A message from Maddie coleman

the information i have added was true, reliable and necessary. why did you revert it? Maddie coleman (talk) 17:22, 1 July 2018 (UTC)

Because your additions are false, unreliable, and unnecessary. And per the BLP policy I have reverted that material. Provide a source please, or it will get reverted again. theinstantmatrix (talk) 17:31, 1 July 2018 (UTC)
the information was true.. so basically what you are saying is that i should add a reliable source? Maddie coleman (talk) 19:24, 1 July 2018 (UTC)

  Guideline and policy news

  • An RfC about the deletion of drafts closed with a consensus to change the wording of WP:NMFD. Specifically, a draft that has been repeatedly resubmitted and declined at AfC without any substantial improvement may be deleted at MfD if consensus determines that it is unlikely to ever meet the requirements for mainspace and it otherwise meets one of the reasons for deletion outlined in the deletion policy.
  • A request for comment closed with a consensus that the {{promising draft}} template cannot be used to indefinitely prevent a WP:G13 speedy deletion nomination.

  Technical news

  • Starting on July 9, the WMF Security team, Trust & Safety, and the broader technical community will be seeking input on an upcoming change that will restrict editing of site-wide JavaScript and CSS to a new technical administrators user group. Bureaucrats and stewards will be able to grant this right per a community-defined process. The intention is to reduce the number of accounts who can edit frontend code to those who actually need to, which in turn lessens the risk of malicious code being added that compromises the security and privacy of everyone who accesses Wikipedia. For more information, please review the FAQ.
  • Syntax highlighting has been graduated from a Beta feature on the English Wikipedia. To enable this feature, click the highlighter icon ( ) in your editing toolbar (or under the hamburger menu in the 2017 wikitext editor). This feature can help prevent you from making mistakes when editing complex templates.
  • IP-based cookie blocks should be deployed to English Wikipedia in July (previously scheduled for June). This will cause the block of a logged-out user to be reloaded if they change IPs. This means in most cases, you may no longer need to do /64 range blocks on residential IPv6 addresses in order to effectively block the end user. It will also help combat abuse from IP hoppers in general. For the time being, it only affects users of the desktop interface.

  Miscellaneous

  • Currently around 20% of admins have enabled two-factor authentication, up from 17% a year ago. If you haven't already enabled it, please consider doing so. Regardless if you use 2FA, please practice appropriate account security by ensuring your password is secure and unique to Wikimedia.

A message from Friendflume

Hi,

I'm new to Wikipedia but I noticed my own image got taken down by you. How do I prevent this in the future? It's my own image and I'm happy to provide proof. Friendflume (talk) 02:28, 27 July 2018 (UTC)

As I already said on your Commons talk page, the image came from here, which is copyrighted, so you'll need to provide OTRS permission to verify that you took this photo. You still haven't provided a good reason on why you've replaced this image that's already been in place for months now, so I already reverted it, per WP:ABDF. Along with the unsourced statement forcibly added by an IP, the Porter Robinson article is now pending changes protected, meaning IPs and new users making contributions to that particular article have to be manually approved by a reviewer. theinstantmatrix (talk) 14:00, 28 July 2018 (UTC)

Contested deletion

The following discussion has been closed. Please do not modify it.

Hi,

I am brand new to wiki and trying to write my first article. I really am trying to get this right however I have been dinged twice for delete notice. I am removed unnecessary links and rewrote the text. I have cited all my sources with both links, citations and references. I am reviewed the article multiple times to ensure it is not sales related and strictly information period. There is no call to actions, no anything for that matter.

Can you please help. I don't know what I am doing wrong?

Thank you so much

Eazydoit (talk) 04:33, 28 July 2018 (UTC)David

@Eazydoit: Looks like Bradv removed all the copyright violations you've inserted onto a draft, saving it from deletion. The draft is already declined though, so you'll need to change some stuff that the reviewer is talking about. Also, please see WP:COPYVIO; Wikipedia prohibits users copying copyrighted text from other sites, so only write your own text, or use freely licensed text (Creative Commons, public domain, etc.). IMO, looking at the draft, it's highly unlikely this will get accepted, so you'll probably be better off editing existing articles related to this "Qualified Opportunity Fund" topic. theinstantmatrix (talk) 13:50, 28 July 2018 (UTC)

Put a lock on Goosebumps Haunted Halloween

We need to put a lock on the Goosebumps Haunted Halloween page so users from the Goosebumps wikia can't edit it. Since me and you know that the user keeps adding that dumb twitter link which is not a reliable source for this website. So please help me put a lock on that page until we get more information until then. Ambandicoot (talk) 18:32, 30 July 2018 (UTC)
