Welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that your username, "The Richardson Olmsted Campus", may not comply with our username policy. Please note that you may not use a username that represents the name of a company, group, organization, product, service, or website. Examples of usernames that are not allowed include "XYZ Company", "MyWidgetsUSA.com", and "Foobar Museum of Art". However, you are permitted to use a username that contains such a name if it identifies you individually (not your role), such as "Sara Smith at XYZ Company", "Mark at WidgetsUSA", or "FoobarFan87", but not "SEO Manager at XYZ Company".

Please also note that Wikipedia does not allow accounts to be shared by multiple people and that you may not advocate for or promote any company, group, organization, product, service, or website, regardless of your username. Please also read our paid editing policy and our conflict of interest guideline. If you are a single individual and are willing to contribute to Wikipedia in an unbiased manner, please request a change of username by completing the form at Special:GlobalRenameRequest, choosing a username that complies with our username policy. Alternatively, you can just create a new account and use that for editing. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. Thank you. Your account has been indefinitely blocked from editing because your account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia. Also, your username gives the impression that the account represents a business, organisation, group, or web site, which is against the username policy.

If you intend to make useful contributions instead of promoting your business or organization, you may request unblock and a username change. In your reasons, you must:

  • Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the paid-contribution disclosure requirement; and
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked; and
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked; and
  • Provide a new username.

To do this, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked.

Please note that the new username you choose cannot already be taken and in use by another account. You can go here to search and see if the username you'd like to choose is available. If the search returns that no global account with that username exists, that means it is available to be taken.

Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page. The Blade of the Northern Lights (話して下さい) 21:48, 25 September 2023 (UTC)Reply

I see now that an organization cannot be linked to a page. I attempted to use Wikipedia as it is intended to be used, as a reference page. I added more information about Buffalo's Richardson Olmsted Campus. This includes sections on architecture, mental health, and general history. Prior to this, the page had little to no information that was useful for those looked to researc the property.

Hello! Yes I made an additional account with another name to alleviate the issue of having an account tied to an organization. I did not think that this would lead to a "sockpuppet" investigation. I would really like to just edit the page and be done with all of this. Please just unblock my account so I can finish this. I added a new name and everything. The point of this platform is for open contribution to bolster historical recordkeeping. That is literally exactly what I am doing. I do not understand the want to disrupt historical research being added to a historical page. I have already stated above that the point was to create an account without an organization name (which is exactly what wikipedia's instructions said to do). The page as it stands is completely incorrect in numerous areas, and the decision to ignore updated information and have it deleted is a disservice to everyone using wikipedia. Again- can I just get simple answer as to how to alleviate the problem? So far it seems everyone is talking around me, and making decisions without responding to my chat requests. Like I said, the page is filled with incorrect information at this point. Please consider answering. The Richardson Olmsted Campus (talk) 15:29, 26 September 2023 (UTC)Reply

Note for admins: based on the history of the page this user was editing, this user appears to be engaged in sockpuppetry I have opened an SPI case on the matter. TornadoLGS (talk) 22:50, 25 September 2023 (UTC)Reply

If the answer is that wikipedia does not really care about correct information, then please let me know and I will stop messaging you. Again, the page is factually incorrect. The Richardson Olmsted Campus (talk) 15:35, 26 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
If you are keen on answers. You were blocked not just because of a username violation, but because your edits appeared to be promotional and you have a conflict of interest (I would suggest you read the conflict of interest guidelines). In short, it is very strongly recommended that people not edit articles about themselves or about companies/organizations/etc. with which they have any kind of close connection. Admins regularly have to deal with people who seek to "correct" or "update" information about a company/organization/etc. when those edits are very often promotional in nature. As to sockpuppetry, using multiple accounts usually goes against policy; doing so in order to circumvent a block most definitely does. The only exception is if a username violation is the sole reason for a block, which it was not in your case. TornadoLGS (talk) 01:09, 27 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
Ok that is more clear- as the steward of the Campus (we are not a business), we see that our page is almost five years out of date. We are a non-for-profit on behalf of the community to preserve the grounds and history of this National Historic Landmark. It is our duty to provide the correct information on the Richardson Olmsted Campus, nothing I posted had anything to do with promotion or sales. If the community is not updating the page, it is up to us to provide the correct information. Please reconsider. As it stands it is incorrect and not complete, so what can we do? 24.103.202.230 (talk) 16:07, 27 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
First, I do suggest you log in when commenting, as editing while logged out if you have an account is discouraged. While you are blocked you are still able to edit your talk page. As a steward of the campus, you are considered to have a conflict of interest. The COI guidelines apply just as well in editing articles about people, nonprofits, schools, churches etc. Given all that, I think the only way you're likely to make any headway (and only if you can get unblocked) would be to discuss changes on the article's talk page rather than making those changes yourself. Just to note; I am not an administrator, so I can offer this advice, but the decision on whether you get unblocked is not mine. TornadoLGS (talk) 18:40, 27 September 2023 (UTC)Reply

This does not address your violation of WP:COI and possibly WP:PAID and tell how you will make edits consistent with these policies. 331dot (talk) 22:17, 26 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
