Thanks for getting the protected version up so fast, I'm not an admin so i couldn't do that part :P  fetchcomms 00:33, 8 March 2010 (UTC)

No problem. And thanks for stepping up to select a picture and write a blurb. Although I see empty POTDs quite frequently nowadays, I'm always hesitant to write a blurb myself. I'll stick to ITN. -- tariqabjotu 00:48, 8 March 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, I will do. Sorry- got several users making suggestions and I'm the only admin present. J Milburn (talk) 00:57, 8 March 2010 (UTC)

Excessive Edit warring in Kochi article

The user:Gantlet is again edit warring with the article Kochi. He is reverting the article to an older version. I have seen from the talk page that you have blocked him earlier. Please block him again. He is even having some sock usernames as well. Gantlet is having multiple accounts such as User:Trock95 and Bubluonline. He is editing with anonymous IPs.

Also, please dont include me also in the same category. I was just trying to prevent him from his wierd revisions. Please see the history here: [1] Thank you, --Dewatchdog (talk) 16:19, 13 March 2010 (UTC)

Hi, I just saw that you've fully-protected the article. Two sets of socks have been blocked, so could you consider changing to semi-protection instead? I saw the thread at ANI and got the CU done to get background on the warring. Given that both master accounts have been blocked for two weeks, I don't think the full protection is necessary now. cheers. —SpacemanSpiff 07:10, 15 March 2010 (UTC)

Hello, do you think the "80 deaths in Uganda" ITN nomination under 23 April is ready for the Main Page? --candlewicke 19:20, 25 April 2010 (UTC)

Hello again, if you have time (and if they are not on the Main Page when you read this) I have updated the Austrian presidential election, 2010 and Iran – United Kingdom relations nominations.
Thanks. :-) --candlewicke 04:22, 26 April 2010 (UTC)

ITN/C

Hey, there are two items that seem to have consensus under WP:ITN/C#April 29 if you have a moment. Thanks for the support in my RfA, btw, it's very much appreciated. All the best, HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 00:13, 30 April 2010 (UTC)

In regards to the oil spill, I was in the middle of adding it (added the size to the article first though, and then got a bit distracted). The World Expo one obviously should be put up, but the opening ceremony has not happened yet. -- tariqabjotu 00:22, 30 April 2010 (UTC)

are you going to add the picture that Arsonal posted to the front page? I think its a good one. What do you think?

Don't waste your time arguing with this dreadful fellow. He/she/it is a sock of the banned User:Shuppiluliuma. See the SPI here for evidence [2]. Athenean (talk) 19:32, 30 April 2010 (UTC)

Main Page Images

Your recent actions led to File:VolRenderShearWarp.png being on the main page for 30 min unprotected. βcommand 00:34, 2 May 2010 (UTC)

I would respond, but I would hate to sound as curt and accusatory as you did. I'm sure you can imagine what I would say, so I'll leave you with that. -- tariqabjotu 00:41, 2 May 2010 (UTC)
Pictures of the day aren't protected when they're put on {{POTD}} (/date)? Odd. -- tariqabjotu 00:49, 2 May 2010 (UTC)

Reconsider

Please see Wikipedia:Administrators'_noticeboard/Edit_warring#User:Savant1984_and_User:Zargulon_.28Result:_Protected.29, where I asked you to reconsider. Debresser (talk) 17:03, 3 May 2010 (UTC)

A post by Savant1984, who is willing to come to an understanding, and another post by Zargulon which is provocative and factually brands him as a disruptive editor, are the basis for a renewed request to reconsider this case on Wikipedia:Administrators'_noticeboard/Edit_warring#User:Savant1984_and_User:Zargulon_.28Result:_Protected.29. Debresser (talk) 21:43, 5 May 2010 (UTC)

The page is now unprotected. -- tariqabjotu 21:56, 5 May 2010 (UTC)

Network 21

Hi, while I concur with your decision to lock the article, you have left it in a state where it leaves in serious allegations in a court case against the company, but has left out the fact the case was dismissed. The other two editors involved have continually deleted that fact, despite it being sourced (to the actual court dismissal document). It was that action I kept revertíng. IMO the article should not be locked in a state where it is inaccurately libelling an active organization.--Insider201283 (talk) 11:06, 4 May 2010 (UTC)

