CFD nomination of Category:1813 in Germany

edit

I have nominated Category:1813 in Germany, a category you created back in early June, for deletion. I have done this because Germany did not come into existence until 1871. The discussion for the nomination can be found here: [1]. Terrakyte (talk) 22:21, 1 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Sorry for the mess

edit

Hello. While perusing AfD, I ran across your listing for Chicago Film Producers Alliance. However my take on the beginning part [2] is a little different. ATurnerIII (talk · contribs) did not complain loudly; he instead asked nicely [3] to the first random member of Category:Wikipedia administrators who will provide copies of deleted articles he found - which happened to be me. As per his request, I userfied it and left him instructions [4] to "improve the article so that it meets our organizational notability standards," and then "move it back into article space." Had I known that he ignored my instructions and re-created essentially the exact same article the next day, I would have deleted it myself. I am not sure what I should have done differently, but I am sorry that you have had to deal with this entire mess, and especially the editor's belligerent attitude. I feel responsible, and would like to apologize to you. --Kralizec! (talk) 15:41, 2 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

<Shrug> Thanks. I hear what you say about him not "complaining loudly" at first. What I have seen has mostly fit that. Sorry to have misstated the history. As for dealing with the attitude, I consider that to be par for the course. When I visit CAT:CSD to process deletion requests, I'm likely to upset someone. Being an admin has given me pretty thick skin. Anyway, I have no problem with your actions, and had in fact offered to userfy the article for the author myself. You just did it first. I suspect if you had not gotten involved, I would have ended up doing much the same thing myself, and the situation would have played out very similarly. <Shrug> - TexasAndroid (talk) 17:15, 2 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
Striking one bit. Looks like I was mixing up who I offered userification to. I still likely would have done so at some point, as that's part of my standard process. - TexasAndroid (talk) 17:18, 2 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Many thanks....

Thank you much for the Barnstar... Eve Hall deserves one as well... as do you... everyone there who showed continued patience and civility. Your consideration is much appreciated. Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 07:04, 5 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

If you think Eve deserves one, then feel free to hand out one that way. Your actions were the ones *I* particularly noticed. As for the possibility of me getting one, I'll pass on that particular one. I can see how such might seem like salt in the wounds of certain people, and I see no reason to cause such. My part in this saga ended days ago when I realized anything I wrote was inflaming the situation instead of calming it. - TexasAndroid (talk) 16:37, 5 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Deleting "Chicago Film Producers Alliance"

edit

I don't care for a subjective and inconsistent process. And the fact that you and others have group think and banded together to delete the article is more evidence of the site's weakness. Sure, I can have more 3rd party article written about CFPA and will. In fact, they are being writting now. But, it's too late. This has become a legal issue. I'm in contact with my attornies about antitrusut violations and soon will contact the site's owner. You can't accept other similar groups for different reasons and selectively reject CFPA. It's illegal. And rest assured, when the summons are issued, your name will be on one.--ATurnerIII (talk) 00:26, 6 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Nicholas de Fleury and Francis Crawford of Lymond - Family Tree

edit

I created the above mentioned page and saw that you had nominated it (and had it) deleted a few months ago - I was just wondering why this was the case? Perhaps a solution would be to move the information to the Lymond Chronicles page or The House of Niccolò page (or both?) if you do not feel it can stand alone? Thanks - Merteuil (talk) 00:32, 7 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

See Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Nicholas de Fleury and Francis Crawford of Lymond - Family Tree for why it was deleted. I did not nominate it, I only processed the result, which was a clear Delete consensus. - TexasAndroid (talk) 02:33, 7 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Deletion of Trados

edit

Hi,

Could you please userfy the deleted versions of Trados, which you deleted, for me? I am thinking of rewriting the article and could perhaps make use of old versions. Cheers, Clayoquot (talk | contribs) 23:41, 7 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

