia as it would seem more like promotion rather than facts.

This is how I intend to make this right: 1. Disclose any conflict of interest in the future. 2. Not make any articles for myself/relatives/friends/organisation I work for, and instead request for an article to created to avoid bias. 3. To maintain tone neutrality when creating future articles/editing existing articles.

I am not on Wikipedia to promote, but instead to share knowledge on topics that have not been talked about, I am also here to learn more about the editing process. I understand that I should have done my research and it was a lapse on my judgement to have missed out on this crucial step. I do hope you can unblock me so that I can learn more about this process and contribute more of my knowledge to this website. TLBG (talk) 06:58, 6 November 2019 (UTC)

Decline reason:

Superseded by a new request. 331dot (talk) 07:52, 7 November 2019 (UTC)Reply

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

What topics do you intend to edit about if unblocked? Please understand that Wikipedia is not for merely sharing information; this is an encyclopedia. As an encyclopedia, Wikipedia summarizes what independent reliable sources state about subjects that meet Wikipedia's special definition of notability. 331dot (talk) 09:47, 6 November 2019 (UTC)Reply

I have an interest in the food & beverage and hospitality industry, which always has new information that is being released, and requires updates on related topics under the industry. Beyond that, I would also like to talk about the video game industry, which is also always ever-changing. One such edit would be under Rooster Teeth, under the subsection Immersion. There was new information regarding the show series, which includes Immersion collaborating with the Discovery Channel for a Rooster Teeth Shark Week Special on August 3rd 2019, and the last known information regarding Immersion was related to a third season that premiered in 2015. What exactly is your conflict of interest? 331dot (talk) 10:32, 6 November 2019 (UTC)Reply
Under employment of the organisation, I was asked to write about the article that was deleted. I have since learned that writing about that topic would be a conflict of interest, and instead, have learned that I should request an article be written about that topic instead of writing it myself to avoid conflict of interest and bias.TLBG (talk) 10:56, 6 November 2019 (UTC)Reply
@TLBG: "Under employment of" what organisation? – Athaenara —Preceding undated comment added 21:06, 6 November 2019 (UTC)Reply
@Athaenara: The Lo & Behold Group, which created Odette, in collaboration with the article's subject. I have explained to my organisation that this is not allowed by Wikipedia and have thus told them I will be converting this account to a personal account and request for the article to be created instead of creating one myself.TLBG (talk) 02:36, 7 November 2019 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

I will convert this to a personal account and instead will be requesting for an article to be created instead, and in the meantime, work on understanding Wikipedia more and doing edits on topics that interest me.

Accept reason:

I have unblocked. Please use Special:GlobalRenameRequest to request a rename. Read WP:DISCLOSE for details of how to disclose your conflict of interest. — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 21:43, 29 November 2019 (UTC)Reply
