Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you must sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You may also click on the signature button   located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 20:49, 15 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

A belated welcome!

Sorry for the belated welcome, but the cookies are still warm!

Here's wishing you a belated welcome to Wikipedia, TheQw. I see that you've already been around a while and wanted to thank you for your contributions. Though you seem to have been successful in finding your way around, you may benefit from following some of the links below, which help editors get the most out of Wikipedia:

Also, when you post on talk pages you should sign your name using four tildes (~~~~); that should automatically produce your username and the date after your post.

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! If you have any questions, feel free to leave me a message on my talk page, consult Wikipedia:Questions, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and ask your question there.

Again, welcome! VQuakr (talk) 18:48, 2 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

GNH

edit

I redirected Bhutan GNH index back to Gross National Happiness, as the two appear to be about the same thing (GNH is a Bhutan subject, so the two titles are redundant). If you still think the articles should be split, please consider starting a discussion at Talk:Gross National Happiness to explain why. Thanks! VQuakr (talk) 18:49, 2 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hi VQuakr! Thank you. That's helpful as the Bhutan GNH Index page is under construction. I will be adding new material to it tonight and tomorrow (the GNH Index is a separate thing from the GNH philosophy and deserves its own page). The reason for the apparent repetition of material is that I had left a bunch from the GNH page as placeholders. I'll start a discussion, but would also like to simultaneously continue working on the new page. Would you mind sharing how I can remove the redirect later on? Thanks. --TheQw 20:20, 2 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hi TheQw, thank you for your edits. Please review Wiki guidelines for editing and citations. Sometimes new editors who are connected to the subject matter or the author are passionate and can be biased in their edits without intention.

Please consider the following rules for editing in order to avoid potential sanctions and penalties from the administrators. 1. Declare any connection to the authors you are writing about, especially if you worked or interned with them or got paid by them. 2. Declare if you have more than account on Wikipedia. 2. Do not coordinate with other authors to make edits to win an argument. 3. Do not cite author's original articles in relation to a dated material. Any author can publish a paper or a video stating she or he worked on a project or knew about something earlier; he might be truthful or not; no one knows!. That is why Wikipedia requires using independent references and sources. For example, if an author publishes a concept in a paper in 2012 based on 2010 work, then in the same paper, he claims that he knew about it in 2008 pilot and he also knew about it in 2006 pre-pilot. It is not a common or standard language and it is clear attempt by the author to claim earlier knowledge. This does not mean the author is lying. It just raises questions. What to do in that case? It is OK to write the date of publishing as referenced by independent sources as 2012, but it i not OK to write that the author knew the about the concept 5 years before. The research community do not care about claims of knowledge, they care about date of publishing. Citing earlier dates is considered misleading and you might be unwittingly helping in promoting of unreliable information. 4. Wikipedia is not a cross-marketing platform. It is an encyclopedia of topics. So do not write about other similar non-GNH authors or concepts or initiatives. Create separate pages for non-GNH authors, then link them to GNH page via related topics tab or section at the bottom of the page.

No one is accusing you of any of the above actions, this is only some guidelines to avoid getting in trouble with other editors or administrators.

Thanks!. — Preceding unsigned comment added by USHistoryEditor (talkcontribs) 05:23, 3 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:

  1. Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment; or
  2. With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button (  or  ) located above the edit window.

This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.

Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 20:37, 2 April 2017 (UTC)Reply