I have undeleted the history. No real reason to keep it deleted when there is a useful history since the last deletion. I have also declined/contested your PROD for a couple of reasons. PROD should not be used on redirects, but also nothing about it being currently a redirect prevents you from replacing the redirect with a useful article. But as for the restored history, I believe you will not be finding anything useful in there. (Nothing there really to be useful.) Useful or not, the history is now visible. Anyway, good luck. - TexasAndroid (talk) 15:29, 8 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
Thanks. Yep, the history isn't useful ;) Regarding whether being a redirect prevents me from creating a useful article, I agree it doesn't. However it does prevent people with less wiki knowledge from figuring out how to create the article. Clayoquot (talk | contribs) 16:14, 9 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Madison Community Cooperative

edit

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Madison Community Cooperative, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

only primary sources are offered, and not many

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. No content in Category:2012 in South Africa

edit

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Category:2012 in South Africa, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Category:2012 in South Africa has been empty for at least four days, and its only content has been links to parent categories. (CSD C1).

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Category:2012 in South Africa, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. Debelah Morgan

edit

Hi,

Last November you deleted It's Not Over (Debelah Morgan album) with the reasoning that "artist has no article here". Debelah has an article, I wrote it in early 2005 and it still exists, as do the articles of her other albums. Can you please re-create the article? She is notable enough.

regards, – Alensha talk 20:24, 7 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

The entire totality of that page was a track listing. No description, no references, no cover, no nothing. As such, it's really not worth restoring. If you want to create a worthwhile page on the album, feel free to do so. - TexasAndroid (talk) 04:21, 8 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Thanks, I thought it was a useful article like her two other albums. I'll try to write a worthwile one. – Alensha talk 14:39, 8 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Category:924 BC

edit

I notice that this category you created is unpopulated (empty). In other words, no Wikipedia pages belong to (are members of) it. If it remains unpopulated for four days, it may be deleted, without discussion, in accordance with Wikipedia:Criteria for speedy deletion#C1. I'm notifying you in case you wish to (re-)populate it by adding [[Category:924 BC]] to articles/categories that belong in it.

I have also blanked the category page. This will not, in itself, cause the category to be deleted. It serves to document (in the page history) that the category was empty at the time of blanking and also to alert other watchers that the category is in jeopardy. You are welcome to revert the blanking if you wish. However, doing so will not prevent deletion if the category remains empty.

If you created the category in error, or it is no longer needed, you can speed up the deletion process by tagging it with {{db-author}}.

--Stepheng3 (talk) 20:52, 10 February 2009 (UTC) Same thing with Category:559 BC disestablishments. --Stepheng3 (talk) 20:54, 10 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

I have no problems with date categories that I created being CSD:C1 deleted if they now truly fit the bills. All had articles in them when they were created, but obviously things change. There's really no need to list out each one for me that you find like this. - TexasAndroid (talk) 22:34, 10 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedians by alma matter

edit

Might you be able to explain to me exactly what the problem is with the article creation I attempted. I don't really understand the notion of project versus some other namespace, particularly how such distinction can be controlled. There is not currently such a group, and there should be, as I am a probable Wikipedian, and I did graduate from CalState Fullerton. Have you any suggestions? William R. Buckley (talk) 17:31, 22 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

See Wikipedia:Categorization. You wanted to create a category, and instead created an article. Wikipedia is sectioned off by namespaces, with different namespaces serving different functions. If you look at your contribution list, and click the Namespace dropdown in the search area, you'll see a list of various namespaces on the project. Categories go in the category namespace. They simply will not function if they are not there. What you did was create an article in the main project namespace, that had the contents of a desired category. Anyway, please read the categorization link above for information on how categorization is supposed to work. - TexasAndroid (talk) 05:00, 23 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Perfectly valid stub, asserts notability, and doesn't need tagging. Unfortunately, there are only 24 hours in my day. When I am the only one writing this series of articles, I can't do everything at once. Thanks. --Rodhullandemu 01:02, 7 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

It was unsourced and uncategorized. Those were the two tags I added to it. Being a stub does not exempt it from sourcing requirements, and all articles are supposed to be categorized. - TexasAndroid (talk) 21:46, 7 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Page: Ng Chee Yang

edit

TexasAndroid - I realised you deleted the page Ng Chee Yang just yesterday. I'm a representative of the artiste Ng Chee Yang [1], and I was going to update the page with the existing information. Could you restore the page so that I can work on the information that was already present? Thanks.

