Ironically, I honestly dislike the process of content creation, which probably explains my lack of GAs and authored articles. It just feels like a slog for me to parse through sources and organize them into an article... which I think makes it even more special for me that I took the time to work on this particular article since February 2024. It took a lot of time and a lot of opinions from people more experienced than me. I don't think I could have done it without the amazing foundation the author @Czar made and left back in 2017. There were a lot of breaks in-between, but I'm still proud of myself. Thank you! I can relate. Unless I'm really dedicated to a topic, I'm terrible at looking through sources. My attention enters a void from which I cannot pull it. 3 of my 6 total GANs have been improvements on foundations. Hopefully the article Fortnite Battle Royale can follow the same pipeline Rain World has with you. Guest book

Hi, Tarlby ... in the Teahouse (I think it was there), you recently posted something about a guest book, but now I can't find it. At the time I noticed it, I was focused elsewhere and so I planned to come back to it.

I remember one thing about it, though, that I must share with you. Somewhere in that post of yours I was startled — but in a delightful way — to see my name mentioned in connection with some sort of inspiration you mentioned. It couldn't have come at a more perfect time because a few days earlier in the Teahouse I'd had a rare skirmish with another editor after I'd responded to a message he or she had posted with what turned out to be slightly misplaced humor, as you may have seen. I apologized and I think everything's fine now, but it was a bit painful for both the other editor, apparently, and me. Well, if your ping wasn't intended but it brought about a delightfully recuperative result, I'd like to nominate it for a perfect example, although in a secular setting, of the Christian saying, "O happy fault!";)

So I see by your signature these days that you're back to Toby. Should we expect regular changes of user names, then? I guess it's one good way of keeping us mentally in shape.

When I went to sign your guestbook, I noticed the directions were for those who use the Source editor. I'm in the minority of editors who prefer the Visual editor. I can deal with having to use the Source editor from time to time, though with gritted teeth, but just thought to squawk a little. Since joining Wikipedia and immediately gravitating to the VE, but finding myself in a definite minority among editors, I've increasingly gained sympathy for left-handers. I'm sure that with your own appreciation for humor, you can see what I was trying to say. But by the time you read this, I'll probably have succeeded in signing. I like that proverb!

I have various usernames across multiple social media sites, including Tarlby, Croissant, Toby, and Toe Beans (did you get the joke for the last one?). Out of the four, I think Toby is simply the best one. It's personal, friendly, and not too confusing like Tarlby. For the foreseeable future, I intend to keep it, because I like it :)

I guess it is, but like most big numbers it builds up a little bit at a time. I try to do a couple every week. Now on 655 . Sorry @Schazjmd; WP:PCR does not require that reviewers verify the sourcing for edits, and that reviewers do not take responsibility for the correctness of edits they accept except for the most blatant cases of vandalism and the like. @Namiba I find it interesting how now there are two threads on my talk page on the exact same close, but that both are arguïng for two different things: one calling for me to close as keep and now this one that goes for a relist.

When I had relisted, I (honestly) did not spend much time reading the discussion. I did count the votes and I did relist. But, as I had linked, an editor (whom was involved in the discussion) convinced me to read the discussion more thorougly, and I decided to close as keep, because I agreed with the Keep's side; I actually did not know that many people were involved on US paper money. In my perspective as a reader, this category was actually useful, and I had the opportunity to read these articles.

And so now I have two threads on my talk page arguïng for two different things, both of which are from editors involved in the discussion, and both having a much longer tenure than me. I hope you understand that I'm not sure what to do in this position. Relisting for the second time in 13 hours feels like a spineless thing to do. toby ^(t)(rw) 14:46, 16 July 2026 (UTC)

Wikipedia is about reaching a consensus. See Wikipedia:Deletion_process#Determining_consensus for help determining this. While you may feel like one side should "win" the discussion based on your experience as a reader, that is not the job of a discussion closer. I suggest relisting and letting someone else make the call. I don't think anyone can read that discussion and argue that anything like a consensus has been reached.--User:Namiba 14:54, 16 July 2026 (UTC)

Easily a consensus for "no consensus with no relisting needed" at a minimum, but Keep is very reasonable given the counter-arguments to points made by deleting proponents. The category, by the way, has grown to 102 entries. Keeping the discussion closed and the category active seems appropriate per the back-and-forth discussion, and CfD is such an out-of-the-way category that three opposes is almost a landslide. It looks like when you closed this CFD discussion, you neglected to remove the CFD tag from Category:1993 in Harbin. Once you do this, the category can be tagged CSD C1 as an empty category which I think was the intention. I can only guess because this category wasn't mentioned in the nomination. Hello @Codakalvig. Content on Wikipediä rely on reliäble, secondary sources; the relevant guidelines are at Wikipedia:Verifiability and Wikipedia:Reliable sources. Your personal knowledge of things usually hold no significance. My favorite topic areä to edit (games!) usually have easily accessible sources that anyone can Google. For other more complex topics, you can also rely on books, magazines, news sources, etc. Sourcing depends heavily on context, and should be independent of what you personally know. toby ^(t)(rw) 04:46, 30 July 2026 (UTC)

