Images on Kwegu people
editHi Temechegn, I am bit worried about the Intellectual Property rights of the images that you placed on Kwegu people. Maybe the two photographs are your own work, but the metadata says that they are scanned. If they have not been taken by you, but you copied them from some book or website, you need to delete them immediately, as this would get the Wikipedia project into legal trouble. We must not have any material on our pages which are not free. This is probably even more true abouth the map - it says it is from a publication by Addisalem Habtamu. If you don't happen to be Addisalem Habtamu (and I'm sure you are not), then this is definitely a violation of copyrights. Please respond to this swiftly, as I will need to delete all images if you cannot clarify that they are indeed free. LandLing 15:48, 3 July 2021 (UTC)
- Dear Landling,
- I took the second picture (Riverbank agriculture) by myself in 2019. It is my own picture. I got the first (canoe boat) and third (the map) pictures from Addisalem, a tour guide & writer of the tour guide book. He allowed me to use these pictures. However, I'm not sure whether such kind o pictures are allowed to be used on Wikipedia. Thus, I remove the first and third pictures from the page [[user: Temechegn.bira/Temechegn.bira]] or [[user talk: Temechegn.bira/talk]] (talk) 16:06, 3 July 2021 (UTC)
- Please I agree to the removal of the first and third pictures from the page [[user: Temechegn.bira/Temechegn.bira]] or [[user talk: Temechegn.bira/talk]] (talk) 16:12, 3 July 2021 (UTC)
- Hi Temechegn, thanks for this clarification. I have removed the two images, and also arranged for their deletion from Wikimedia commons, as they cannot stay there without the proper rights. Only Addisalem can submit them to Wikipedia or to the commons with a CC license. As long as he does not do that, we are not allowed to use the pictures. Which is a pity, as particularly the map is very useful. LandLing 21:28, 3 July 2021 (UTC)