Gefang (talk) 06:03, 9 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

The article was deleted because it was tagged for over 1.5 years as likely not meeting notability inclusion requirements, and looking at it yesterday, I saw no indication that this had changed in the intervening time. You need to read WP:NOTE and WP:BIO for these requirements. If your client does not meet these requirements, then his page will likely remain deleted, it's as simple as that. And you need to show exactly how the requirements are meet, preferably by providing reliable, independent, non-trivial references to establish his notability. Anyway, in the mean time, I have userified the article for you to work on at User:Gefang/Ng Chee Yang. - TexasAndroid (talk) 15:32, 9 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Criticism of Barack Obama

edit

You deleted this article, but I have a couple questions: One, where is the history of discussion related to that specific article. Two, what was its actual content at the time of deletion? Three, was there an AFD for the article or was it speedy-deleted? -Stevertigo 17:36, 11 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

The version that I deleted consisted, in sum total of the statement "Page currently under construction". We do not do under construction pages like that on the project, and thus it was deleted under CSD-A3, for having no content. Before that it was deleted by User:Versageek on October 23, 2008 and User:Nancy on January 26, 2009 for being an attack page, and by User:Gogo Dodo, as the first speedy delete on October 23, 2008, for also at that time having no content. I stand by my speedy deletion action, as there indeed was nothing useful there at the time. You will have to ask the other three admins about their actions. - TexasAndroid (talk) 21:52, 11 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Tagging articles

edit

It would be create when you tag new article with a lot of templates, as you did to Crede procedure, if you use {{Articleissues}} instead of the individual templates, it really helps to improve readability and reduce clutter. For example, see this diff which shows me converting all the tags you placed on the above article become converted to {{articleissues}}. Happy editing! Foxy Loxy Pounce! 02:15, 14 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

I have one major problem with {{Articleissues}}, that will likely make me hesitant to use it until/unless solved. The template does not place the article in the appropriate categories for the uncat criteria. The people who patrol the uncat tags are one of the fastest groups to fix the situations for their tags. Articles are regularly categorized within 24-48 hours after uncat tagging. But if the articles are not properly categorized for the uncat groups, you are defeating the ability of this group to get these things fixed. I'm going to bring this subject up on a couple of appropriate template talk pages. This should be able to be fixed, but as it is now, I do not like the combined template. - TexasAndroid (talk) 04:37, 16 March 2009 (UTC)Reply
And seeing the response you got on the template talk page, it's worse than a lack of categories, the uncat is apparently totally not supported with the AI template. I would ask you to please not be wrapping up uncat templates into the AI template until/unless uncat is supported. And that you undo any such wrap-ups that you have done on articles that I have tagged. - TexasAndroid (talk) 04:43, 16 March 2009 (UTC)Reply
Yes, I have rectified the only article on which I changed it. So it has the articleissues template at the top and uncat at the bottom (which is suggested on its documentation page). Foxy Loxy Pounce! 07:18, 16 March 2009 (UTC)Reply
Personally, at this time, I'm not too concerned about top or bottom for Uncat. Given how fast the categorization people are handling these, it's IMHO kinda a moot issue. But thank you for the undo. - TexasAndroid (talk) 13:32, 16 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

about NRHP disambig pages

edit

I see in your contribution history that you are very active on short pages. A month ago you converted a two item disambig page at Effingham County Courthouse into a redirect. I just recreated the dab page. Technically i agree you were right to be concerned that one of the two items was a redlink, not supported by a bluelink as is in fact required for MOSDAB compliance. In my re-creation, i put in a supporting bluelink that complies, per MOS:DABRL and per extensive discussions with dab editors at the Disambiguation WikiProject.

