Notability of The Popes Of Pogles Wood
editA tag has been placed on The Popes Of Pogles Wood requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.
If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.
For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. StephenBuxton (talk) 12:56, 27 February 2008 (UTC)
I've removed the comment you left on this user page. If you would like to ask about why your article was deleted, please use his talk page instead. Without being able to see the deleted content, it would appear that your article was deleted because it was an article about a band that didn't assert notability per Wikipedia's guidelines. --Onorem♠Dil 13:15, 27 February 2008 (UTC)
Indeed; I have deleted the article because it was about a minor (and apparently defunct) college band and it in no way explained how the band was notable. See the notability guidelines for musicians and musical ensembles. (In short, a band is notable if it has been subject to non-trivial coverage by reliable third-party sources, or if it has made some other achievement - i.e. it has been awarded or nominated for a major award, or it has released at least two albums on a major label.) - Mike Rosoft (talk) 16:17, 27 February 2008 (UTC)
