Looking for input, My First article

edit

looking for input on the subject matter acceptability for an article I am writing

Hi All;

Looking for input from other experienced editors regarding my first article for Wikipedia.

This is a page I have wanted to create since 2011, but have not up until now. I saw the instruction "Be Bold" and figured the way to begin a journey of 1000 miles is to take the first step.

Drop in to my User:Sandbox and have a look at the stub for the article "Stinkless Pussy".

This article will be fleshed out a bit more, but I want to see if conforms to Wiki Standards before putting a LOT more work into it.

I feel that the article is relevant and is NOTEWORTHY as the comedy bit that it references specifically includes a reference to Wikipedia. The bit is crude, vulgar and outrageous but is, in fact, comedy. As part of the exaggeration that MAKES it comedy it attempts to cite Wikipedia as a reference. "I'm not just making s**t up here, this is on Wikipedia"

Due to that statement in the bit, I think that users MAY be inclined to search for the phrase "Stinkless Pussy" after listening to the album. I know that I have, on several occasions. Until now I have always gotten the "This Page Does Not Exist, But You Can Ask For It To Be Created" message. I feel that by putting the page in, and fully referencing the performer, the album and the bit that it becomes self justifying.

I have searched just the term "Pussy" here on Wiki and there are myriad articles that use the word in the same context, IE: as a slang term for female genitalia. Because of this, I do not feel that it is so vulgar or obscene as to warrant exclusion.

It DOES mention Stinkless Pussy as an invention of the Norwegians. Again, this is a comedy bit, and not a nationalistic attack. It was performed live in the city of OSLO, NORWAY, and the Norwegians in the audience laughed heartily. They did not take offense to it.

Give it a quick review and any input, either positive or negative will be appreciated and considered. There is an external link at the bottom to a Youtube video of the bit. I have spoken personally with Doug Stanhope, the performer, and he does not view these Youtube posts as violations of his copyright. I will obtain full sign-off before publication if the link is felt to be usefully to the article.

As far as I can see that is not a suitable subject for a Wikipedia article; in particular, that something or someone mentions Wikipedia is not indicative of notability. When reliable sources have produced significant coverage of this particular piece of puerile humour (if ever) then it would be notable; even then, an article would not do synthesis or state opinions as your draft does. Howdy, TOTP. Wikipedia has many paths and sideroads. I agree with Pinkbeast that the article probably won't survive an article for deletion discussion but the outcome might be WP:MERGE to the Oslo: Burning the Bridge to Nowhere article that is now just a poor stub. Put a header with the double-equal-signs around the bit title and draft it as a section to be added to the CD/DVD stub.
Oh, and use some of your bandwidth to watch the first video in WP:REFB. It'll help you make good in-line citations the easy way. Bare URL's like those used in the North Carolina LINKS Program article are frowned upon and the citations in your draft would be criticized as incomplete and difficult to verify. Hope this is helpful as you begin your Wikipedia journey. Take care, DocTree (ʞlɐʇ·cont) Join WER 20:47, 3 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

  Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to North Carolina LINKS Program may have broken the syntax by modifying 1 "[]"s. If you have, don't worry: just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.

External links, & references

Looking at your article North Carolina LINKS Program, I see that you are somewhat confused about references and external links. Two useful files to read are WP:External links and WP:Referencing for beginners. - David Biddulph (talk) 00:42, 3 October 2013 (UTC)Reply