The above statement is materially false. Hipocrite (talk) 11:47, 4 May 2010 (UTC)
Which part? You and FG222 have been deleting the fact the case was dismissed. The fact the case was dismissed was sourced, you've even been given a copy of the document yourself. --Insider201283 (talk) 13:12, 4 May 2010 (UTC)
The source you provided is a wiki owned by you. That's not a reliable source. Hipocrite (talk) 13:20, 4 May 2010 (UTC)

Thank you for informing me about the correct interpretation of WP:3RR, I accept that I my explanation of it was not correct. Zargulon (talk) 23:05, 5 May 2010 (UTC)

Since you're online...

I need to turn in, it's getting on for 03:30 here, but I'd really appreciate it if you could keep an eye on United Kingdom general election, 2010- I've desperately tried to avoid semi-protection, so if you could keep an eye on things for a few hours, you;d be doing me and the encyclopaedia a great service. There's an editntice up warning of instant block for vandals so you could just block them until the results are all in. Best, HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 02:27, 7 May 2010 (UTC)

Sorry; I had signed off not long after those last edits. It was 3:30am where I was too! -- tariqabjotu 09:13, 7 May 2010 (UTC)

AN3/Jetblack500

I find this difficult to understand. This editor persistently edited against consensus and reverted at least five times in a matter of hours. Other editors were trying to reach a consensus-based version of the article and this was being disrupted by Jetblack500. Can you explain how you came to your decision here, please? If you have an explanation for why it took so long for this report to be dealt with, that would also be of interest - a noticeboard that doesn't work isn't likely to get a lot of use. Thanks. --Michig (talk) 13:59, 8 May 2010 (UTC)

That was a mistake; I meant to put the "no violation" for the previous section. As for Jetblack500, I blocked him for twenty-four hours based on the evidence you provided and the history of the article.
As for why it takes so long... well, that's what happens when being a Wikipedia admin is voluntary. Although there are supposedly hundreds of active admins, for some reason there aren't too many who have staked out this noticeboard as an area they check frequently. This used to be an area I checked often, but I have been very busy as of late and I have been trying to find time to work on a particular article (that is, Istanbul) because, to me at least, I feel it's more important to work on improving an article than to halt content disputes and edit-warriors. Obviously, from the perspective of someone who has to deal with an edit warrior, that's aggravating and perhaps not understandable, but that's the way I feel; most readers won't notice an edit war is even happening, but most will notice a bad article.
In the future, if you feel AN3 (or any other noticeboard) is backlogged, you may want to post a notice on WP:AN saying so as well as add the {{admin backlog}} to the top of the relevant noticeboard. It should then get handled fairly quickly. -- tariqabjotu 14:16, 8 May 2010 (UTC)

"Forces" vs. "Soldiers"

Hey, just so you know, I reverted your change of "forces" to "soldiers" on ITN. I agree that, with the new wording, "forces" is not ideal- but there were RAF personnel involved, for example, and they're most certainly not soldiers. Best, HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 21:52, 9 May 2010 (UTC)

So? There were also British soldiers involved, so it doesn't make the statement incorrect. In fact, that's pretty much exactly what the article says: The 2010 Parade marks the first time that foreign soldiers have joined Russian forces on Red Square for the parade. -- tariqabjotu 21:55, 9 May 2010 (UTC)

Request for input

HJ Mitchell has closed the AE request I filed concerning the BLP problems on Richard Goldstone and essentially remanded the issue back to the editors. This isn't the outcome I'd expected; it's being discussed at User talk:HJ Mitchell#Why the closure?. Since you commented on this matter on AN3, you might wish to provide some input - it would certainly be very welcome. -- ChrisO (talk) 01:29, 18 May 2010 (UTC)

Actually, don't worry - HJ is on the case. But you might wish to have a look at Talk:Richard Goldstone#Summary of BLP issues. I'd be interested to know what you think, in the light of your comments at AN3. -- ChrisO (talk) 02:42, 18 May 2010 (UTC)