If in the future you come across other short disambig pages involving NRHP listings, I would appreciate your noting it to me. I will come fix it up, perhaps creating the NRHP articles for individual sites and/or adding required extra bluelinks. Thanks, and keep up the good work! :) doncram (talk) 08:06, 8 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

I have no problem with this in theory, but as a practical matter, when the short disambig gives no indication that NRHP is involved, then this is not an easy request to fulfill. - TexasAndroid (talk) 13:20, 8 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Jakesnake13 (talk) 02:17, 9 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

It was deleted because you blanked it with an edit comment of "this is a duplicate page made by needing administrative rights" and contents of "this page needs to be deleted". Sorry if I misinterpreted "this page needs to be deleted" as a request to.... delete it. It is standard process on the project that, when a page is blanked by it's sole or primary author, that is taken as a desire for the page to be deleted. And when the page itself says that it needs to be deleted, that's another pretty unambiguous sign.
Anyway, if you would like for me to undo this deletion, please just say so. - TexasAndroid (talk) 04:54, 9 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Marginal, at best, if that. WP:BAND says "Has been the subject of multiple non-trivial published works whose source....". You have one. One is not "multiple". I've restored it for now, as, at the minimum that one source invalidates my A7 speedy deletion, but I would suggest you find more sources, or it's still likely to be deleted at WP:AFD. - TexasAndroid (talk) 17:16, 17 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

How can i add more of my resources if you delete my page? Why? I am not some whack that puts up false info (that happens here and it sucks because i love your site and i think you guys do a good job with it)

What can i do to put this back up? Give me a chance. Thanks Texas

Twmp420 (talk) 19:33, 18 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

You were given three days, after which time the person who originally requested speedy deletion requested it again, after seeing no progress on the notability/sourcing front. I addressed the deletion request, saw nothing that to my eye showed that the group met notability requirements, and then processed the deletion request.
As for moving forward, I have userfied the article at User:Twmp420/Sheephead (Punk Band). This gives you a place to work on the article and bring it up to the proper inclusion standards before you try to again place it out in the main article space. Sort of a personal work area for it. Please see WP:BAND for notability inclusion requirements for musical groups. If the group does not meet specifically one of the numbered requirements, or you cannot provide reliable, independant, non-trivial references to establish their notability, then you are likely fighting a losing fight on this. But if you can say exactly which requirement that they meet, and provide the needed sources to show this, then you are likely going to end up with a nice article. - TexasAndroid (talk) 01:44, 19 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Please see WP:BIO. Specifically, for entertainers, it requires "...significant roles in multiple notable films, television, ..." One or more minor roles does not qualify, sorry. - TexasAndroid (talk) 13:43, 6 May 2009 (UTC)Reply
Likely not, but I don't see how that is relevant for WP:CSD#A7, which does not require that the subject meets the notability guidelines. decltype (talk) 13:45, 6 May 2009 (UTC)Reply
A7 requires that they at least make a claim that they might be notable, and for the project notability is defined by those guidelines. If you want me to restore it, I will, but I will be immediately submitting it for AFD as well then. I think that's far more trouble than is needed for an article that IMHO obviously does not meet the inclusion requirements, but I will do so if you would like. - TexasAndroid (talk) 13:52, 6 May 2009 (UTC)Reply
I disagree. A claim of "importance or significance" is "a lower standard than notability". Either way, thanks for being cooperative. I think it's important that articles who are not 100% uncontroversial deletion candidates goes through an AfD debate, even if the outcome is the same. decltype (talk) 15:02, 6 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