Good article nominations RfC

Hi Tarlby,

There is an ongoing Request for Comment (RfC) at Wikipedia:Good article nominations/August 2026 RfC, which you may be interested in because in the past year, you have nominated or reviewed more than one good article nomination. This message has also been sent to all subscribers to the Good Article Gazette. The RfC contains many proposals (33 at the time of writing), which are split into the following categories: nominators, reviewers, reviews, volunteer roles, reviewing initiatives, and others. However, you are more than welcome to add any proposals of your own that you wish to put to the community.

By the end of September, all the proposals will have been closed by an uninvolved editor, either as a consensus for one of the options or with no consensus. At this point, editors will be invited again to develop these proposals into coherent policy and implement them.

I clicked "publish" on a new page/article on the artist Barbara Rogers for review but it now shows up under my user name in the sandbox. How do I get it reviewed and where do I disclose I have a professional connection to the subject? Is the sandbox the review space, and if so, what are next steps? I got a notice that a filter determined it might not be "constructive," but the sources and information are straightforward so I'm not sure what to do next. --AZartwriter (talk) 00:44, 18 August 2026 (UTC)

Hello @AZartwriter. I have moved the page to Draft:Barbara Rogers which is the preferred location for drafts. I have also added the template Template:AfC submission/draft so that you can submit it to WP:AfC when it is ready. You can add a conflict of interest notice on your user page.

Regarding the draft however, it is sorely lacking in much organization. It is impossible for a reviewer to accept it at its current state. For example, no sources were cited inline. No section headers were added either. Currently, it reads much like a resume and not like an encyclopedic article. You can see any random article on this website and see the difference. My greatest reccomendation for you is to learn wikitext and the basic requirements to have an article published. I've cleared out the text, which you may retrieve at any time in the article history. I recommend you also read the page WP:BACKWARDS. toby ^(t)(rw) 01:16, 19 August 2026 (UTC)

thank you for clearing that text--I was looking for it to delete. I see now that I submitted too soon and will make the necessary changes. I am not sure where I put that COI declaration on my user page? I realize now that the text, which had footnotes, needed to be manually input, so I will do that manually. I used the Edward Ruscha page for how I formatted, keeping it in chronological order but now see that it needs to be more like an article. Do I submit their sources and exhibitions as separate entries or include it as I did in my text? I had headers, but is there a way to make that clear they are headers? Perhaps those questions will be answered in reading over the links you sent. Thanks for your assistance. I will read over all your link suggestions and start over. Hello @Bearthegeneralyogurt. You can disclose your conflict of interest on your user page here. If you are beïng paid, then you must explicitly say so.

Please also read Wikipedia:Conflict of interest which has much more advice. You should generally never edit articles you are related to. New pages patrol September 2026 Backlog drive

September 2026 Backlog Drive | New pages patrol
On 1 September 2026, a one-month backlog drive for new pages patrol will begin at a particularly important time for NPP. The backlog has now passed 30,000 unreviewed articles, a level that has been described in current NPP discussions as exceptionally high and potentially difficult to overcome through normal reviewing alone. Backlog drives are one of the few measures that have historically produced a noticeable reduction in the backlog, so the participation of as many active patrollers as possible will matter this month. If you can review during September, please make articles your priority. Every article that is reviewed is a meaningful reduction in the backlog. With the queue at its current size, even a relatively small increase in the number of articles each patroller reviews can add up to a substantial difference over the course of the month. This is a hybrid drive, so redirect reviewing is still included. Redirects can be a useful way for newer patrollers to get comfortable with NPP and can help people build up to reviewing articles. However, the main goal of this drive is to tackle the article backlog, and experienced patrollers are particularly encouraged to spend as much of their available reviewing time on articles as they can. Barnstars will be awarded based on the number of articles and redirects patrolled. Each article review will earn 1 point, while each redirect review will earn 0.2 points. Streak awards will be given out based on consistently hitting point thresholds for each week of the drive. Barnstars will also be granted for re-reviewing articles previously reviewed by other patrollers during the drive. If you have been thinking about doing more NPP, this is an especially good month to jump in. Whether you can review a few pages or hundreds, every review helps.
