Hi Thekillerpenguin,

I fully understand and agree with your decision to Speedy Delete my page. May I explain why the page was submitted as it was? I created a new page, naming myself because my name appeared in the Wikipedia "disambiguation" page for several persons with the name John Hanna. I was listed as John Hanna (activist). I merely wished to disambiguate further by adding my middle name and to also add the biographical title "inventor". I was indeed an activist and did indeed found the environmental organization named the "Environmental Life Force" back in 1977 - 40 years ago! In the ensuing years of my life, I took a less radical path which had nothing to do with activism. I think my two patents for wave energy converters is more germane to my life's accomplishments than founding a radical environmental group. My webpage at www.originalelf.com offers a strong repudiation of radical environmentalism. I do not want to have Wikipedia stating that my legacy is "activist". I previously attempted to have inventor added to the Disambiguation page but I was unable to do this. Not sure why. My patents are on the US Patent Office website. Simply enter the numbers 8,358,026 and 8,745,981.

 Hi The killerpenguin.
I fully understand and agree with your decision to Speedy Delete my page. May I explain why the page was submitted as it was? I created a new page, naming myself because my name appeared in the Wikipedia "disambiguation" page for several persons with the name John Hanna (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Hanna). I do not know how to edit and change my John Hanna (activist) listing on the Wikipedia "Disambiguation Page". How can I add my middle name Clark and add inventor? This is the way it appears now but Wikipedia says the page does not exist. Before, if the name John Hanna was clicked, you would be taken to the "Environmental Life Force" page. I would rather have my name linked to the Wikipedia "Oscillating Water Column" page where my invention is discussed. This is far more relevant than my activities forty years ago. Could you kindly help me change this? If that can be done, then the need for a John Clark Hanna page will not be necessary. If possible, please do this for me. Many, many thanks! Hello @Hannaturbine:,
This kind of matter isn't my forte, so the help I can offer you might be limited. As far as I know, there currently isn't a page on you specifically. The "John Hanna (activist)" link redirects to the ELF page, where you are mentioned by name. I took a look at the disambiguation page, and the page history shows that you had added the changes that you wanted when logged out, but then removed them once you had logged in. I wasn't able to find any sign of anything preventing you from changing it.
My understanding is that currently you are listed on the page as an activist because you yourself do not have an article; since you are only mentioned on the ELF page at the moment, information about you is limited to what is in the scope of the ELF- your activist work. I can't think of a solution to this issue given that the administrator who deleted your article (not me) believed that you were not individually notable enough to warrant an article; otherwise he/she would not have deleted it. That means there's not really any space to describe your invention achievements.
I'll go ahead and ask for help from someone with more experience to see what the best way to go about this is. Thekillerpenguin (talk) 22:41, 19 August 2017 (UTC)
@Hannaturbine: Wikipedia content should be a summary of what reliable published sources report about a subject. I found multiple books mentioning your activism, all under the name "John Hanna". Google Books and Google News found no results whatsoever for "John Clark Hanna", and I didn't find anything about your post-activism life or, in fact, anything beyond the bare-bones facts that you founded the original ELF and were arrested in 1978. So while I appreciate that you consider your work in the last 40 years far more relevant than your activism, the published sources take another view, and that's the view Wikipedia follows. I also agree with the admin who deleted the page that the amount of coverage of you is too low to admit a stand-alone article; since all the sources talk about is your involvement with the ELF, mentioning your role in the article about that organization seems entirely adequate. You've been unsubscribed from the Feedback Request Service

Hi thekillerpenguin! You're receiving this notification because you were previously subscribed to the Feedback Request Service, but you haven't made any edits to the English Wikipedia in over six months.

In order to declutter the Feedback Request Service list, and to produce a greater chance of active users being randomly selected to receive invitations to contribute, you've been unsubscribed, along with all other users who have made no edits in six months.

You do not need to do anything about this - if you are happy to not receive Feedback Request Service messages, thank you very much for your contributions in the past, and this will be the last you hear from the service. If, however, you would like to resubscribe yourself, you can follow the below instructions to do so:

  1. Go to the Feedback Request Service page.
  2. Decide which categories are of interest to you, under the RfC and/or GA headings.
  3. Paste {{Frs user|thekillerpenguin|limit}} underneath the relevant heading(s), where limit is the maximum number of requests you wish to receive for that category per month.
  4. Publish the page.

If you've just come back after a wikibreak and are seeing this message, welcome back! You can follow the above instructions to re-activate your subscription. Likewise, if this is an alternate account, please consider subscribing your main account in much the same way.

Note that if you had a rename and left your old name subscribed to the FRS, you may be receiving this message on your new username's talk page still. If so, make sure your new account name is subscribed to the FRS, using the same procedure mentioned above.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask on the Feedback Request Service talk page, or on the Feedback Request Service bot's operator's talk page. Thank you! Message delivered to you with love by Yapperbot :) | Is this wrong? Contact my bot operator. | Sent at 18:07, 31 May 2021 (UTC)