deletion of Buy Our Records Inc. Oct. 2007

edit

Dear TexasAndroid, I started using wikipedia just a few months ago as a reference, so I don't know my way around. I was a partner in BOR for several years, we put out twenty-something LP's, almost all on cassette also, maybe 5-6 CD's ourselves in the US, a few under a manufacturing and distribution deal with Restless/Enigma and several releases as Buy Our Records Europe under a joint-venture agreement with Semaphore Productions of Schagem(?spelling), Netherlands. We put out: a record by Pussy Galore, Pussy Gold 5000, Raging Slab's first two records, 2 from The Electric Love Muffin, The Honeymoon Killers, The Love Dolls (who were also in two movies and whose bass-player Abigail became succesful); and 3 from Adrenalin O.D. 'The Wacky Hijinks of Adrenalin O.D' sold 50,000 units including foreign licensing. Other bands on our label included P.M.S. (Pre-Metal Syndrome), Pleased Youth, Children in Adult Jails, F.O.D. (Flag of Democracy), Skulls, Big Stick, X-Men, Bedlam, Bodies in Panic Some of our releases made the Radio Airplay charts of CMJ (College Music Journal) and Rockpool. We advertised in Spin, Creem ,Rip and a bunch of smaller magazines. Our last release M&D'd with Restless records as a Buy Our/Restless release was from 'Lucky 7' titled "Feed the Snake". It received a favorable review in 'Rolling Stone' with 3 stars, and their live shows were sponsored by Miller Beer for two years. We ended-up losing a considerable amount of money, and I put in what unfortunately were my most productive few years to date. I'm disappointed to see you deleted the entry on Buy Our Records. Sir/Madam you deleted part of my life! Can you help me out here? I have some press clippings about the label in print format which I would be happy to mail. No big resentment, but would like to set the record straight. BTW Some of OUR releases are wrongly listed as "self-released" under entries under the bands name in wikipedia. Sincerely, AaronNickmauriello (talk) 18:17, 6 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

The sum total of the deleted content was "Buy Our Records was a popular indie punk label in the late 1980s.". This does not in any way show that this is a notable company. Ideally, an article on a company shows why it meets the requirements at WP:CORP, including providing reliable, independant, non-trivial references to establish the notability.
Anyway, if you are able to provide such references, then feel free to create a new article on the subject from scratch. At this point, and given the lack of anything useful on the old version, I don't see much point in undeleting it at this time. - TexasAndroid (talk) 21:53, 6 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Thank you, Ms./Mr. Android, I agree with your decree. I'll meet with my ex-partners to try and get dates and some objectivity(hopefully). G_d bless you for doing all this pro-bono work, Bono does a lot too... Lock of No Surprise (Daughtry)

edit

Can you unlock No Surprise (Daughtry)? The reason I ask is because the song was just debuted on American Idol yesterday, and it has been airing all over the country today. It is unfortunate that it is locked because there is all sorts of news about the song that should be placed into this record. Thank you. summerridge123 (talk) 12:47, 7 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

It's only semi protected, and you were able to edit it yourself. Given the repeated removal of the deletion notice over the last few days, mostly by IP addresses now prevented from doing so, I'm not particularly inclined to unblock until the deletion debate has concluded. Semi protection allows it to be edited by registered accounts if it needs to be edited. - TexasAndroid (talk) 21:55, 7 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

page deletion

edit

i wanted to know why you deleted one of my pages. You said it was because of unambiguous copyrite infringment. How would that apply if i also was the one who created the web site you said I copied it from? Let me know what I need to do to keep the page. Thank You. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Scorpio61116 (talkcontribs)

There are several factors involved here. Read WP:DCM. Most of what I say in the following is summary/interpretation. THe link is the official policy on this.
First off, anyone can say that they created anything from the net. You will need to prove that you have the rights to the material. WP:DCM describes how to do this.
Second, you need to be aware of exactly what this all entails. Text submitted to the project must be submitted under the GFDL license. The license means a number of things, but at the core, buy submitting under the GFDL, you are saying that your text can be reused by anyone, for any purpose, commercial purposes included, as long as the rules of the GFDL are followed. And the GFDL rules are mostly abotu properly attributing the source of the material.
So, if you are OK with this, and can properly follow the steps at WP:DCM, you can get past the copyright hurdle for your article. That still may leave notability problems, though. Please also read Wikipedia:Notability (organizations and companies)#Non-commercial organizations. If your organization does not meet notability requirements, you may very well overcome the copyright issues, just to see it deleted again as failing the notability inclusion criteria. - TexasAndroid (talk) 23:43, 10 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Page Deletion (Kim Donaldson)

edit

Dear Texas Andriod you deleted my page Kim Donaldson an article about the international wildlife artist citing G8. I'm new to Wikipedia and although i have read the explanation of what the G8 criteria is i don't understand where the link to a non-existant page criteria applies? Also please tell me you still somewhere in the ether have the userfy as being new it took me an absolute age to get it set up just right. I look forward to your help with this.

With regard to the copyright infringment regarding the biography I have permission to use this as it was originally written by Kim Donaldson himself and he is my Father in-law.

