Wikipedia Help Survey
editHi there, my name's Peter Coombe and I'm a Wikimedia Community Fellow working on a project to improve Wikipedia's help system. At the moment I'm trying to learn more about how people use and find the current help pages. If you could help by filling out this brief survey about your experiences, I'd be very grateful. It should take less than 10 minutes, and your responses will not be tied to your username in any way.
Thank you for your time,

Help with image thumb placement
editThis help request has been answered. If you need more help, you can , contact the responding user(s) directly on their user talk page, or consider visiting the Teahouse. |
Please help me with... In articles it is normal for images to be placed within a section. For example:
===Snow=== Snow Snow can cause... break ===Frost=== Frost
This typically means that the image will appear two lines below the start of the section. This can mean for short sections, where a break is used so following section's image appears in the correct place, the white space is larger than it needs to be. This can be seen in the article I have been editing today, aerial lift.
Also, in other scenarios, where thumbs are placed on the left, it can lead to the unsightly situation of a subheading appearing above the image, and then the text to the right.
===Melting=== When snow melts...
One solution to this is, of course, to place to place the image at the end of the previous section. However this is confusing for editors, and would lead to them appearing in the wrong place for mobile users.
Therefore, would it be somehow possible to change the way Wikipedia lays out these images, so that when written as above, the image appears alongside the subheading for desktop Wikipedia, but below for mobile Wikipedia? How would I go about proposing this change, who would I need to speak to? Tboa talk. 20:53, 1 June 2020 (UTC)
- Not to suggest I know an answer to your questions, but adding images in situations where there is not enough text, whether placed on left or right, is almost always going to result in placement results that look worse than someone's idea of 'optimal'. Extra white space is arguably the least bad that can be expected from algorithms that have to allow for a vast range of display conditions. — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 22:36, 1 June 2020 (UTC)
- Hi there! I suggest posting at Wikipedia:Village pump (technical). Good luck! GoingBatty (talk) 22:50, 1 June 2020 (UTC)
Bicable gondola lift moved to draftspace
editAn article you recently created, Bicable gondola lift, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:
" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. buidhe 19:49, 14 June 2020 (UTC)
Help with archiving reference links
editThis help request has been answered. If you need more help, you can , contact the responding user(s) directly on their user talk page, or consider visiting the Teahouse. |
Is there an automated way, such as a bot or a built-in editing function, to add archived web links to existing references? Currently I am doing it manually and it's rather tedious. Thank you! Tboa talk. 21:54, 29 June 2020 (UTC)
- Yes! See User:InternetArchiveBot, which contains information on how you can run it manually. Happy editing! GoingBatty (talk) 22:41, 29 June 2020 (UTC)

editRegarding iPad names and consistency
editHi! I very much agree with your sentiment that the iPad naming has been very inconsistent and messy. That's why I'm proposing numerous moves, and I'm inviting you to participate at the discussion at Talk:iPad. Cheers! Itsquietuptown t • c 10:55, 18 December 2020 (UTC)

editMac, Moby, Zoe, Kaori, Elise and Psymon are the protagonists of the 2012 game. The DLC was just listed that way as it added classic skins for them. Klayman55 (talk) 05:21, 14 March 2021 (UTC)
