What wikipedia is not

Hi! You seem to be misunderstanding the purpose of wikipedia. It is not a form of social media, like facebook or myspace, where anyone can create a page about themselves. It's an encyclopedia, it contains articles about things, places, and occasionally people. But these topics have to pass stringent notability criteria before they're eligible for inclusion. The overwhelming majority of people out there don't have, and can't have, wikipedia articles and this has nothing to do with how great they are (almost all the great people I know don't pass), it's about notability, and that's completely unrelated.

So please don't try creating any more articles about yourself. However, you're more than welcome to stay and edit in any areas that you are interested in. – Uanfala 22:39, 12 November 2017 (UTC)
