Mathematics and other things

I'm afraid I've never used the random article feature, but perhaps someone at the Teahouse (see above) can help? Also, look out for wp:wikithons (editing marathons).

For mathematics, a good starting point is probably Wikipedia:WikiProject Mathematics.

Finally, when you want to start a new topic on a talk page (including another editor's), it is best to use the "New section" tab on the top row so that it goes at the end. Hi Matheburg. Thanks for your message. If I understand correctly, your criticism of my edit is that in general, the natural domain of the function $f$ given by $f(x)=x^{r}$ is not $\mathbb {R}$, e.g. in the case $r=1/2$. Is that right? TentativeTypist (talk) 21:26, 21 June 2022 (UTC)

Hi TentativeTypist, Thanks for the fast response. No, I don't see an issue there. It is just that you changed TeX's "\rightarrow" to the "\mapsto" arrow. To define from which domain to which codomain a function maps, one uses the "\to" (aka "\rightarrow"), not the "\mapsto" arrow. Not sure this was just an accident, or a notation misconception on your side. That is why I contact you :) Matheburg (talk) 08:47, 22 June 2022 (UTC)

It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve.