Regards Kevin Payne Kevinlouispayne (talk) 09:46, 14 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

It was deleted as G12-copyright, not G8. As for dealing with the copyright situation, read my response in the section just above. You will need to prove that you are the copyright owner before you can donate the text to the project. - 13:43, 14 May 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for the prompt response. If I understand correctly I can show ownership and responsibility under the terms of the GNU FD licence by placeing this statement at the end of the page The text of this page is available for modification and reuse under the terms of the GNU Free Documentation License, Version 1.2 and later and under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribute Share-Alike Is this the case and is there still a copy of the page that you can give me the userfy info on? regards Kevinlouispayne —Preceding undated comment added 15:51, 14 May 2009 (UTC).Reply

Further to this discussion I have requested and recieved permission through www.kim-donaldson.com to use the text. I e-mailed permissions-en@wikimedia.org as suggested in your response above. When can I expect to get the page up and running? Best regards, Kevinlouispayne (talk) 16:33, 14 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Kevin - please read the WP:DCM link referenced above. In particular, the quote you list above would not go on a Wikipedia page; it would have to go on the original page to be useful. Also, it would not be you who emails, as you do not own the copyright and therefore cannot grant it. You would have to get the original owner to grant permission to use it. Note that the email is only the first step. The actual permission is maintained in WP:OTRS. The instructions provide more details.  Frank  |  talk  18:13, 14 May 2009 (UTC)Reply
In addition, having just now looked at the content of the deleted page, I can also say that you will need more sources and a re-write of the page. In addition to having permission to use copyrighted material, you will need to establish notability and you will need citations from reliable sources. Finally, you'll need to make sure it's not written like an advertisement; see WP:CORP, which doesn't 100% apply but gives a general idea.  Frank  |  talk  18:17, 14 May 2009 (UTC)Reply
IMHO the page as it was had at least an assertion of notability, with the number of listed exhibits. So that would get it past A7 CSD, IMHO at least. AFD is another matter entirely. Additional sourcing would go a long way toward helping it be of sufficient quality an article to survive a full deletion debate. - TexasAndroid (talk) 22:51, 14 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Thanks so much for the help i'll get stuck into understanding the various other criteria you indicated and get to work re-writing. As I said i'm new to this so i'll have to get my head down and iron the article out. Regarding Notabilty Kim's work is sold in Auction Houses internationally and he has a great number of works placed in major collections so I think i'll try to get permission from those institutions to metnion them to help add notability. Also where can I re-build the page and have you look at it once I feel i've fullfilled the criteria, can i save it in the sand box? Thanks again Kevinlouispayne (talk) 10:07, 15 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Thanks...

...I was really wondering what to do after a deletion, a CSD, a note to author not to remove CSD tag...but as often happens, validation appeared in the form of an uninvolved admin reaching the same conclusion.  Frank  |  talk  14:04, 14 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

I usually give a page three strikes. If I'm doing the third deletion, especially if it's three in a short period of time or three for similar reasons, then I give serious thought to WP:SALTing it. - TexasAndroid (talk) 22:49, 14 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Blocked LDRA page

edit

I'm new to adding content to Wikipedia so please forgive any formatting issues. I noticed that the LDRA article has been removed multiple times. I checked LDRA's competitors, Parasoft and Klocwork and found that their pages were similar in regards to content.

LDRA has been around since 1975 and has been a pioneer in the software analysis and testing field. We have plenty of content that would be meaningful to an encyclopedia, particular the innovations in the field that have furthered software testing across the globe.

I'd like to get some suggestions that would be acceptable to the administrative team so content can be posted accordingly. I would greatly appreciate some tips and the chance to post some meaningful content that would fit wikipedia's charter.

