Hello

Hey guys, so here are some topics I think are interesting: Dementophobia, Gamophobia, Iich'aa, Morphopsychology, Mowgli Syndrome, and wallflower personality. Obviously if you guys have anything interesting feel free to add them to here! We can hopefully discuss these in class tomorrow and come up with a definitive topic to do our project on! I looked into these on the database and I don't think there is enough information on these topics for all of us to contribute, although they are super interesting. I like Tessa's original idea of choosing a person to do our assignment on. I looked into women psychologist that are not recognized as much and there are a lot that we could fix. at first glance it seems like they are complete or have plenty of information, but if you look at the talk page there is a lot to fix and add to. If you guys want to check out Melanie Klein, she was one woman psychologist that needs to be edited on Wikipedia. There is a lot of info on her that we can work with on the database. I only had time to look at her history, but I will look more. what do you guys think? Eggum.tatiana (talk) 19:53, 2 February 2016 (UTC)Reply
More options-Any of the topics under Hypnosis such as the Nancy school or Salpetriere School of hypnosis;Ambroise-Auguste Liebeault ( founder of Nancy school).Eggum.tatiana (talk) 01:10, 3 February 2016 (UTC)Reply

I thought Dementophobia, Gamophobia, and wallflower personality seemed interesting to continue to write more on. But choosing a person to do it on would be a good idea too. We can talk more about it in class tomorrow. Hannah.claessonmaans (talk) 01:47, 3 February 2016 (UTC)Reply

I think that a good topic for us would be Ambrose-Auguste Liebeault. He was one of the founders of the Nancy School. A good second choice could be the Salpetriere School of Hypnosis. Either one would be good.Austinmarquardt (talk) 18:07, 3 February 2016 (UTC)Reply

Dr. Council's comments on your article choices

edit

I think Liebeault is a very good choice. The article has a lot of potential for development. No one has worked on it since 2102, it is pretty sketchy, and there should be a lot of material available. Start by checking books on the history of hypnosis.

The Salpêtrière School of Hypnosis is a much more developed article. It would be more difficult to significantly improve it. J.R. Council (talk) 20:09, 10 February 2016 (UTC)Reply

Assignment 4

edit

I think that the article needs much more information on the Nancy school, his publications, and his influences. The article is also missing a piece on his late career.

Crabtree, A. (2007). Ambroise-Auguste Liébeault: The hypnological legacy of a secular saint Jose Custodio de Faria: hypnotist, priest and revolutionary. Journal Of The History Of The Behavioral Sciences, 43(1), 91-92. doi:10.1002 /jhbs.20212

A history of hypnotism. Gauld, Alan New York, NY, US: Cambridge University Press A history of hypnotism. (1992). xvii 738 pp.

Where are the best places to find sources for this article? I'm having issues finding good articles that could help expand this article. I've looked on Ndsu's library data bases and google scholar so far. ALSO, what should we include in the section that contains his Influences in order to include everything important? We should reorganize the last paragraph in the first section into an "Early Life" section and add that into the contents box.

Carroy, Jacqueline. "Liebeault, Ambroise Auguste (1823-1904)." International Dictionary of Psychoanalysis. 2005. Encyclopedia.com. 25 Feb. 2016 <http://www.encyclopedia.com>. This is an article that briefly goes over his early life (growing up, education, etc.) and some of his theories regarding hypnosis.

http://pustaka.unpad.ac.id/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/practical-applications-of-medical-and-dental-hypnosis.pdf This book also briefly talks about how Ambroise got into hypnosis and his work with Freud.

Is the first article about his early life credible? Even though it is from a .com site, the author pulled the information from his bibliography (which I was unable to find). Would you be able to point me in the right direction to find that? Additionally, I think that one of those boxes on google that briefly tells you about the person before you go to the article would be kind of cool to add. I agree that the article definitely need more information about the Nancy School, this section is very short right now and needs some improvement. I think overall there is not much information about Ambroise-Auguste Liébeault and his life so we could hopefully add a lot to that.

Alvarado, C. (2009). Ambroise August Liébeault and Psychic Phenomena. American Journal of Clinical Hypnosis, 52(2), 111-121.

Brower, M., & Smith, Bonnie. (2005). The Fantasms of Science: Psychical Research in the French Third Republic, 1880--1935, 372 p.

It was hard finding good source about this topic, any suggestions on how to find good sources? I search on Google scholar and the NDSU Library database and did not find that many results. I also feel like it is important that we add more about Liébeault himself since the information about him was very short. Also, just like Austin I was unable to find some of the references already used in the article. What should we do about this, should we exclude that information or check if it is correct with the sources we find? (Hannah.claessonmaans (talk) 04:32, 26 February 2016 (UTC))Reply

1)Missing important historical information about Ambroise-Auguste Liebeault’s career such as details on how he is associated with Nancy School of hypnosis

2)Peiffer, V. (2013). Principles of Hypnotherapy: What it Is, how it Works, and what it Can Do for You. Singing Dragon. Andriopoulos, S. (2011). The Sleeper Effect: Hypnotism, Mind Control, Terrorism. Grey Room

3)Can this topic actually be completed further because of the lack of English translated sources? AND what is the “note” section at the bottom of the page. Is that something we have to be familiar with and know how to do?Eggum.tatiana (talk) 14:42, 8 February 2016 (UTC)Eggum.tatiana (talk) 17:27, 4 March 2016 (UTC)Reply
