Thanks for your earlier message. I had a look at changing the instructions about changing the clock but couldn't figure out how to get the August clock working. Sorry to do this to you.Capitalistroadster 00:32, 1 August 2006 (UTC)

Alright; no problem. I hope the three periods in the code didn't confuse you. I meant to indicate that I omitted the rest of the weeks from the code as they were repetitive and insignificant for the instructions. -- tariqabjotu (joturner) 01:09, 1 August 2006 (UTC)

Hello

I don't suppose you use IRC on freenode? Chacor 13:13, 1 August 2006 (UTC)

I use it once in awhile, but I'm not really proficient in it. Did you want to talk to me on IRC? -- tariqabjotu (joturner) 13:15, 1 August 2006 (UTC)
Preferably, please, yes. Chacor 13:20, 1 August 2006 (UTC)
I normally connect to IRC through Opera, but I'm at work, so I'm going to have to download Opera first (unless there is a better alternative). -- tariqabjotu (joturner) 13:23, 1 August 2006 (UTC)
That is not a problem, I can wait, but preferably would like to talk today about some users, including yourself (you'll find out why later). Chacor 13:26, 1 August 2006 (UTC)
No problem; it won't be long, hopefully. And I'm not too busy right now. -- tariqabjotu (joturner) 13:30, 1 August 2006 (UTC)

Oh, one thing - I'd prefer to make first contact, rather than you contacting me (you'll find out why, as I said above), so when you're on could you send me a talk message with your IRC name? Thanks! Chacor 13:50, 1 August 2006 (UTC)

I'm having trouble connecting to IRC. Opera won't connect to the Internet and I'm not familiar with mIRC (although it looks like I am doing it correctly). -- tariqabjotu (joturner) 13:59, 1 August 2006 (UTC)
Firewall, then? I guess I could take the long way and email you... Chacor 14:00, 1 August 2006 (UTC)
No problem, although you could try to contact me on AIM (or Yahoo! messenger if you must). -- tariqabjotu (joturner) 14:03, 1 August 2006 (UTC)

Email has been sent, we'll continue there if possible :) Chacor 14:10, 1 August 2006 (UTC)

Castro

Thanks for your work on the Castro transfer page. Could you please watch the Cuba page, users are insisting in the info box that Raul is now President of the Council of state (President of Cuba). This is not the case, Raul is assuming duties as per Cuban constitution. Thanks. --Zleitzen 15:14, 1 August 2006 (UTC)

I'll keep an eye on it, but it looks like the Raúl Castro (temporarily) solution is working fine. Also, please note the three-revert rule as you appear close to breaking it on the Cuba article. -- tariqabjotu (joturner) 15:33, 1 August 2006 (UTC)
Thanks. Exactly, that's why I'm calling for other users to assist.--Zleitzen 15:36, 1 August 2006 (UTC)

HDI thing

Hey, thanks for the response on the "Castro transfer of duties" talk page. I figure if I responded there, that would be pretty hypocritical, since I was complaining about polluting talk pages ;) Anyway, even though I hate to look like an empty-headed flag-waver (I'm really not!), I do kindof find the phrase "America looks like a total comedy" to be "blatantly insulting," though I guess it's not quite vandalism... I guess I'll just leave it be. Anyway, wanted to say thanks!! --Jaysweet 17:46, 1 August 2006 (UTC)

Talk:Teemu Selänne

Just so you know, all those subheadings under the body of the debate are also a part of it. Not sure if it factors into the decision to rule "no consensus", but they should definitely be placed under the archival envelope. Doogie2K (talk) 23:26, 1 August 2006 (UTC)

I didn't put it under the archival envelope because it says that nothing within the envelope should be edited. Since the part under the "discussion" header is just that - discussion - and not the survey, I decided to leave it outside the envelope and let people respond to comments right there. -- tariqabjotu (joturner) 23:28, 1 August 2006 (UTC)

Bat Ye'or/Pecher

Joturner, It is better to avoid using Bat Ye'or if you can find better sources. She is criticized by some academics for lacking academic credentials, being polematic. There is a lot of controversarry around her works.

Re: this edit of yours [1], there is an ArbCom case in which Pecher is involved. we are discussing [2] & [3].