The article was created and deleted five times. Four at LDRA, and once more at LDRA Ltd. Of the five deletions, three were because the notability inclusion criteria were not met, and 2 were because the written article read like advertising.
For the first, you need to be able to show that your company meets the requirements shown at WP:CORP. The presence or absence of your competitors is irrelevant. The notability of the company in question, by Wikipedia's standards of notability, needs to be shown. Rea that link, as it shows what needs to be done to meet the requirements.
As for advertising, that's a matter of tone. See WP:SPAM for information on avoiding those problems,
If you are wanting a starting place to work from, I can place the older deleted revisions in your user space for you to work on to improve to a point where they will meet the project's requirements. - TexasAndroid (talk) 16:21, 15 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

I respectfully request that you un-delete WikiCity. Thank you in advance for your quick response. —Preceding unsigned comment added by NEMN (talkcontribs) 19:31, 18 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Please read WP:WEB. You must show how the page meets one of the listed criteria. Pages on Wikipedia must meet Wikipedia's definition of notability in order to be included. If you cannot show specifically how the site meets one of the listed criteria, then you are fighting a losing battle, sorry. Especially with a proper deletion debate so recently on the subject. - TexasAndroid (talk) 00:47, 19 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

REDCASTLE UNITED

edit

Yet again Mr. Texas you have deleted a page that i had created on Redcastle United with you indicating it is a straight copy of a document from another page. I did use this as a reference but clearly put my own spin on the document. I am new to this wikipedia website and find it abit over whelming how complicated it can be to add just a few paragraphs to a page. Thus my patience with trying to contribute something as innocent as the history of an amateur football team is at the end of its teather. If you have provided the link in the deletion log of the original document you can clearly check that the original document is not a copy of my finished product. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Redcastle01 (talkcontribs) 22:22, 19 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Redcastle United was not deleted as a copy or copyright violation, it was deleted because it did not show how it might meet the notability inclusion criteria of the project. All articles must show that their subject meets a certain level of notability before they can keep pages on the project. In this specific case, please read WP:ORG for the notability criteria for organizations. - TexasAndroid (talk) 22:31, 19 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion of Tim Hammond (Australia)??

edit

Just querying why this page was deleted? Tim Hammond is a leading asbestos litigation specialist in Australia - taking cases all the way to the High Court of Australia and winning landmark cases for people suffering from asbestosis (or mesothelioma). He is recognised by the Australian media as an expert, as all of the referenced articles will attest, and I believe he certainly fits the notability criterion due to his high profile and success in this area. Also, people with mesothelioma will know of him, and may want to find out more due to his experience in this area. Can you advise what else would help this page remain, as I felt the second revision provided a number of third-party, verifiable sources as to the notability criterion. thanks wadelappWadelapp (talk) 03:10, 20 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Your arguments have made me think that there's a possibility that he might be notable, though I really do not see it. But that uncertainty invalidates the A7 speedy deletion. So I have restored the article, and instead listed it for a full deletion discussion. Thus you will have a full seven days to plead your case to a fuller audience of Wikipedians. - TexasAndroid (talk) 03:45, 20 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Hi, why did you delete COLSAC? I thought it met the criteria. --Theboardchairman (talk) 17:45, 25 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Please read WP:CORP for notability requirements for companies for the project. - TexasAndroid (talk) 21:18, 25 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

The company has received reviews from newspapers and awards from the NAACP and a lot of celebrities have attended events hosted by COLSAC and all of the proof was on their reviews page, but I was told not to edit the wiki page anymore.--Theboardchairman (talk) 02:49, 26 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Newspaper articles on the company would indeed help establish notability. But you need to provide direct links to the reviews, not links to your company's site. If you would like to continue to work on the article to try to get it to a point where it meets the project's requirements, I would be glad to move it to your userspace where you can work on it with a lot less threat of immediate deletion. - TexasAndroid (talk) 18:22, 26 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

I would love that. --Theboardchairman (talk) 09:19, 27 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

It is now at User:Theboardchairman/COLSAC. Please, please read WP:DCM and WP:CORP. Unless you deal with the issues from both those links, your article is very likely to be deleted once again if it is moved back into article space.
On the copyright issue, the requirement for a link back to your web site is most likely incompatible with the GFDL. You need to release under the GFDL, which has specific limits and requirements, and you cannot add additional ones.
On the notability issue, you need to provide links to reliable, independant, non-trivial references to establish it's notability. - TexasAndroid (talk) 13:59, 27 May 2009 (UTC)Reply