H.E. added your diff as an evidence, but I think you have revised your view (as Pecher's comment on 21:46, 30 July 2006 states). So, I have removed that diff for now. If you still think there was a misrepresentation, please comment there. Thanks --Aminz 02:43, 2 August 2006 (UTC)

Joturner, I must acknowledge that your refusal to contribute to the gratuitous prosecutorial atmosphere against an editor you've very substantially disagreed with in the past speaks well, in my eyes, of your character, morally, academically and WP-wise.
And allow me also to congratulate you upon what would seem to be (?) your admission to Stanford. Perhaps I'll run into you one of these days.Timothy Usher 09:36, 2 August 2006 (UTC)
Thanks for acknowledgement. Regarding Stanford, I'm going into my senior year in high school; the universities I mentioned on my user page are my top choices, the ones I would like to attend. I still am in the process of applying to them. -- tariqabjotu (joturner) 12:34, 2 August 2006 (UTC)
I concur with Timothy. I would be happy to see you if you decided to come to Berkeley. --Aminz 08:29, 3 August 2006 (UTC)

Requested move at Template talk:Infobox President

Why did you close the debate less then a week after it was started? I could understand if the was an overwhelming consensus one way or the other, but there clearly wasn't. An AfD would get a fortnight long debate or longer and there are request move discussions continuing that were started much more than a week ago. So why was this debate cut short? Hera1187 06:05, 2 August 2006 (UTC)

Both requested move and article for deletion debates are supposed to last five days. From WP:RM: Page moves take place after five (5) days under discussion on the talk page of the article to be moved, or earlier at the discretion of an administrator. Sometimes they last longer simply because no one gets around to them. -- tariqabjotu (joturner) 12:27, 2 August 2006 (UTC)

Many thanks!

Hi! Thanks for wishing me a happy first edit day! =) That was a spirit lifter for sure!

Hi,

Thanks for your comments in my RFA.

I've made a reply, as I was unclear as to how being unaware of one of a 100 or so policies was a barrier to becoming an admin. It was a mistake on my part, clearly, but I did not oppose its removal or re-add it!

Regards,

Joturner, Do you have any feedback here[4]? we are trying to write a mannual of style. ? --Aminz 04:05, 6 August 2006 (UTC)

Muhammed Article

Tariq, why did you remove the PBUH from the Mohamed article? it's more or less part of his name to muslims, I would like to add it somewhere, do you have any suggestions? KingTut1982 22:32, 7 August 2006 (UTC)

Wikipedia is an encyclopedia for all people and so we have a policy of Neutral point-of-view. As part of that policy, we cannot use honorifics, such as peace be upon him to refer to Muhammad or any religious figure of any religion. The Muhammad article already mentions the common use of the phrase peace be upon him and so it doesn't really need to go anywhere else. -- tariqabjotu (joturner) 23:03, 7 August 2006 (UTC)

how-to on a template you created

Hi, it seems you created the template:merge-multiple ? I want to use it for a whole series of articles but I don't know how to use the optional Discuss parameter. Strangely enough, when I try to simply specify a talk page as the last parameter it doesn't work ;) but I don't know how to specify the "discuss" parameter name. I looked around to see what articles linked to the template but I couldn't find one with a long list of articles which specified a single talk page. TIA,--Garrie 00:03, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

Use {{merge-multiple|Article 1|Article 2|Article 3|...|Article X|discuss=Talk:Article 1}}, for example. -- tariqabjotu (joturner) 00:05, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

Thanks that was far faster than I had hoped! Garrie again. —Preceding unsigned comment added by GarrieIrons (talkcontribs)

No problem. -- tariqabjotu (joturner) 00:11, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

Help at "Jesus in Islam" article

Hi Joturner,

Just wondering if you might be interested to work a bit of Jesus related articles. I have started working on Islam and anti-Semitism. The quality of that article was horrible when I touched it (and still it is). As to the Islamic view of Jesus' death, I have found these material on how western scholars explain Muslim view on death of Jesus[5] but didn't get to add them to the article. I'm sure one can find much more sources (by searching in books.google.com). Just thought you may like working on that article. If not, it is perfectly okay. I'll take care of that article later. Islam and anti-Semitism also needs much work BTW. --Aminz 09:27, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

Hi

Hi Abjotu,

I completely understand your position in my RfA. I thank you for showing the confidence in me initially, and also for having the courage to change your !vote. Why? because it takes a lot of courage to switch from support of a candidate one knows personally. I hold you in high regard and assure you that you will keep on seeing positives from my side, and at the same time, I will try my best to keep the "negatives" to the minimum. DYK

Updated DYK query On 10 August, 2006, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Capital Area Food Bank, which you created. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the "Did you know?" talk page.

Hi!

Hi again, Tariqabjotu!

Would you mind re-proposing Opus Dei for GA? It was struck out from the list after some people thought it was biased. Mediation committee recently ruled it is actually NPOV. Thought you might want to know. :-) Lafem 11:05, 10 August 2006 (UTC)

removing talk page comments

Do not remove points of view on talk pages. Talk pages are there to talk about points of views, not removing them or shuting them up. --Striver 16:03, 10 August 2006 (UTC)
